Chapter 742 Finally Found

"When did Jasper leave?" Mia glanced at Adeline's pale face, her brows furrowing as she asked quietly.

Joseph, on the other end of the phone, paused and said, "He packed up and left last night. That's all I know. When I woke up this morning, Mr. Foster was already gone. Mr. Gonzalez mentioned that Mr. Foster went back home to find something really important to him."

Joseph's words made Mia's face darken.

Adeline bit her lip and turned to head upstairs.

At that moment, she felt like her entire day of waiting had been a joke.

When it came to dealing with the Phoebe family and Jasper, she hesitated and struggled, all because she didn't want to end up estranged from Jasper.

She even considered Mia's suggestion to make a pact with Jasper: once Zara passed away, she would return to him and be his wife.

But what happened?

Just last night, he told her he came to Oceancrest City to bring her home and give their children a complete family.

When she didn't give him an answer, he packed up and went back to Radiance Springs to find something important to him.

So all this time, Jasper hadn't changed at all.

Everything around him was more important than her.

Whether it was the Phoebe family's hatred or this so-called important thing now.

Back in her room, Adeline leaned against the door, tears silently streaming down her face.

She had always known he was this kind of person.

Why did she still hope he could change? Did she wish he could be different from before? Can a person's nature really change because of the so-called punishments and tests she gave him?

The pain enveloped Adeline's heart completely. Just then, her phone rang.

It was Lauren calling.

"Mommy!"

Lauren's clear voice came through the phone. "Why didn't you come back when Daddy did?"

Her voice made Adeline's tears fall even harder.

She bit her lip, trying to suppress her emotions so Lauren wouldn't hear her crying. "Mommy has some things to take care of... Did Daddy come home?"

"Yes!" Adeline replied.

Lauren's voice was filled with joy. "Daddy bought us all gifts! But we didn't see him. When we woke up, we found the breakfast Daddy made and the gifts he prepared. The servants told us Daddy came back but had something more important to do, so he left again. They said Daddy would come back to see us once he's done."

Lauren continued, her voice cheerful. "Mommy, do you know what important thing Daddy is busy with?"

Adeline gripped the phone tightly, biting her lip. "I don't know."

So Jasper had left Radiance Springs before the kids even woke up.

It appeared that what he was seeking held immense significance—more than her, more than their children.

She wiped away her tears and sniffled before speaking, "Lauren, you and your brothers need to take good care of yourselves."

"Mommy, are you crying?" Lauren's keen sense picked up on the change in Adeline's voice. "Did you and Daddy have a fight?"

The more considerate Lauren was, the more it hurt Adeline.

She bit her lip hard. "No. I just... have a bit of a cold."

Lauren was silent for a moment before speaking again, her voice soft. "Mommy, take good care of yourself, okay? It's fall now, and the weather is getting cooler. It's easy to catch a cold!"

Adeline sniffled. "You all need to take care of yourselves too."

Adeline held the phone and reluctantly hung up after giving Lauren a long list of self-care instructions.

Putting down the phone, she slid down the door, finally sitting on the floor in despair.

She used to think she wasn't important to Jasper.

But now she realized, in Jasper's eyes, even the children she bore for him weren't important.

Adeline lowered her gaze, placing her hand on her flat belly.

There was a child, just over a month old, fighting to survive.

Should she let this child be born into suffering?

A child who wouldn't be valued by their father.

She thought of herself.

Back then, she wasn't valued by Howard, which was why she ended up in an orphanage, switched at birth, living a life of hardship.

Would her child suffer the same fate?

Thinking of this, Adeline closed her eyes and took out her phone to call Mia downstairs.

"Get me some abortion pills."

Her three kids were already six years old. She knew better than anyone how hard it was to raise them alone.

Having the three of them was enough.

Mia was stunned on the other end of the line.

"Adeline, don't be impulsive! You have to know, this child survived a fire! They fought so hard to live, and you..."

Adeline closed her eyes. "Mia, you said Jasper never valued me or the kids. Is there any point in having another child for him?"

Mia was silent on the other end.

After a long pause, she took a deep breath. "Alright, I'll get them for you."

Radiance Springs.

Jasper had been searching the cliffside for ten hours with his team.

The bodyguards took turns eating.

But Jasper hadn't eaten or drunk anything, hanging from a rope, searching the cliff.

He remembered there used to be Crag Root Herb on the cliffs above Lillehammer.

But he hadn't expected the recent heavy rains to wash the cliffs clean.

There wasn't a single Crag Root Herb left.

He had planned to search elsewhere, but the local villagers said the ones washed away by the rain were just sprouts.

There was an old Crag Root Herb on the cliff, nearly ten years old, that hadn't fallen. Such herbs had the best medicinal properties.

So Jasper decided to stay and search for the legendary ten-year-old Crag Root Herb.

"Mr. Foster, take a break?" The expedition leader, exhausted, spoke in a low voice.

It had been over ten hours.

Jasper furrowed his brows and shook his head. "Keep searching."

He had to find the herb as quickly as possible.

He needed to return to Oceancrest City by tomorrow.

Otherwise, if Adeline was forcibly taken back to the Phoebe family, it would be too late!

With that thought, he tightened the rope and continued descending the cliff.

But for some reason, the rope's buckle seemed to slip, and he began to fall uncontrollably.

"Mr. Foster!!" The expedition leader, shocked, started descending to save him.

Jasper tried to brace himself against the cliff with his legs, and after several attempts, he finally stopped.

Breathing a sigh of relief, he re-secured the rope's buckle. Looking up, he saw a robust Crag Root Herb growing on the cliff.

Jasper was ecstatic.

He had finally found it!

He quickly climbed over, using great effort to pull the Crag Root Herb from the cliff and place it in his bag.

But perhaps he had used too much force pulling the herb. As soon as he put it in his bag, the newly secured rope began to slip again.
