Chapter 849 What Exactly Is Going On?
Giselle's words made both Adeline and Oliver furrow their brows.
Adeline and Oliver exchanged a glance.
'Is Jasper coming to the wedding tonight?'
Seeing Adeline stay quiet, Giselle's smugness grew.
She sneered at Adeline, "Realize you don't stand a chance now?"
"I told you, Mr. Foster likes someone sweet and considerate like me."
"Someone like you," she rolled her eyes, "Mr. Foster is just playing around with you."
As Giselle finished speaking, her entourage quickly chimed in with flattery:
"Yeah, Giselle is so sweet and considerate, not just any woman can compare!"
"Not just any woman can match up to Giselle."
"Know your place."
Listening to these women, Oliver smirked faintly.
He crossed his arms and looked at Giselle with a hint of amusement, "So Jasper likes women like you."
Giselle lifted her chin proudly, "Of course!"
Oliver gave Giselle a once-over, then turned to point at the most expensive dress in the store, "Adeline, how about we buy this one?"
"If you wear this dress tonight, you'll definitely be the center of attention. Some so-called sweet and considerate women won't even come close."
Adeline glanced at the dress and frowned, "Forget it."
"If I were going to the wedding with Jasper tonight, I might consider it."
Oliver smirked, "Why not give it a try?"
Adeline pretended to look helplessly at Giselle, "Let's just drop it."
Giselle heard every word of their conversation.
She bit her lip and glanced at the price tag on the dress, which was way beyond her budget.
Just as she was about to leave, her entourage started egging her on:
"Giselle, you should buy this dress."
"Yeah, some people can't wear this dress to accompany Mr. Foster, but you can!"
"This dress will definitely make you look even more stunning!"
With a few words of flattery, Giselle lost her rationality.
Over budget? So be it!
As long as she could match Jasper and be the most dazzling companion by his side, she was willing to go all out!
She called out to the sales assistant, "I'll try this one."
The sales assistant smiled and led Giselle to the fitting room, "Right this way, miss."
Once Giselle and her entourage were in the fitting room, Adeline and Oliver exchanged a smile and left together.
This mall was actually owned by Oliver.
Naturally, the stores inside were his businesses too.
That dress had been hanging there for two years because it was too expensive.
"You're so bad," Adeline couldn't help but laugh as they left the store.
Oliver raised an eyebrow, "Takes one to know one."
They found a nearby café and sat down.
After laughing, Oliver grew curious, "Why would Jasper be interested in Daisy and Brandon's wedding?"
Adeline furrowed her brow.
Suddenly, she recalled the conversation she overheard last night, where Jasper's company executives were reporting their plans to him.
She bit her lip and took a silent sip of her coffee.
Maybe Jasper wanted to see the Torres family go bankrupt during Brandon's wedding.
"What's wrong?" Oliver asked, noticing Adeline's daze.
Adeline quickly shook her head, "Nothing."
She wanted to tell Oliver what she had overheard, especially since the Torres family and the Phoebe family were practically one now.
If the Torres family went bankrupt, the Phoebe family would be affected too.
But she held back.
After tonight, she would no longer be part of the Phoebe family.
The only people she cared about in the Phoebe family were Zara and Oliver.
Now that Zara had moved to Everglade City and Oliver had left the Phoebe family to start his own business, she didn't want to be involved in the Phoebe family's affairs anymore.
Evening.
Crystal Heights Resort.
Brandon and Daisy's wedding began on time.
A huge banner hung outside the hotel, with their enlarged wedding photo at the entrance.
Everyone passing by couldn't help but marvel at how well-matched the couple looked.
But as the bride of the night, Daisy was extremely agitated.
In the dressing room, she threw her makeup case at the mirror, "What the hell is going on!"
That morning, the red marks on her neck from being grabbed by Adeline and Brandon had turned into festering wounds!
Yellow pus and red blood oozed from the small holes in her neck, emitting a foul stench.
The makeup artist beside her was terrified by the sight.
She stammered, "Ms. Phoebe, should I get a doctor for you?"
"This looks pretty serious."
Daisy glared at her, "The guests are already arriving, and there are people and reporters everywhere outside!"
"If you bring a doctor to the dressing room now, what will people think of me?"
"Do you want everyone to know my neck looks like this?"
She stared at her once fair and delicate neck in the mirror, narrowing her eyes, "Get some disinfectant and wrap it with a ribbon!"
After all, Brandon had told her not to wear jewelry and that a ribbon choker would be fine.
The makeup artist quickly nodded, "Okay, okay!"
She hurried to get the disinfectant for Daisy.
As the disinfectant touched the festering wounds, Daisy trembled in pain.
She narrowed her eyes, staring at her reflection.
What was going on?
She remembered her neck had only been grabbed by Adeline and Brandon.
Suddenly, she recalled the ointment Howard had given her, which she had applied to her neck!
She quickly found her purse and handed the ointment, covered in foreign writing, to the makeup artist, "What does this say?"
The makeup artist looked at the ointment and began to tremble.
She stammered, "Ms. Phoebe, this ointment is for making human or animal flesh rot quickly."
"Usually, it causes festering within ten hours. Use with caution."
Daisy was stunned.
She grabbed the ointment and stared at the label in shock.
She remembered!
This was the ointment Brandon had bought to frame Zara!
How did it end up in Howard's hands?
