Chapter 65 Take Good Care of Yourself

Jasper waited for Adeline in the study for a full two hours.

After two hours, the man couldn't help but close the files, covering his face in annoyance.

She didn't come.

She really didn't want to stay.

In the end, it could only be his own imagination playing tricks on him.

Jasper chuckled self-deprecatingly and left the study.

He had intended to wander around the villa, but unexpectedly, as he wandered, he ended up at Adeline's door.

The lights inside were already off.

She must have been asleep.

The man sighed lightly and walked to Lauren's room.

The little girl was also sleeping soundly.

In the entire villa, it seemed like Jasper was the only one suffering from insomnia.

Only he... couldn't bear the looming separation that tomorrow would bring.

The man returned to his bedroom resolutely and reached for Adeline's photograph from under the pillow, caressing it repeatedly.

After a while, he smiled bitterly, "Come back soon. If you don't come back..."

He would truly fall in love with another woman.

Jasper closed his eyes, not knowing what was wrong with him.

When he first learned of Adeline's death, he vowed to never love another in this lifetime.

He had kept his promise, he had been faithful to her for six years, and he thought he could continue like this forever.

Even though he already knew his Adeline was alive, and knew he should focus his energy on finding her. This woman named Adeline, like a poppy, like poison, appeared brilliantly and arrogantly in his world.

Jasper didn't sleep a wink that night.

He held Adeline's photo, continuously reflecting on himself, denying himself, coaxing himself.

In the end, he made a difficult decision.

Morning came as promised.

In order to execute tonight's plan perfectly, Adeline woke up early and went to her workspace.

She had moved all Brandon's materials into the burned-down house; transforming it into a makeshift workspace.

She had spent two days restoring the design drawings of the Counting Stars jewelry series and personally made the pieces.

At the studio, she double-checked the details of the jewelry, and finally satisfied, she packed them into her backpack.

By the time she returned to Blue Bay again, it was midday.

At the entrance of the villa, she encountered Molly.

Dressed in a navy sequined gown, with her hair elegantly tied up, exuding grace and sophistication. She sat gracefully in the driver's seat of the red Porsche, and when Adeline was passing, Molly lowered her window and cast a disdainful glance at her. "I heard that after today, you'll be gone?" she sneered.

Adeline glanced at her calmly, said nothing, and continued walking ahead.

"I told you; it will never end well for those who offend me." Molly chuckled coldly. "Initially, I quite liked you, but you always felt the need to protect that little wench?"

"You're not that smart. If you had chosen me instead of that little wench, you could have been the top servant in Blue Bay."

"But..." Molly's lips curled with a touch of coldness. "You have no sense of gratitude."

Adeline stopped in her tracks, turned her gaze slightly, and looked at her with a faint gleam in her eyes. "You take great pride in dealing with a six-year-old child. I'm glad that I'm not the kind of person like you who lacks gratitude. Otherwise, working for you would make me lose all peace of mind."

Those words from Adeline caused Molly's eyebrows to furrow.

She immediately opened the car door, stepped out, and angrily strode towards Adeline. "Say that again!"

Adeline coldly ignored the woman in front of her. "Saying it a few more times won't change anything."

Molly gritted her teeth.

The woman before her was dressed in cheap maid attire, with no trace of makeup on her face. She looked pitiful and impoverished, yet she dared to be so disrespectful to Molly!

Her distant gaze made Molly feel like she and Adeline were not from the same world.

That superior, cold, and indifferent expression...

Just like her sister!

Seeing that gaze, Molly even felt like she had returned to the days when Adeline stole all the limelight from her.

Molly's fury began to burn fiercely.

If she couldn't find Adeline, couldn't deal with Adeline, then could she not deal with a lowly servant?!

The woman bit her lip and swiftly walked towards Adeline on her seven centimeter high heels.

She raised her hand and viciously aimed a slap towards Adeline's face--

Molly thought her movements were fast enough to completely disorientate Adeline.

But what she didn't anticipate was that Adeline was even faster.

As Molly raised her hand, Adeline's hand accurately caught her wrist mid-air.

Adeline glanced indifferently at Molly. "Violence is the recourse of the incapable."

With that, she forcefully flung Molly's wrist, causing Molly to stumble and fall to the ground.

Her expensive gown was stained with dirt, her hair ruffled, and she looked disheveled.

Exhausted.

"Adeline!"

The woman struggled to get up from the ground, glaring fiercely at Adeline's retreating figure. "I could handle one Adeline, and I can handle you too, Adeline! Don't think that just because you are leaving Blue Bay, that I can't do anything to you anymore! You're just a maid, and if you cross me, I'll make sure you won't survive in Denver!"

Adeline didn't even turn her head, simply waved her hand dismissively. "Couldn't ask for more."

With that, the woman entered Blue Bay.

Molly stood in place, stomping her foot in anger.

When Adeline returned to the villa, it was already lunchtime.

Jasper, who was supposed to have lunch with her, was nowhere to be found.

"Auntie!" As soon as she entered, Lauren sitting at the dining table waved at her with a smile, "Are those things alright?"

Adeline nodded her head. "No problem."

"That's great!" Lauren cheerfully served Adeline some food, "You've been taking care of me this whole time."

"Now, I want to take care of you." The little girl blinked her eyes, looking adorable. "Don't refuse Lauren. I've been learning how to take care of people lately."

After saying that, the little girl picked up her small bowl and carefully fed Adeline.

Adeline looked at her in a standard caregiver posture and couldn't help but smile helplessly. "Did you watch so many caregiver videos just for this?"

Lauren smiled a little embarrassedly. "Yeah, I learned well, didn't I?"

Regardless of her motive, she didn't want Adeline to leave.

Seeing her daughter's sensible appearance, Adeline couldn't help but embrace her.

"Lauren." The woman sniffed and suppressed the sourness in her nose. "You don't have to learn how to take care of others. Just take care of yourself."

Lauren nodded. Just as she was about to say something, she froze at the sight of the person standing at the door.
