Chapter 81 You Still Want Me to Take Responsibility?

The night was dark. Sitting in his hotel room, Brandon frowned intensely as he looked at the screen in front of him. He had been searching for Adeline for over two hours, scouring every corner of the hotel. In the end, he saw her figure on the road surveillance footage.

The woman in the footage was extremely intoxicated, stumbling towards a certain direction. And that direction... was Jasper's Blue Bay. Brandon's knuckles clenched, and his fingertips holding the glass grew pale. Adeline thought that he had come to attend Grandma Foster's birthday banquet today, but the truth was that he had come specifically for her.

He and Jasper were arch-enemies. The Torres family had no personal business in Denver. He had cancelled a few meetings and rushed over just to be by her side. Tonight, he had received many calls from overseas urging him to return home. And yet, the woman he held closest to his heart not only drank in front of him because of another man, but even after getting drunk, she went to that man's house.

His phone, placed aside, began to ring again. "Yes?" he answered it coldly. "Boss, there are still two hours before the plane takes off, should I delay your departure?" "No need." The man quietly ended the call.

That noise!!!!! Adeline quickly answered the phone. "Miss Wilson, is that you?" She rubbed her temples groggily, murmuring lazily, "Of course, it's me... Who are you?" The woman twisted her brow as she massaged her throbbing temple, still feeling the effects of her hangover.

"It's Derek. I'm downstairs. Get Jasper to come down," the man on the other end of the line replied, coughing softly. Adeline paused. Derek? Downstairs? Jasper? Opening her eyes, she realized she was in Jasper's bedroom. She looked down at the phone in her hand; it wasn't hers. "Miss Wilson, I understand the lifestyle young people lead, but I've been waiting for almost an hour. Tell Jasper to hurry up and come downstairs!" Derek abruptly ended the call.

Adeline was stunned, putting down the phone; she felt completely lost. She stiffly turned around and glanced at the large bed behind her, locking eyes with Jasper's deep and mysterious gaze. Their eyes met.

"I..." Adeline opened her mouth, but could only manage that one single syllable. Wasn't she drinking with Brandon last night? How did she end up waking up in Jasper's bed? She looked at their disheveled clothes on the floor and the marks on her body, the evidence of what happened last night unmistakable... It felt as though Adeline's head was about to explode.

"You drank too much last night," Jasper sat up, gracefully picking up a nearby robe. "I also had too much to drink." While he was somewhat surprised by the current situation, he remained much calmer.

"My father is downstairs?" The man got out of bed, donning his robe. "I'll go freshen up." "You should tidy up and get up as well. Let the staff prepare whatever you want to eat." With his current attitude, one would not be blamed for assuming that they had experienced such interactions previously.

Watching his broad back, Adeline bit her lip. "Jasper." He paused in his tracks. "What else do you want to say?" Without even looking back, he spoke in a low and indifferent voice, "We're both adults."

"Do you... Do you want me to take responsibility?" She hesitated, but he curled his lips coldly. "Did Brandon assign you to come to me after getting drunk? Is this a new task for you?" He didn't wait for her response, opening the door and entering the bathroom. Sitting on the bed, Adeline stared at the closed bathroom door...

Hearing the sound of rushing water in the bathroom, her heart sank heavily. His cold attitude reminded her of the countless days and nights they had spent together. He had always been like this towards her. He had never let her finish talking or ever truly considered her feelings and opinions. At first, she thought he was just not accustomed to being in a relationship, used to putting himself first. But later, she realized it wasn't that he prioritized himself, but rather that he didn't appreciate or love her.

The woman closed her eyes, feeling her heart aching as if it had been sliced. Taking a deep breath, she suppressed her discomfort and got out of bed to dress herself. Once she was ready, she took out her phone. There were two unread messages. One was from Brandon: "I'm leaving, catching a morning flight, contact me if you need anything." The other was from Blake, with just two simple words: "Good morning."

Adeline's heart felt a pang. Blake was not someone who enjoyed chatting. Even when he was with his younger siblings, he seldom spoke. He was so silent that she had wondered if he had autism. But this quiet child, calculating the time difference, sent her a "good morning" early in the morning. Blake must be worried about her... He was a considerate person that made others feel appreciated and treasured.

She held the phone and closed her eyes. For Blake... anything she sacrificed would be worth it. A daring thought began to brew in her mind...

When Jasper emerged from the bathroom, Adeline was sitting neatly on the edge of the bed, waiting for him. Upon seeing him, she stood up with a smile. "Mr. Foster."

He raised an eyebrow nonchalantly. "You're not leaving?"

He thought he had made it clear, that she would understand and leave on her own accord. But not only did she not leave, she even changed her demeanor and waited at the bathroom door for him?

"Not leaving," Adeline smiled and looked at Jasper's face. "Mr. Foster, I've just been thinking about it and have made a decision."

Jasper frowned, rolling up his shirt sleeves absentmindedly as he casually asked, "What decision?"

"I want Mr. Foster to take responsibility," she said.

The man's hand froze mid-action, his brow furrowing as he coldly glanced at Adeline's face. "Make me responsible, huh?"

"Otherwise, what else?" The woman playfully raised her lips in a smile. "Last night, I was drunk and came looking for you, and Mr. Foster, you didn't refuse, now did you?"

"And..." She walked up to him seductively, raising herself on tiptoe, her captivating eyes slightly squinted as she looked at him. "Last night, you made me feel so good."

"I don't think you had any complaints about the entire experience, now do? Since we both need each other, why not maintain a long-term relationship?" She reached out her arm to encircle him.
