Chapter 886 Not a Favor

"Alright, I'll ask now."

Jasper ended the call with a swift motion, his expression cold.

He glanced indifferently at the three stunned people in front of him, a hint of coldness playing at the corners of his lips.

In truth, after hearing the recording Sebastian played for Adeline, he had already sent Ryan to Oceancrest City to rescue Linda.

David's main hideouts were well-known to Ryan.

He had only asked Adeline for terms to toy with her.

"I'll go find Dr. Ross," Oliver said, snapping out of his daze. He took a deep breath and left.

Adeline stared at Jasper, unable to believe he had already made arrangements before she even approached him.

Had he been eavesdropping on their conversation the whole time? She bit her lip, her hands clenched into fists at her sides.

Compared to Jasper's actions, her attempt to negotiate using last night's incident seemed utterly ridiculous.

Noticing her embarrassment, Jasper's lips curled slightly, his voice calm.

"Linda may not be my friend, but I know her importance to David. Helping my best friend David, I wouldn't just let Linda die."

He glanced at Adeline with indifference. "But Ms. Wilson, you have truly surprised me. To think that the esteemed Ms. Wilson of the Phoebe family would use such matters for negotiation. I was puzzled when Allan said you volunteered to attend that kind of party last night..."

"Now it seems, was everything last night your own plan? If I hadn't shown up, would Ms. Phoebe have used her body to negotiate with Hugo, just like you tried with me?"

Jasper's words made Adeline's face flush red and then pale. She had said those things in desperation, unable to think of any other terms to make Jasper agree to help.

But now, she felt like a fool. She bit her lip, her hands clenched into fists at her sides. "Jasper, you know better than anyone what kind of person I am! I..."

"I don't know," Jasper interrupted coldly, his lips curling with a hint of frost. "I used to think I knew you, but now, I don't."

Adeline's words caught in her throat. The hallway's atmosphere plummeted to freezing.

Sebastian, standing nearby, coughed lightly, realizing he shouldn't stay any longer. "Um... I'll go check on Dr. Ross and the blood bank..."

"Wait," Jasper called him back just as he turned to leave. Jasper glanced at him coldly. "I need you to confirm something for me."

Sebastian paused. "What... what confirmation?"

Jasper's gaze shifted to Adeline. "Last night, did I sleep with her?"

Sebastian fell silent. He looked at Jasper, then at Adeline. He should have pretended not to hear and left.

But since he had stopped, he had no choice but to speak. "Adeline. Last night... nothing happened between you and Mr. Foster."

Adeline's eyes widened in disbelief. "Nothing happened?" She remembered someone saying she had been drugged and needed to sleep with a man to relieve it.

"If nothing happened with Jasper, how was the drug neutralized? And how did Sebastian know if anything happened between her and Jasper?"

Seeing Adeline's confusion, Sebastian swallowed hard. Adeline had once been the woman he liked, and revealing this to her was difficult.

Especially since she had just claimed to have slept with Jasper, intending to use it as leverage. But the truth was the truth.

He took a deep breath. "After I moved out of the small house, I stayed at Jasper's manor. I saw everything when he brought you home last night."

Adeline stared at Sebastian, stunned. "The friend you said you were rooming with... was Jasper?"

No wonder Sebastian had been so concerned about her work yesterday, constantly asking how she planned to deal with Hugo.

No wonder Jasper showed up at Hugo's party last night. It was because Sebastian was living with Jasper?

She sighed. "Sebastian, you really surprised me."

If she remembered correctly, Sebastian and Jasper were supposed to be rivals.

When did they become close enough to live together? And help each other gather information?

Sebastian avoided her gaze, looking away. He took a deep breath. "Last night... nothing happened between you and Jasper, I can vouch for that."

Though he wished something had happened to wake Adeline up. But Jasper had said there wasn't time, so they had to use ice packs to keep her cool. Adeline endured until dawn in the car, when the drug finally wore off, and she woke up.

Sebastian took a deep breath, giving Jasper a meaningful look. "I've said what I needed to. I'm leaving now."

With that, he quickly walked away as if escaping. Soon, only Jasper and Adeline were left in the hallway.

At that moment, Ryan called Jasper. "Sir, Dr. Ross has contacted the blood bank. The blood transport is on its way. The doctors here say the current supply can keep her stable for four hours. The immediate crisis is averted, but you should still contact Mr. Stonehaven. Ms. Phoebe was cursing him while unconscious."

As Jasper spoke on the phone, Adeline bit her lip, trying to sneak away. But after two steps, her wrist was grabbed. Jasper held her wrist, responding calmly. "I understand."

He hung up the phone, then looked at Adeline with a smile. "Did you hear what Ryan said?"

Adeline frowned, pulling her wrist free. "I heard."

"I've done you this favor." Jasper's gaze was deep and unreadable. "So, you owe me."

Adeline frowned. "Fine, I owe you a favor."

"Not a favor." He laughed coldly, stepping closer and gently brushing her lips with his thumb. "Ms. Wilson, you offered yourself for a night in exchange for my help with Linda. Since you've made yourself a bargaining chip, I won't refuse."

He released her, his eyes as cold as his voice. "You owe me a night. If Ms. Wilson wants to make such deals in the future, you can come to me. I find it worthwhile."

With that, he turned and walked away, brushing past her shoulder. Adeline stood there, her face pale as a sheet.
