Chapter 807 Why Don't You Come Over and Apologize to Dad?
"You're lying!"
Brandon's face flushed with anger as Jasper struck a nerve. He clenched his teeth and glared at Jasper with fury.
"I didn't mess up Adeline's face, and I never had those thoughts about her!"
He turned to look at Adeline, who stood behind Jasper, his eyes filled with panic.
"Adeline, don't believe a word Jasper says! He's just trying to drive a wedge between us, to make you distrust me!"
Adeline narrowed her eyes.
"Jasper's trying to make us distrust each other? Then what about Daisy in your arms? Is she in on it with Jasper, too?"
Brandon's panic deepened. He bit his lip, struggling to form coherent words for the first time in his life.
"Daisy... she has postpartum depression. Jasper manipulated her!"
No, he couldn't let Adeline find out the truth from back then!
Years of planning couldn't be ruined now. He glanced at the sleeping Howard in the hospital room. Narrowing his eyes, he suddenly let go of Daisy and lunged towards Adeline.
"Adeline, let me explain!"
But Jasper wasn't about to let Brandon get close to Adeline. As Brandon approached, Jasper grabbed his wrist and pushed him back.
Jasper didn't use much force, just enough to keep Brandon away from Adeline. But Brandon stumbled and fell towards a trash can filled with medical waste.
The trash can toppled over, spilling glass bottles and creating a loud crash in the hallway.
Seeing Brandon fall, Daisy rushed to help him up, glaring at Jasper with anger.
"What are you doing? Brandon just wanted to explain to Adeline. Why are you being so rough? That trash can is full of medical waste! If any of it gets on Brandon... he's already weak... can you handle the consequences?"
The loud noise and Daisy's raised voice made Howard frown in the hospital room. He opened his eyes and looked irritably at Saul, who was standing by his bed.
"What's going on out there?"
Saul bowed his head and reported, "Ms. Adeline Phoebe and Mr. Foster are here. They're arguing with Ms. Daisy Phoebe and Mr. Brandon Torres in the hallway."
Howard was already furious with Adeline and Jasper earlier. Hearing that they had come to the hospital to argue with Daisy and Brandon only made him angrier.
He snorted coldly. "That brat! Even though she and Oliver don't share the same mother, their rebelliousness is the same!"
He got out of bed with Saul's help. "Help me out there. I want to see what she's doing here so late with Jasper. Is she trying to drive me to my grave?"
Saul's eyes darkened as he helped Howard out of bed.
Sitting on the floor, Brandon heard the noise from the hospital room and knew Howard was getting up. He sighed and held Daisy's hand.
"Daisy, keep it down. Don't argue with them. Dad's still resting. We can't disturb him."
Daisy sneered and glanced at Adeline. "I care about Dad, but some people, even though they're his biological daughter, don't care about his feelings at all. Bringing the person Dad hates most to the hospital to cause trouble so late at night!"
Her words made Adeline narrow her eyes. She coldly smiled and stepped past Jasper to stand in front of Daisy and Brandon, looking down at them.
"I came here to visit Dad. Who started the trouble?"
She fixed her gaze on Brandon's pale face. "Brandon, just answer me one question. Is what Jasper said true?"
Brandon took a deep breath. "Adeline, you'd rather believe Jasper, who has hurt you so many times and almost killed your mother, than believe me, who saved you and your three children?"
His words made Adeline's heart ache. She wanted to believe Brandon, but the facts were right in front of her...
Seeing her hesitation, Brandon sighed. "I know your answer. In your heart, no matter what Jasper says or does, you can believe and forgive him. But I made one mistake, and you can't trust me anymore, can you?"
Before Adeline could respond, the hospital room door opened. Howard stood there with a cold expression, his eyes sweeping over Adeline and then Jasper.
He sneered. "Brandon, do you still expect Adeline to trust you, to trust me, to trust her family and benefactors? In her eyes, there's only Jasper, always Jasper!"
Howard coughed violently as he spoke. "If she cared about me at all, she wouldn't bring Jasper here to argue, knowing I'm unwell. She wants to drive me to my grave! Does she think that once I'm dead, no one in the Phoebe family can control her, and she can run off with Jasper?"
He grew angrier, coughing up blood. "How did the Phoebe family end up with such a foolish daughter? Is there room in her heart for anyone but Jasper? I'm almost being killed by Jasper, and she still sides with him!"
Seeing Howard cough up blood, Daisy quickly stood up to support him. "Dad, don't get angry, please!"
"How can I not be angry?" Howard pointed a trembling finger at Adeline. "Adeline, you want to kill me!"
Watching Howard cough up blood, Adeline felt a sharp pain in her heart. Did she really not care about the Phoebe family or Howard? If she didn't, she wouldn't be here so late after a long day of praying at the church, despite her exhaustion.
Seeing Adeline standing there in a daze, Daisy rolled her eyes. "What are you standing there for? Apologize to Dad! Do you want to wait until he's dead to be happy?"
