Chapter 481 What Did You Do with My Computer?
After ditching the hospital, Adeline was all kinds of messed up.
She just couldn't wrap her head around it.
If only she and Jasper had seen that pic, and Jasper was the one who bought it, then even if he didn't email Mia, he had to know something.
But if it was Jasper, what was his game?
All this stuff was bad news for Luna.
He was head over heels for Luna, even stuck by her in her last days, so why would he throw her under the bus like that yesterday?
Adeline was stumped.
Back at Blue Bay, Adeline mulled it over for ages and finally decided to spill the beans to Blake about the email.
She handed Blake the email address Mia got the message from.
Blake got it right away and gave her a knowing look.
"So, Mom, you want me to track down who sent Aunt Mia that email, right?" Blake asked.
Adeline hesitated, then nodded.
This whole thing was too fishy; she had to find out who was behind those messages to Mia, telling her to help out.
Blake pursed his lips and quietly whipped out his laptop and custom keyboard.
His little fingers started flying over the keys.
Adeline sat on the couch, watching Blake type away, and couldn't help but think of Jasper.
When she and Jasper first tied the knot, he used to work on his laptop on the living room couch too.
His long, elegant fingers used to mesmerize Adeline as his big hands danced over the keyboard.
Later, she'd lie next to him, chin in her hands. "The way you type is flawless; it's a shame you're not a hacker. Hackers are so badass!"
Jasper, busy with his work, would glance at her. "What's so cool about being a programmer?"
Adeline would just roll her eyes and try to explain the difference between hackers and programmers, even pushing him to learn hacking in his spare time.
She tried hard to convince him, but Jasper just said, "Boring."
Back then, Adeline didn't know if Jasper was on board or not, so she'd just follow him around, hoping for a clear answer.
But later...
After she got messed with, her looks and voice changed, she never saw him become a hacker for her.
When she got back to Radiance Springs with Bennett and Lauren and reunited with him, she found out Jasper had always been a computer whiz, a top hacker.
He didn't think hackers were lame, nor did he reject being one. He just didn't like her and pushed her away.
Thinking about this, Adeline looked up again, watching Blake seriously typing on the computer, and couldn't help but smile.
Luckily, her son was a star. Jasper didn't want to be the cool hacker she dreamed of, but Blake could.
Even though Blake got some of that jerk's genes, he was still her son and her pride.
While Adeline was zoning out, Blake, who had been hammering away at the keyboard, took a deep breath. "Done!"
Blake hit the last key, pressed Enter, and let out a long sigh. "We'll soon know where this email came from!"
Adeline snapped out of it and leaned in close.
Watching the codes flash on the screen, she bit her lip and had to pull back, waiting for Blake's answer. She was totally lost.
Seeing his mom's curious but confused look, Blake couldn't help but chuckle. "Mom, everyone has their thing. You and Lauren are killer designers; it's cool if you don't get this stuff! If you knew everything, then I wouldn't be able to help you!"
Blake frowned and glanced at the address on the screen. "What's Smith Group? Isn't that Uncle Jason's company?"
Adeline was floored.
"Are you saying the email to Mia came from Smith Group?" she asked.
"Yep," Blake nodded seriously. "Not only was the last login at Smith Group, but the IP address used to send the email to Aunt Mia was from there too. The sender set up a ton of protections; only someone with mad skills could trace it back to Smith Group. I had to pull out all the stops to crack it."
He blinked at Adeline. "So, Mom, was it Uncle Jason who helped you by emailing Aunt Mia?"
Adeline frowned and rubbed her temples. Jason helping her? That was even crazier than Jasper helping her.
At least she and Jasper had some history from six years ago. But she and Jason? They weren't even close back then.
Even now, six years later, Jason had mostly been trying to get her to patch things up with Jasper.
Why would he suddenly switch sides and help her out?
Blake suggested, "I think you should talk to Uncle Jason face-to-face."
Still puzzled, Adeline heard Blake speak up again. "If it wasn't Uncle Jason, you should find out who it was. If it was him, ask what he wants in return. That email to Aunt Mia not only helped your team win but also saved your rep and squashed all those online rumors."
Blake's words made Adeline purse her lips.
She stood up. "You're right."
She needed to ask Jason. Guessing wouldn't get her anywhere.
Smith Group.
Jason sat in his CEO office, looking stressed as he called Jasper.
"Someone just reported that our firewall got breached," Jason said. "The hacker locked onto my computer, got the address info for a few seconds, then bailed. Jasper, what did you do with my computer a few days ago?"
