Chapter 77 She Is, After All, Adeline's Sister
Jasper narrowed his eyes and gave Adeline a cold look. "There's no need to be so harsh in your words."
With that, he lifted his head and picked up the microphone nearby. "Ladies and gentlemen, I apologize for exposing the Foster family's ugly affair tonight."
"But we have our own way of handling issues within the Foster family."
"Everyone here today is our relatives and friends. I believe you are all aware of the Foster family's methods. If tonight's incident were to spread..." Jasper's gaze turned icy. "You all know the consequences."
One sentence instantly silenced the venue.
The people below the stage looked at each other, no one daring to speak.
Jasper's words made it clear: he not only didn't want to involve the police, but he also didn't intend to punish Molly severely, intending to handle this matter discreetly.
Everyone felt perplexed. Jasper just claimed that he and Molly were innocent, yet he was willing to forgive her attempt to harm his own daughter.
What exactly was their relationship?
Adeline stood in place, her heart feeling as if it had been stirred by a knife, making her incredibly uncomfortable.
She raised her gaze and stared fiercely at Jasper with bloodshot eyes. "Mr. Foster! Lauren is your daughter!"
"No need to remind me."
The man coldly glanced at Adeline and continued with the microphone in hand, "Today, we are here to celebrate my grandmother's birthday. I apologize for the disturbance. To make up for everyone's disappointment tonight, I will have my assistant prepare a special gift for each and every one of you."
He looked at the emcee, "Let the banquet continue. I will leave first."
The emcee approached with trepidation, accepting the microphone, "Alright... let's carry on..."
Standing on the stage, Adeline clenched her lips tightly.
She never expected that this incident would end up with this outcome.
Molly's evidence of wanting to kill Lauren was presented, yet Molly wouldn't face any consequences because Jasper was protecting her.
His feelings for Molly were truly deep!
Just as Adeline sneered inwardly, Jasper walked directly past her and grabbed hold of Molly, who had been standing in place all along.
Startled, Molly stepped down from the stage in big strides.
Molly had been dragged by him for quite a while before she finally came back to her senses.
The man's grip was strong, and it made her wrist ache.
Once off the stage, she glanced around and spoke in the most tender voice, "Be gentle, you're hurting me!"
Jasper ignored her and pulled her along.
Molly's voice became fainter and fainter.
The tone of her complaints made Adeline think back to that rainy day six years ago.
That day... what she heard from outside the door was Molly's coquettish voice.
Her heart was cold, her body was cold.
A cold liquid ran down the corner of her eye.
Adeline wiped it away, tasting the saltiness.
Even though she no longer loved Jasper, she hadn't loved him for many years.
Why was it that now, she was shedding tears for him?
"Adeline." Brandon walked over and patted her shoulder. "Let's go down."
It wouldn't look good if they stayed on the stage while the main characters had left.
With her eyes closed, Adeline nodded and silently descended the stage with Brandon embracing her.
Seeing her dazed appearance, Bennett clenched his fists tightly from a distance.
Jasper was a scumbag!
No arguments accepted!
"Does Lauren want some cake?"
Held in Derek's arms, Lauren shook her head, her gaze fixed on Adeline's retreating figure. "Lauren is not in the mood for anything..."
On the other side of the ocean, in a hospital room, Blake watched the footage on the monitor and gently closed his eyes.
After a while, he reached out and lightly touched Adeline in the surveillance video.
"Mummy, I'm sorry..."
If he hadn't gotten sick, Mummy wouldn't have thought of returning to the country to find Jasper.
She wouldn't have been hurt by that scumbag again, and she wouldn't have been so sad...
The back door of the hotel.
Jasper held Molly's arm tightly and dragged her all the way to the door.
She was really in pain from his grip, and coupled with the rushed walk, Molly felt like she reached her limit.
Finally, Jasper let go of her.
Leaning against the door, the woman rubbed her wrist while gasping for breath, smiling coquettishly at Jasper. "You still care about me."
"You guessed wrong."
The man cast a cold glance at her and waved behind him.
Behind him, several people dressed as doctors came forward and restrained Molly directly.
Treating her as if she were a criminal, they folded her arms behind her back with adhesive tape.
Confused, she struggled and loudly demanded, "What are you doing?"
Jasper took the tissue Ryan handed him and carefully wiped the hand that had just touched Molly.
"Don't you think there's something wrong with your sanity?"
"I don't!"
"I do." The man smirked coldly, "Normal people wouldn't repeatedly try to murder their niece."
"I've been protecting you all these years because I thought you were Adeline's sister, the girl she once loved the most. But it seems my actions were wrong."
She thought she was flawless, but in fact, she had many flaws, very obvious ones.
How could he not notice her intentions?
After the Ferris wheel incident, he had guessed that Molly wasn't as obedient as he had imagined, and her relationship with Adeline wasn't as close as he had thought.
With the sudden return of the missing older sister and her daughter, Molly should have been the one who liked Lauren the most.
But instead of being close to Lauren, she repeatedly tried to kill her.
And after the failure of the Ferris wheel incident, she planned the fire.
On the day of the fire, Jasper was personally present at the scene.
He even had a conflict with those people at the entrance of the fire site and was stabbed in the abdomen.
So how could he not know who had manipulated them?
Molly widened her eyes, struggling and desperately defending herself, "It's me! I'm the girl that my sister likes the most, my sister's beloved sister!"
"You can't, you can't treat me like this! When my sister comes back and sees how you've treated me, she will be angry!"
Ignoring her hysterical words, Jasper glanced lightly at the doctor behind her and said, "Take her away."
Today, he had originally planned to wait until the banquet was over, cancel the engagement, and then send Molly away. But he didn't expect that Adeline and her son would do something like this.
After all, Molly was Adeline's own sister, how should he handle this...
He wanted Adeline to come back and tell him personally.
