Chapter 719 How Is It Her
It rained heavily all night.
Adeline was tied up in her bedroom, watching the rain pour down through the window.
As dawn broke, Mia came in with breakfast.
She sighed, setting the breakfast down piece by piece in front of Adeline, her face full of helplessness.
"Adeline, please, just agree with me. Don't go back to Brandon. If you promise me, I'll untie you. If you don't, I'll have to feed you myself."
Adeline turned her head, looking at Mia with equal helplessness.
"Brandon isn't a bad person. If he were, he wouldn't have saved me from the ocean six years ago, taken care of me, and helped me raise three kids."
Mia pouted, "I never said he was a bad person. I'm just speaking for myself and your three kids. We don't think you should marry him."
She sat beside Adeline, looking out the floor-to-ceiling window at the morning scenery, still pouting. "Adeline, it's the 21st century. You don't have to marry someone just because they saved your life. If you marry him, what about your three kids? Are they supposed to refer to Brandon as their father and forget about Jasper?"
Adeline pursed her lips and turned away. "I'm not forcing them to forget Jasper."
"Come on..." Mia sighed, gently patting Adeline's shoulder.
"Even if you don't give Jasper a chance, can't you at least wait a bit before getting married? Think about your three kids. Blake's bone marrow transplant was thanks to Jasper. Bennett came back to you because of Jasper. Mrs. Lily Foster risked her life to get the antidote for Lauren. They've just started to feel a sense of belonging with Jasper and the Foster family, and now you want to marry into the Torres family. What about the kids?"
Mia's words made Adeline bite her lip in silence.
She had only thought about how the kids had been with Brandon for six years and wouldn't reject him.
But she forgot their lives were saved by Jasper and Lily.
In their hearts, Jasper might be just as important as she was.
It would indeed put the kids in a difficult position to choose to marry now.
Sensing Adeline's resolve waver, Mia sighed, untied her, and handed her a tablet.
"You didn't sleep well last night, and neither did the kids. Talk it over with them. If you still decide to marry Brandon, I'll take you back."
With that, Mia left the room.
Adeline held the tablet, looking at the tired faces of her three kids on the screen. "You guys..."
Lauren bit her lip, tears in her eyes. "Mommy. Please don't leave Daddy."
Bennett sighed, looking at Adeline with a calm expression. "Even though Jasper has done a lot wrong, he's still our biological father."
Blake, meanwhile, was reading something on the tablet, softly speaking aloud.
"This morning, the Torres Group announced a partnership with the Phoebe Group to counter the Foster Group..."
After reading, Blake looked up.
"Mom, whether you want to admit it or not, the Foster family is our home. If the Foster Group goes under, we might end up with nothing. For our future, please think twice about marrying Brandon."
Adeline couldn't help but laugh and cry at the same time.
She rubbed her temples in frustration. "Don't you three like Brandon?"
The kids exchanged glances. "We do, but..."
Mia waited outside for nearly an hour.
Through the door, she could hear Adeline alternately crying and laughing.
Finally, the door opened.
Adeline wiped her tears and handed the tablet back to Mia.
"I've decided to postpone my wedding with Brandon."
Mia was taken aback. "Just postpone?"
"Yes." Adeline sniffled. "Once things settle down with Jasper, I still plan to marry Brandon. That's my promise."
Mia paused, about to respond, when Adeline asked her.
"Do you have any news about Jasper?" Adeline asked with a hint of urgency.
Mia sighed helplessly. "No."
After last night's engagement party, Jasper seemed to have vanished without a trace.
When Mia contacted Ryan this morning, his voice was hoarse from searching all night.
They had searched the entire city and found nothing.
Adeline closed her eyes, clenching her fists at her sides.
Blake had also mentioned in the video they had checked all the surveillance in Oceancrest City and found no trace of him.
Adeline pondered, 'Jasper, where did you go? Please, don't let anything happen to you.'
Oceancrest City, Swan Villa.
Joseph crouched by the bed, looking at the man sleeping peacefully.
"Dad, you say he's my uncle?"
Oliver, typing away on his keyboard, didn't look up. "Do I need to get a DNA test with our hair for you to believe it?"
Joseph pouted, quickly waving his hands. "No need for that. Even though I'm a detective who believes in evidence, I can see some resemblance between you two."
"Like what?" Oliver asked.
"Your eyes, eyelashes, nose..."
Joseph raised his hand, tracing Jasper's face with his finger. "But his features are sharper, more defined."
Oliver looked up, closing his laptop. "Do you know why?"
"Why?"
"Because he's more stubborn than I am."
Oliver stood, glancing at Jasper with a mocking smile.
"All this for a woman, to the point of risking his life."
If it weren't for the fact that Jasper was related to his late mother, he wouldn't have bothered with such a madman.
Joseph pouted. "That's because you don't understand love."
Oliver walked to the fax machine, turning it on with a cold laugh. "I hope I never understand it."
His mother had died tragically for love, leaving him to fend for himself in the Phoebe family.
Now Jasper was doing the same for Adeline.
He sighed, picking up the phone. "Didn't you say Stella had surgery to look like a certain woman? Send me the information on that woman imitated by Stella."
He hung up, and the fax machine whirred to life, printing out a photo and some details.
Oliver picked up the photo, frowning. "Why is it her?"
