Chapter 826 I Won't Allow Her to Die Too Easily!
Adeline never expected Howard to set her up on a blind date!
Clutching her phone, her brows furrowed tightly. "Dad, I don't need this, I..."
Before she could finish, the call abruptly ended.
Hearing the dial tone, Adeline's frown deepened.
She quickly tried calling Howard back, but all she got was a message saying his phone was off.
Adeline felt a bit helpless.
With no news about her child, how could she possibly be in the mood for a blind date?
But since Howard had arranged it, not going might reflect poorly on him.
She decided not to think about it and went back to sleep.
She slept until the evening.
It was Linda's knocking that woke her up.
"Adeline, Saul's here. He said he's taking you to the blind date."
Groggily opening her eyes, Adeline sighed at Linda's words from outside the door.
It seemed Howard was determined to make her go on this date.
Fine.
Adeline got up, quickly freshened up, and headed out.
Since Howard had already arranged it, she might as well go through with it.
After all, it was just a blind date. If there was no chemistry, the other person wouldn't force anything.
With that thought, Adeline got into Saul's car.
After the incident at the hospital last night, Saul was very respectful towards Adeline.
Adeline took the opportunity to ask about her blind date.
"So, who's the lucky guy?"
"The heir to the Wheeler family, the wealthiest family in Everglade," Saul replied with a smile as he drove. "It's a good match."
"Although the Wheeler family's influence isn't as strong as the Phoebe family or the Torres family, they're doing quite well in Everglade City."
"Mr. Phoebe is wise. He knows you don't want to be involved in the Phoebe Group's affairs or the conflicts between the Phoebe, Torres, and Foster families, so he arranged a match in Everglade City."
"If you and Mr. Wheeler hit it off, you could marry into the Wheeler family."
"First, the Wheeler family might provide some financial support to the Phoebe family."
"Second, you wouldn't have to worry about the Phoebe family's issues anymore."
Saul's words made Adeline narrow her eyes.
After a moment, she looked out the window with a smirk.
"Dad arranged this blind date because Daisy and Brandon suggested it, right?"
Saul hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Ms. Phoebe was indeed present when Mr. Phoebe arranged the date."
Adeline's lips curled into a cold smile.
That made sense.
She had wondered why Howard suddenly wanted her to go on a blind date.
It turned out to be Daisy and Brandon's idea.
Just last night, she had demanded that if Brandon wanted her to use the Phoebe family's frozen funds, he had to hand over all the family's business rights.
Today, they quickly arranged a blind date with the heir of a neighboring city's family, hoping to marry her off and get her out of Oceancrest City.
Thinking of this, Adeline couldn't help but smile.
When she didn't want to stay in Oceancrest City, Brandon had tried everything to make her stay, and Howard had wanted her to reconnect with the Phoebe family.
Now that they saw her as an obstacle, they were trying to get rid of her?
Not so fast!
Soon, the car pulled up to Lucky Restaurant.
Following Saul's directions, Adeline quickly spotted her date.
The man was refined and elegant.
When Adeline mentioned she was only there to appease her elders and had no intention of finding a boyfriend, he smiled.
"Actually, I'm here to appease my elders too."
He handed Adeline a card.
"But I think, if you don't mind, we could work together to deal with our families."
Adeline raised an eyebrow and took the card.
It was a fold-out card.
When she opened it, she saw a single sentence:
"I like men."
Adeline's eyes widened in shock as she looked up at the man.
He smiled warmly at her and introduced himself.
"My name is Oscar Wheeler. Nice to meet you."
After a brief silence, Adeline smiled and shook his hand. "Nice to meet you."
She didn't mind people like him.
After all, the world was full of all kinds of people, and as long as their preferences didn't affect her, she had no reason to care.
Knowing that Oscar wasn't interested in women, Adeline felt more at ease chatting with him.
They sat in a booth, talking and laughing, thoroughly enjoying each other's company.
Oscar was an interesting and charming person.
Adeline was so engrossed in their conversation that she didn't notice the cold gaze fixed on her from a corner on the third floor.
Jasper stood in the corner, his eyes cold as he watched Adeline.
He hadn't seen her smile like that in a long time.
He had always thought she was still haunted by the loss of their child.
Now he realized it wasn't that she hadn't moved on, but that she hadn't met anyone who could make her laugh.
And that person used to be him.
Now, it was the man sitting across from her.
"Ryan."
Jasper's voice was low, his presence so cold it could freeze the entire restaurant.
"Find out everything about him."
Ryan nodded and left.
In the private room behind him, the businessman who had been about to discuss a deal with Jasper nervously approached Ryan.
"Ryan, did my request upset Mr. Foster?"
"Everything is negotiable. Why is he so angry?"
Ryan shrugged, carrying his laptop as he began investigating Oscar.
"He's not mad at you. He's mad at himself."
Meanwhile, in another corner of the restaurant, Daisy watched Adeline and Oscar chatting happily, her hands clenched into fists at her sides.
Her eyes were filled with layers of resentment!
She had heard that Oscar was the most aloof man in Everglade City.
He had never shown interest in any woman.
But now, even he was chatting happily with Adeline!
Daisy gritted her teeth.
Why? Why was Adeline always so popular with men?
Jasper, Brandon, and now Oscar!
Daisy bit her lip, angrily picking up her phone and speaking through gritted teeth to the person on the other end.
"Don't you have a grudge against the Wheeler family?"
"Now's your chance. In Oceancrest City, the Wheeler family can't touch you. You can do whatever you want to Oscar."
"But I have one condition."
"The woman with Oscar tonight, you have to kill her for me!"
"Humiliate her first, then make her die painfully. I won't let her die easily!"
