Chapter 649 Don't Give Up, Jasper
Larry's words on the other end of the phone were somewhat surprising for Adeline.
"Are you sure Mrs. Foster wants to see me?"
Her relationship with Lily had been somewhat tense over the years.
When she first married Jasper, Lily despised her and always tried various means to drive her out of the Foster family.
After she had an accident, underwent plastic surgery, changed her name to Adeline, and returned to the country with Bennett and Lauren, Lily thought she was up to no good and even helped Molly against her.
Later after learning that she was Jasper's wife and going through so many things, Lily seemed to understand her. Not only did she stop being as fierce as before, but sometimes she even defended her.
But even so, her relationship with Lily was far from close enough for Lily to seek her out first after waking up.
"Yes, Miss Wilson, you heard correctly." Larry's voice on the other end of the phone was low and serious. "Mrs. Foster is looking for you."
Adeline paused for a moment and didn't hesitate, "I'll go over now."
With that, she put down her phone, took a deep breath, washed her face, and turned to leave.
In the room, Jasper was already awake.
He was leaning against the headboard, looking at his phone with a tired expression.
Seeing her come out, Jasper smiled at her, "Grandma is awake."
Adeline nodded, "I know. I want to see her, can you take me there?"
She didn't tell Jasper that Lily had sought her out, fearing he might overthink it.
A hint of surprise flashed across Jasper's face.
After a moment, he chuckled softly, got up from the bed, quickly freshened up, and took Adeline to the hospital.
But neither Adeline nor Jasper expected. As soon as they got off the elevator at the hospital, they saw Molly standing at the door of the ward.
Molly heard the sound from the elevator and turned her head, seeing Jasper and Adeline standing together.
Molly's brows furrowed deeply. She strode over to them, her cold gaze sweeping over Adeline's face.
"I was wondering why Jasper wasn't home when I woke up. So you were trying to seduce him early in the morning."
She directly linked arms with Jasper, standing tall and proud, looking at Adeline arrogantly. "Jasper is mine now. Adeline, keep your distance from him. Otherwise, don't blame me for being ruthless and driving you out of Blue Bay!"
Molly's words made Adeline unable to help but smile. "Who drives who out is still uncertain."
Molly frowned and turned to Jasper with a pitiful expression. "Jasper! She still wants to drive me out of Blue Bay!"
Jasper pretended to be displeased, furrowing his brows and giving Adeline a cold glance.
"Aren't you here to see Grandma? Go in first."
With that, he turned and left with Molly, "Have you had breakfast?"
"Not yet."
Adeline stood in place, listening to their voices fade away, then took a deep breath and walked into the ward.
She hadn't seen Lily for a while.
At this moment, Lily was lying on the hospital bed, her face paler than the wall behind her.
Her face was covered in wrinkles, making her look much older than the last time Adeline saw her.
Lily sighed and silently held Adeline's hand. "I've done many things in the past that I regret. You don't hold it against me, do you?"
Adeline paused, quickly holding her hand tightly and shaking her head.
"You are an elder; you took care of Jasper for so many years; how could I blame you?"
"I'm not a competent elder." Lily closed her eyes and sighed, "I actually know you're a good child. I didn't like you because your previous face looked too much like a woman I hated."
She smiled bitterly, her voice hoarse. "That woman caused the death of my biological daughter, so I will never forgive her in this lifetime."
Adeline frowned, puzzled. "Your biological daughter?"
Lily sighed with a face full of melancholy, "Besides Nathan, I actually had a biological daughter. My daughter fell in love with a man she shouldn't have when she was eighteen and eloped with him. In the end, she was killed by that woman, and when she returned to me, even her remains were incomplete."
As Lily closed her eyes, tears streamed down her cheeks.
"I hated that woman, so when I saw your face, I instinctively disliked you and did many things I shouldn't have done. But I actually knew you were a good child. So later, when I found out that the current you was Jasper's wife after plastic surgery, I genuinely liked you. Because of recent events, I still had some misunderstandings about you."
She sighed, "But now, the misunderstandings are cleared."
When her body had problems again, she actually knew someone was secretly poisoning her.
But at that time, Lily directly thought that Adeline, who had returned from abroad and had that face before, was the one poisoning her.
So she chased to Jasper's house overnight, accusing Adeline of leaving with the children in the future and abandoning Jasper.
She also told Jasper to cherish Nathan and Rex as family.
Because she knew how important Adeline was to Jasper.
If Jasper ever found out that Adeline was the one who poisoned her, Lily feared he would collapse.
And last night, when Jasper went to find Nathan, everything was revealed.
It turned out that the person truly related to the Phoebe family was Molly.
Adeline pursed her lips and didn't ask Lily what she had misunderstood about her.
She tightly held Lily's hand, "Thank you for trusting me."
"I am willing to believe you."
Lily raised her head, her eyes fixed on Adeline. "I am willing to believe you. I can't accompany Jasper for a lifetime. If you ask me what I cannot let go of before I die, it is Jasper alone."
Lily took a deep breath, her eyes fixed on Adeline's face, her voice low and hoarse. "Adeline, can you promise me one thing?"
"Please go ahead." Adeline replied.
"Nathan and Rex are estranged from him, if I leave, and you leave him too. He will be too pitiful." Lily took a deep breath and continued, "No matter what your identity or status is in the future. Please never give up on Jasper."
