Chapter 142 Sharing a Table Can Be Quite Interesting
It was a video of Stella pushing her!
And it was a frontal view!
The video captured every detail of Stella pushing her; even the sound was recorded!
Adeline stared blankly at the footage as Sebastian's words echoed in her ears:
"I'll tamper with the fake exhibit and instruct someone to place it out of sight of the cameras."
"Adeline, Adeline!"
The following day, Adeline was awakened early by Violet's knocking.
Rubbing her sleepy eyes, Adeline struggled out of bed and asked groggily, "What's up?"
The night before, after seeing the surveillance video Sebastian had given her, she had sent it to Blake.
Knowing the whole story, Blake, worried about her feelings, had called to comfort her.
They talked for hours, and she hadn't gone to sleep until after two in the morning; now it was only seven.
"Someone's here looking for you! "
"He says his name is Sebastian, and he's here to take you to breakfast and then to work!"
Adeline instantly felt awake.
She jumped out of bed, "Sebastian?"
"Yeah," Violet replied, tilting her head thoughtfully outside the door., "He seems like an artist."
Hurrying to get dressed after her morning routine, Adeline opened the door to find Sebastian, dressed in all white, seated on the couch chatting with Violet's boyfriend, Ethan Sterling.
Upon seeing her, Sebastian stood up with a light laugh, "Good morning."
Adeline replied with some embarrassment, "Morning."
Sebastian was at ease compared to her awkwardness.
He glanced down at his watch, "I believe the Foster Group starts at eight-thirty."
"It's seven-twenty now, and it's a half-hour drive from here to the Foster Group. We have about forty minutes for breakfast."
After saying this, Sebastian turned gracefully, "Let's go."
Adeline paused, said goodbye to Violet, and quickly followed him.
"I didn't expect you'd come to pick me up for work..."
Sitting in the diner near The Foster Group, Adeline sipped her soup with an embarrassed giggle, "I just feel..."
"You feel like we're not that close yet?"
Sebastian chuckled as he looked at her, "You'll get used to it."
Hesitating for a moment, Adeline lifted her head to meet his gaze seriously, "I'm engaged."
The man laughed, "What's that got to do with being friends with me?"
Adeline fell silent.
She bowed her head and focused on her soup.
"Your friend and her boyfriend seem close."
As Sebastian sipped his soup, he remarked in a casual tone, "Your friend's boyfriend mentioned that last night you dropped by, left the groceries at the door, and then took off."
"Living with a friend whose boyfriend is always dropping by must be inconvenient, right?"
After a pause, Adeline nodded.
She had already been considering moving out.
The house that had been damaged by fire was no longer livable.
And the situation being what it was, having Jasper's child wasn't going to happen overnight.
She couldn't keep being a third wheel at Violet's place indefinitely.
Sebastian pulled out a brochure from his bag and handed it to her, "I've stayed there for a few days, and it's pretty nice. How about considering it?, Mmaybe, we can become becoming neighbors.?"
Taking the brochure, Adeline carefully flipped through it.
The place was close to The Foster Group and Blue Bay, in a good neighborhood with decent amenities.
The rent was a bit steep, but her savings would cover it.
"Thanks, I'll think about it."
As she tucked the brochure away and was about to thank Sebastian, she caught sight of the pair entering the diner.
Adeline rolled her eyes discreetly.
Talk about a small world.
How could she have imagined running into Jasper and Stella just by grabbing breakfast near the office?
Noticing her fixed stare towards the entrance, Sebastian instinctively glanced over.
The man chuckled and waved directly at the unsuspecting Jasper, "Mr. Foster, we meet again."
Jasper, busy ordering with Stella, hadn't noticed them before.
Hearing Sebastian's voice, he involuntarily looked their way.
The moment Jasper's gaze landed on Adeline and Sebastian, his deep eyes darkened instantly darkened.
Stella noticed Adeline and Sebastian as well.
She pursed her lips with a nonchalant air, her voice a bland murmur by his ear, "Adeline sure knows how to charm men. She jJust met Master Sebastian last night, and here he is, keeping her company for breakfast near the office."
Jasper's brows knitted together in frustration at her words.
The next moment, he strode over and plopped down beside Adeline, announcing, "Let's share the table."
Stella quickly followed suit.
Originally, Adeline and Sebastian were sitting across from each other with an empty seat on either side.
Now, with Jasper beside Adeline, Stella found herself relegated to the seat next to Sebastian.
But settled in, something felt off to her.
Even if they were sharing a table, shouldn't she be sitting next to Jasper?
Moreover, there were plenty of free tables in the diner; there was no need to intrude on their space!
Sebastian, sipping his coffeemilk gracefully, commented, "This table sharing is quite interesting."
Adeline could hardly bear having Jasper next to her.
She quickly finished off herthe rice soup. soup in her bowl, "I'm done, Mr. Foster. Excuse me, please."
"What's the rush?"
Jasper glanced at the time indifferently, "You've still got half an hour before you're late."
"Besides, even if you are late, I've got your back. What are you afraid of?"
The waiter brought over Jasper and Stella's breakfast.
Elegantly, Jasper began to eat elegantly.
Adeline sneered at his handsome profile, "So, Mr. Foster, are you telling me to sit and watch you eat breakfast?, and only after you're done, I may go to work?"
"Pretty much."
"You!"
"Adeline."
Sebastian chuckled amicably, "Mr. FosterHardy has got you covered; no worries if you're a bit late to work. Why rush?"
He rested his chin in his hands, gazing tenderly at Adeline, "Once you move in, we can skip these breakfast outings. I'm quite the cook. Care to try my dishes?"
Catching Jasper out of the corner of her eye, still eating with a stony face, Adeline replied, "Sure, I make a mean breakfast too. We can take turns."
"Bang!"
The moment her words fell, Jasper slammed his cupglass of coffeemilk down on the marble tabletop.
The glass bottom clinked sharply against the stone, startling Stella.
She bit her lower lip, "What's the matter, Jasper? Is the foFood not to your liking?"
He gave a cold hum, his face shadowed with displeasure.
"Should we try a different place?" Stella asked pensively, biting her lip.
She couldn't stand the sight of Jasper and Adeline cozied up together any more than she already had.
Sebastian chuckled, stroking his chin beside her. "If the food out here doesn't hit the spot, why doesn't Mrs. Foster whip up some breakfast at home for Mr. Foster?"
"Wait, don't tell me... Mrs. Foster can't cook breakfast.?"
Stella's face turned a shade paler.
She shot Sebastian a glare. "What's so tough about making breakfast? "
"I just never bother with it!"
Jasper said with a resigned smiled bitterly, the memory of a tender voice echoing in his ears from years agopast:
"I always love making breakfast for you. It makes me feel so accomplished!"
He silently scoffed to himself. His Adeline had undoubtedly changed.
At that moment, Adeline glanced at Stella nonchalantly. "But Mrs. Foster, shouldn't makinge breakfast for your loved one feel like an accomplishment?"
Her words made Jasper look up sharply.
Morning sunlight spilled through the floor-to-ceiling windows onto Adeline's face, casting an unignorable soft tranquility.
Her voice, her features—, she was nothing like the Adeline from six years ago.
But as she spoke those words—, the spark in her eyes, the slightly proud lilt in her voice—t...
They were precisely the same!
For a moment, Jasper doubted his own eyes.
