Chapter 336 Haven't you, Mr. Foster?

Linda's arrival stopped the wedding dead in its tracks. The room buzzed with anticipation, everyone glued to the drama unfolding. Zoe's attempt to show off had backfired big time. Adeline had already caused a stir, but Linda's entrance was straight out of a soap opera.

Adeline rushed over, worried. "Linda, what are you doing here?"

Linda, looking pale but determined, replied, "David insisted I come. He was right. If I want to move on, I can't hide from the truth." She glanced at the stunned couple on stage. "I need to face them."

She smirked. "This is quite the bonus. Even in high school, I was never your first choice, was I, Zavier? You always wanted Adeline."

"You settled for me because she got married and moved away. You never really wanted me."

"Once you find someone more fitting, you'll just dump me." Her eyes locked on Zavier. "Considering Zoe's five months pregnant, I bet you would've dumped me anyway."

Zavier trembled. Linda's calm words hit hard.

"Linda, it's not my fault!" he shouted, desperate. "Five years! We were married for five years! I said I wasn't in a hurry for kids, but I was lying. I messed with your birth control, poked holes in the condoms… Five years, Linda, and nothing! You wouldn't even see a doctor!"

He pointed at Zoe. "But Zoe… One year! We've been together one year, and she's already pregnant!"

He turned on Linda, mixing self-pity and blame. "Don't you see? It's not me, it's you! If you could get pregnant like a normal woman, I wouldn't have…"

His voice trailed off, the accusation hanging in the air.

Adeline and Linda exchanged shocked looks. Zavier was blaming his cheating on Linda's supposed infertility?

"Is he telling the truth?" Adeline whispered, barely audible over the murmurs.

Linda bit her lip, looking down. "I thought we were too young for kids. I didn't realize…"

Adeline's eyes narrowed, darting to Zoe's belly. Zavier blamed their childless marriage on Linda. But Linda was pregnant now, proving she wasn't the issue. So…

Silence fell, broken only by the clinking of glasses as Jasper and David exchanged amused glances. They'd figured it out too.

Linda, ever composed, broke the silence. "Zavier, I pity you. Have you seen a doctor?"

Zavier frowned. "What are you talking about?"

David chuckled, sending a shiver down Zavier's spine. "He means a urologist, buddy. Maybe you're raising another man's kid, thinking it's yours."

Zavier's eyes widened in outrage. "Take that back!" he sputtered, but his voice lacked its usual bravado. David was powerful, and Zavier knew better than to challenge him.

"He's not lying," Linda said calmly. "If I couldn't conceive, it would be my problem. But…" she paused, her gaze piercing Zavier. "I am pregnant."

Zavier staggered back, eyes darting between Linda and Zoe, who stood frozen, her face ashen. Her reaction said it all.

"No… That's impossible!" Zavier stammered, clinging to denial. Then, a glimmer of hope. "Linda, it could be mine! We… we were still together…"

Before Linda could respond, David cut him off, his voice icy. "I can assure you, the child isn't yours. And for your peace of mind, I'll cover the cost of a paternity test."

Zavier paled, his gaze fixed on Zoe, who stood trembling, her facade crumbling. "Zoe… What's going on?" he whispered, hoarse with betrayal.

Zoe's shoulders slumped. "The baby… It's my ex-boyfriend's," she confessed, barely audible.

"You lying bitch!" Zavier roared, punching Zoe in the jaw. She crumpled to the ground, a tooth flying out, blood staining her white dress.

In a flash, Zavier was off the stage, kneeling at Linda's feet, eyes filled with a desperate plea. "Linda, I'm so sorry! Please, forgive me! I'll be a good husband, I promise!"

He knew his reputation was in tatters. The news of his infertility would spread like wildfire, making him a social pariah. Linda was his only hope. Surely, she still loved him enough to forgive him?

Linda stared down at him, her face unreadable. Then, she slapped him, the sound echoing through the stunned silence.

"We're even, Zavier," she said, emotionless. She turned to David, rubbing her stinging palm. "David, I'm tired. Let's go home."

David nodded and wheeled Linda out, leaving chaos behind.

Adeline watched them go, speechless. David, the ruthless leader of Neon City's underworld, transformed into a devoted caretaker around Linda. He catered to her every whim, his rough edges smoothed by her quiet strength.

"Still deny you're interested in him?" Jasper's amused voice broke through her thoughts.

Adeline turned to find him watching her, a knowing smirk on his lips. The drama on stage had devolved into a shouting match between Zavier, Zoe, and their families, but most guests had already fled.

"Quite the spectacle, wasn't it?" Jasper commented, sipping his coffee.

"Indeed," Adeline agreed, accepting the cup he offered. "Cheaters get what they deserve." She took a sip, savoring the rich aroma. "Don't you agree, Mr. Foster?"

Jasper raised an eyebrow, smirking wider. "Miss Wilson, you make it sound like I've cheated before."

Adeline met his gaze, her expression unreadable. "Haven't you, Mr. Foster?"
