Chapter 267 Is the Collins family worthy of mine?

Adeline's fists clenched at her sides as Stella deliberately pushed her buttons.

Stella knew Adeline was aware Scarlett was just a scapegoat, which made her feel bold.

After a long silence, Adeline looked up and smiled at Jasper. "Let Mr. Foster handle this."

She glanced at Scarlett, still lying weakly on the ground. "Everyone has to pay for their mistakes."

"Whether in the past or now, you and I have no relationship. I see no reason to show you any mercy."

"Everything that's happened is your own doing."

Adeline picked up her ID badge, looked at Jasper's straight face, and said, "Since Mr. Foster helped me investigate, I won't resign."

"I will honor my commitment and ensure that this project is completed successfully."

Finally, Adeline turned to leave.

"Jasper." As Adeline placed her hand on the door handle, she heard Stella's soft voice behind her. "The workplace is too treacherous."

"I don't want to work anymore. Can you let me go home to take care of Bennett and Lauren?"

Adeline's hand trembled slightly on the door handle. She knew Stella was being deliberate, as Bennett and Lauren were her weak spots.

Taking a deep breath, she finally opened the door and left the meeting room.

Behind her, Jasper's deep voice sounded, but Adeline didn't catch what he and Stella were saying. Her mind was roaring.

On the surface, she had won the battle with Stella. In reality, not only had Stella not received any punishment, but she could now brazenly use Bennett and Lauren to threaten her.

Leaving the Foster Group, Adeline went straight to the hospital. Helen had been in the hospital for almost two days, and she hadn't visited her yet.

Although Helen had done many wrongs, Adeline still felt a deep disgust toward her. After all, Helen had given her life and raised her for twenty years.

Buying some fruits at the hospital entrance, Adeline had just entered the lobby of the inpatient department when she saw Violet standing at the nurse's station. "Can you help me check the room number for Ms. Helen, who was admitted yesterday after fainting?"

"I'm a friend of her daughter, here to visit on her behalf!"

The nurse gave Violet a strange look. "Why isn't her daughter coming herself?"

"Helen has been in the hospital for a day and a half, waiting for her daughter to come see her, but she still hasn't shown up."

"And you, a friend, are coming instead?"

Violet awkwardly smiled. "She's too busy."

After muttering a few more words, the nurse finally told Violet the room number.

"Thank you!" With the room number in hand, Violet turned and smiled, about to take the elevator. She then saw Adeline standing at the entrance.

She ran over in surprise. "Why did you come in person?"

Adeline glanced at the identical fruit basket in Violet's hand. "You..."

"I thought you were too busy, so I came on your behalf." As she spoke, she pulled Adeline onto the elevator. "But I didn't expect that your mother has been in the hospital for almost two days and Stella hasn't come to visit her."

After saying that, she sighed. "Do you really think Stella is your sister?"

"I'm not so sure now." Previously, Adeline had always thought that the current Stella looked almost identical to her former self.

If it wasn't artificial, only true siblings could achieve such similarity. But now, she was hesitant to admit that Stella was her true sister.

Violet sighed and asked Adeline about this morning's events. The elevator arrived at the floor where Helen's room was located.

The two found Helen's room by following the nurse's room number. Unfortunately, Helen was taking a nap.

Seeing someone coming to visit Helen, the caregiver smiled as she took the gifts and closed the door. Lowering her voice, she talked with Adeline and Violet in the corridor. "Helen's fine, don't worry. She barely slept last night, but after seeing the news this morning, she's feeling much better and catching up on sleep."

Adeline peeked at Helen through the door crack.

Helen, with her gray hair, looked peaceful and gentle as she slept.

Sighing, Adeline slipped some money to the caregiver before leaving the hospital with Violet.

Adeline didn't expect to run into Stella as they were leaving, who was arriving to visit Helen.

As the trio gathered at the entrance, Violet's fists tightened at the sight of Stella..

Adeline quickly stopped Stella. "Helen is asleep."

Glancing at the time, Adeline frowned. "Care for a coffee together?"

Stella sneered. "Aren't you afraid I'll poison you?"

"As long as you're not afraid," Adeline said.

Stella sneered again. "Let's go." Then she walked out of the hospital.

Behind her, Violet furrowed her brow and whispered, "Why are you having coffee with her? Can you even stomach it when you look at her face?"

"Why not?" Adeline smiled. "Don't forget, I had that face for over twenty years."

Violet paused, then pursed her lips and stayed silent.

Soon, the three of them were seated in a coffee shop. The waiter brought their coffee.

Stella picked up her cup and lightly stirred the coffee with a spoon. "Miss Wilson, inviting me for coffee, is it to discuss the lessons learned from a failed battle with me?"

"Or do you want to vent your frustrations on me?"

Adeline narrowed her eyes. "It was you who schemed against Scarlett."

"She was just too stupid," Stella said casually. "Scarlett befriended me with a purpose, wanting to mingle in the upper echelons of Radiance Springs."

"If she did so, wouldn't it be unfair if I didn't have one too?"

Stella took a sip of her coffee. "You slapped me in the office, claiming it was for Daniel and Helen."

"Now you want to defend Scarlett?"

Looking at Stella's arrogant face, Adeline smiled lightly. "I said Scarlett got what she deserved. Daniel and Helen got what they deserved, too."

"That slap in the office..." Adeline raised an eyebrow slightly. "Do you really think I was defending Daniel and Helen?"

Stella's face suddenly turned pale. "Then why?"

Adeline elegantly took a sip of her coffee. "Because I wanted to."

Stella widened her eyes. "You!"

Adeline continued, "What? When you were in Neon City, you could hit me for no reason."

"This time, openly avenging your parents gives me every reason to strike. Why would I let this chance slip away?"

Stella clenched her teeth tightly and slammed her coffee cup onto the table. "Adeline, be careful!"

"You've gone too far. If it weren't for Brian's last-minute betrayal, the one showing off now would be you." Adeline crossed her arms. "Of course, having you for coffee is not just to mock you."

After taking a deep breath, Adeline looked up at Stella. "I don't know if you're aware, but Molly is not my real sister."

"I have another sister who is out there somewhere."

Stella raised an eyebrow. "So what?"

Adeline smiled. "You looked exactly like me from years ago."

After a moment of silence, Stella sneered. "Adeline, are you suggesting that I'm your real sister?"

"Ridiculous. Just finished hitting me, mocking me, and now you want to claim kinship with me?"

"If I were your real sister, would you want to love me and give me your husband and children?"

Adeline chuckled. "You're overthinking."

"Even animals show respect to their parents." Adeline looked at Stella, her gaze suddenly turning cold. "I'm asking you these questions to determine whether you're just malicious or worse than a beast."
