Chapter 611 Collecting DNA

Bennett clutched his phone, his heart racing.

After setting up a time with Molly to take Blake and Lauren out, he sat anxiously on a garden bench.

Something felt off, and maybe the doctor was onto something. The more he thought about it, the more convinced he became. Bennett and Blake could be twins. Maybe even Lauren was born with them.

This realization hit Bennett hard. He was excited about having real siblings but also confused and unsettled by Jasper and Adeline's behavior. How could they act like loving parents to kids who weren't theirs? It was more complicated than he ever imagined.

At dinner, for the first time, Bennett started serving food to Adeline and Jasper.

The two adults were flattered and exchanged surprised glances. Adeline looked at Bennett, then at Jasper, who was also looking at her. Their eyes met, both filled with astonishment at Bennett's unexpected gesture.

Lauren, smiling, glanced at them and chuckled. "Are you surprised? Let me tell you something."

Lauren served Bennett some food while smiling, "This afternoon, Liam finally figured it out! He thinks that no matter what, we are family. And family should get along!"

After saying that, she winked at Adeline and placed a small plate of cookies in front of her.

"Liam made these for Blake and me this afternoon, and I think they're delicious! So I saved some for you!"

Lauren enthusiastically urged, "Daddy, Mommy, try them!"

Jasper glanced indifferently at the plate of cookies, then looked at Blake and Lauren. "You two already ate them this afternoon?"

Lauren nodded seriously.

Blake glanced at the time and said seriously, "Lauren and I ate them around 4:30 PM, which was two and a half hours ago."

He then looked at Jasper, "Mr. Foster, rest assured, most laxatives and poisons take effect within two hours. Lauren and I haven't experienced any chest pain, dizziness, or diarrhea. No poison."

Blake's words instantly chilled the atmosphere at the dinner table.

Lauren and Adeline were stunned, their mouths agape in shock at Blake's unexpected remark.

Jasper squinted slightly, barely letting out a sigh of relief.

Bennett sneered, reaching for the plate of cookies, "Since Mr. Foster and Miss Wilson think I have ill intentions and would poison you. Then don't eat them!"

He looked hurt and pulled the plate back.

Adeline quickly grabbed the other end of the plate, pressing it down on the table. "Liam, don't be mad, they were just joking. No, no one thinks you poisoned them."

She turned to Blake, "You don't understand Blake. He has a quirky sense of humor and was only kidding, and Jasper didn't mean it either."

Bennett laughed. "I get it if Blake likes to joke around. You just don't trust me. If you don't trust me, why bring me here to live?"

He then yanked the plate harder. Adeline held on tight too. In the end, the plate couldn't take it and slipped from their hands, crashing to the ground and scattering cookies everywhere.

The whole dining room went silent.

Bennett smirked, "Well, now no one can be poisoned."

He took a deep breath and stormed upstairs. As he walked over the broken pieces, he didn't even flinch. The shards pierced through his slippers, stabbing into his feet. But Bennett seemed completely unfazed by the pain and kept going.

A door slammed shut from the children's room upstairs.

At the dining table, the family of four just stared at each other.

After a long while, Adeline glared at Jasper, "Why did you have to ask that?"

Jasper looked at Blake, "I just casually asked when you ate them."

With his head down, focused on his meal, Blake spoke calmly, "Mr. Foster, don't dodge responsibility. Since you asked us that in front of him, he knew what you were thinking. I was just stating the facts."

He then put down his fork, "I don't think my answer was wrong."

Even though Liam was the amnesiac Bennett, he stayed loyal to Molly and resented the Foster family.

Last night, Blake had seen him standing by Lauren's bed with a knife.

Although Bennett didn't act in the end, the fact that he stood there with a knife showed he had the intention.

Blake thought it was always better to be cautious with someone like that.

Seeing Jasper and Blake unwilling to admit their mistakes, Adeline sighed. She picked up a piece of cookie from the table and put it in her mouth.

Adeline thought, 'It tastes sweet and fragrant. Just like the cookies I once taught Bennett to make abroad!'

She looked up in surprise, meeting Lauren's smiling eyes.

"Tasty, isn't it, Mommy? Just as good as the cookies Bennett used to make!"

Lauren smiled, "So even if Bennett has lost his memory, he still remembers how to make the cookies you taught him! I think Bennett will regain his memory soon!"

Lauren's words brought a touch of joy to Adeline's heart. Although she didn't know how to help Bennett regain his memory quickly, even with amnesia, he remembered the name she gave him and the things she taught him. How could she not be moved!

"Mommy," Lauren looked up and told Adeline about Bennett's promise to get Molly's hair and nails for a DNA test. "I think, once we have the real evidence, Bennett will believe it!"

Jasper nodded and looked at Lauren, "It's a good idea. But, can you kids get Molly's hair or nails for a DNA test?"

Lauren pouted, "Of course we can! This afternoon, Bennett told us he knows where Molly lives. Tomorrow, when Molly goes out, the three of us will sneak into her place and get the DNA!"
