Chapter 252 I Have Something to Ask You

"No." Stella bit her lip tightly, her eyes full of grievance as she looked at Jasper's face. "I'm not unhappy with your arrangements. I am actually willing to come. I know you want me to work here, partly because you're afraid I'll be lonely at home and partly to help me get familiar with the company's environment so we can work together in the future."

"But..." Stella hesitated.

Jasper slightly narrowed his eyes. "But what?"

"But," Stella took a deep breath, looking at Jasper's face. "I'm afraid that starting from the bottom, they will look down on me."

"They might think that even though I'm your wife, I still have to start from the assistant position." Stella wiped away her tears silently. "Jasper, you know, I come from an ordinary family in Las Vegas. My parents aren't influential, and I've always felt a bit inferior."

Stella's words made Jasper furrow his brows tightly.

He looked at Stella, tears welling up in her eyes, and finally sighed heavily.

"Working with someone as capable as Adeline might indeed be too harsh for you." Jasper thought for a moment. "I'll have her assign you less challenging tasks."

Finally, Jasper raised his deep, unreadable gaze and stared at her. "I can understand your actions towards Adeline before, trying to assert your authority and save face."

"But about the photo," Jasper narrowed his eyes. "Was it really an accident?"

Why did Stella accidentally break the photo frame when there were so many things on Adeline's desk?

And was it truly an accident that Stella pierced a hole in Adeline's face in the photo?

Jasper wasn't a fool.

Explaining all of this as mere accidents seemed too far-fetched.

Stella knew this deeply as well, so she took a deep breath and answered without hesitation. "It was intentional."

Jasper raised an eyebrow.

Stella continued, "I envy Adeline for having so much history with Bennett, while Bennett and I have nothing. Adeline can display her photo with Bennett on her desk. But me? I have nothing. Bennett still refuses to call me 'mom' and doesn't want to take photos with me."

After speaking, Stella raised her head confidently. "I know what I did was wrong, but I couldn't help it. Bennett is my son, and I can't stand how close he is with Adeline."

"But you have to understand, you've been absent from Bennett's life for so many years." Jasper tapped his long fingers on the desk. "Moreover, even if Bennett returns to you, you haven't fulfilled your duties as a mother to him."

Stella bit her lip. "I didn't have the chance."

Just as Stella was about to continue, there was a knock on the office door.

Outside, Ryan's voice came, "Mr. Foster, the photo restoration expert has arrived."

Jasper responded lightly, then turned to Stella. "Go back to work. Remember, if Bennett is not close to you, that is your problem, not Adeline's. Don't bring personal emotions into work in the future."

Stella bit her lip, nodded in grievance, and then turned to leave.

Just as she took a couple of steps, Jasper suddenly called out to her as if recalling something, "Are you sure, back then, you gave birth to two, Bennett and Lauren?"

Stella's heart skipped a beat.

She turned, looking at Jasper with a puzzled expression. "What's wrong?"

Jasper thought, 'Could it be that one of Bennett and Lauren wasn't my biological child?'

Seeing Stella's puzzled expression, Jasper gave a bitter smile, realizing he was overthinking.

Stella looked at him curiously, then turned and left.

In the design department downstairs, with her finger bandaged, Adeline was standing outside the office, instructing Lucia to help tidy up Stella's workstation.

Seeing Stella return, Adeline gave her a cold glance. "Since you don't appreciate my office, they've arranged a spacious place for you."

"There is nothing for you to do these days. Get familiar with the daily work in the design department and your new colleagues first."

Stella rolled her eyes at her, sat down on a chair, and then said with a straight face, "Thank you for your concern."

Adeline slightly furrowed her brows, then turned and entered the office.

However, Adeline didn't expect that Stella would follow her when she entered the office.

Stella closed the office door behind her, her voice icy. "Adeline."

Adeline turned around, raising an eyebrow. "What is it?"

"Is it true that, between Bennett and Lauren, one of them is not your biological child?"

Adeline furrowed her brows. "Why do you ask?"

"Tell me." Stella took a deep breath, lowering her voice. "Just now upstairs, Jasper asked me if I was sure about giving birth to two children back then."

Stella's words made Adeline's breath pause in her throat.

Jasper's question couldn't have come out of nowhere.

Recalling him taking away her photo with Blake just now, a terrible premonition surged in Adeline's heart.

Adeline bit her lip, looking at Stella. "How did you respond?"

"I said yes, of course." Rolling her eyes, Stella continued, "So, are they really yours? I always thought both of them were yours. If one of them isn't, you better tell me which one!"

Stella narrowed her eyes fiercely. "If I am exposed, I won't let you or your two children off easy!"

Adeline took a deep breath. "Both children are mine. Don't worry."

"Good!" Stella rolled her eyes at her before turning and leaving.

The office door was closed.

Adeline sat back in her chair, staring blankly in the direction of the office door, lost in thought.

'Jasper has discovered something, hasn't he?'

'Otherwise, he wouldn't have asked Stella such a question.'

She instinctively hugged herself, feeling her body inexplicably grow cold and shiver.

If Jasper had found out about Blake's existence, Adeline wouldn't dare to think about what would happen next.

If he also found Blake, she would truly have nothing left.

The whole morning, Adeline was absent-minded.

She was afraid that Jasper would call her to his office and ask her why she had hidden a child.

Finally, at noon, Adeline heaved a sigh of relief. She was about to pack up to eat when she received a call from Jasper.

"Come to my office." Jasper's voice on the phone was cold and indifferent. "The photo restoration expert has fixed it."

"But I have something to ask you about the photo," Jasper added.
