Chapter 814 Jasper Did Indeed Come
Soon, the housekeeper brought out all the surveillance footage from the courtyard.
Oliver quickly played through the footage.
It was just as Adeline had said.
Because Daisy and Howard had arrived this morning, Adeline, who usually visited Zara after breakfast, hadn't entered the guest room at all today.
Apart from the usual caregivers in Zara's room, only Daisy had entered and exited the guest room.
Oliver played the footage twice.
Finally, he turned to Daisy with a cold smile. "Got anything to say for yourself?"
Daisy started to panic.
She instinctively glanced at Brandon, her eyes filled with anxiety.
Wasn't Jasper supposed to appear in the footage, so she could pin the blame on him and claim it had nothing to do with her?
Why wasn't Jasper in the footage at all?
As the footage continued to play at high speed, Brandon narrowed his eyes slightly.
He hadn't expected Jasper to be meticulous enough to delete all traces of himself from the surveillance footage!
Brandon clenched one hand into a fist at his side, while the other tightly gripped Daisy's shoulder, his eyes narrowing further.
He knew that Jasper had shown up an hour after Daisy and Adeline had left the courtyard.
If he adjusted the footage to that time, he would definitely find something suspicious.
Jasper, being cautious, would have deleted the footage of his appearance as the quickest way to alter it in a short time.
There would be gaps in the surveillance timestamps.
As long as he found those gaps, he could easily point out that someone had tampered with the footage and entered Zara's guest room.
But doing so would bring even bigger problems.
Adeline and Oliver would question why he thought of this and how he could pinpoint the exact time of the gaps.
If he didn't do this, searching through the entire footage for gaps would waste too much time and test Oliver and Adeline's patience.
Thinking of this, Brandon couldn't help but furrow his brows.
He hadn't expected that even while scheming against Jasper, Jasper could create such a difficult problem for him with the surveillance issue!
"I can't just sit here doing nothing."
At this moment, Terry stood up with his medical kit, slowly walking over to Zara and joining the doctor who was treating her wounds, beginning to examine her back.
After a few whispered exchanges, Terry stroked his beard and looked up "Since Ms. Phoebe denies doing it, I have a better method."
He pointed to Zara's back and said calmly, "We've estimated that the ointment was applied to Mrs. Phoebe's back between nine and ten in the morning."
He glanced at the footage showing Daisy leaving the guest room.
"Ms. Phoebe left here a little after eight, so there's an hour gap."
Terry's words made Adeline frown slightly. "Are you sure the ointment on my mother's back was applied between nine and ten?"
Terry nodded, "The patient's body doesn't lie."
"This ointment is very potent. An hour less wouldn't cause this much damage, and an hour more would make it worse."
Terry's words made Adeline frown and instinctively exchange a glance with Oliver.
"But between nine and ten, the only people entering my mother's room in the footage are the usual caregivers."
Brandon seized the opportunity to step forward, adjusting the footage to the nine to ten timeframe, pretending to be puzzled. "Could it be that one of the servants who has a grudge against Daisy applied the ointment after Daisy left to frame her?"
He casually flipped through the footage while looking for the gaps in the timestamps.
Daisy quickly came over to cover for him. "How could that be?"
"This is my first time at Adeline's place. How could I have a grudge with her servants?"
"If there's any grudge..."
She looked up, her gaze landing on Linda, who was standing next to Adeline. "I only had a minor conflict with Adeline's friend."
Her words instantly made Linda unhappy. "What do you mean?"
"Daisy, are you trying to say I deliberately hurt Adeline's mother to frame you?"
She scoffed, "If I didn't like you, I wouldn't need to hurt someone else to frame you."
"I'd just strangle you myself!"
Linda knew better than anyone how important Zara was to Adeline.
Daisy dared to accuse her!
Seeing Linda's reaction, Daisy couldn't help but cross her arms and sneer, "Strangle me? With your frail body?"
"Without David's help, you couldn't even beat a starving beggar on the street."
Linda was so angry her teeth were grinding.
"Enough!"
Just as the two women were about to clash, Brandon took a deep breath and finally spoke.
He pulled Oliver over, pointing to the gaps in the footage. "Oliver, look."
"Here, the time jumps from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM, with a two-and-a-half-minute gap."
"And here too, there are two gaps, both between nine and ten, with a 25-minute interval."
He looked up at Oliver, who was frowning. "Someone must have entered the room during this time, stayed for 25 minutes, and then deleted the footage of themselves."
Oliver frowned, carefully examining the footage based on Brandon's words, and it was indeed as he said.
Oliver's eyes narrowed slightly, and he looked coldly at Daisy. "What were you doing between nine and ten?"
Daisy rolled her eyes. "I was taking my dad to the hospital!"
"After we left Adeline's place, we ran into Jasper outside. My dad and Jasper got into a fight, and Jasper almost strangled him."
"So at that time, I was taking my dad to the hospital!"
She suddenly seemed to remember something and looked at Oliver. "Right, I remember now."
"When I ran into Jasper, he was heading towards the courtyard, and the time matches up!"
She widened her eyes. "Could it be... Jasper didn't kill Mom eight months ago, and now he's using this underhanded method to turn her into mush while Adeline's not home?"
Her words made the room fall silent.
Oliver frowned. "Don't talk nonsense."
He still couldn't stand anyone speaking ill of Jasper.
So, Oliver turned and looked at the servants kneeling on the ground. "Do you still dare to say that no one else came today besides Daisy?"
"If you insist, then you must have applied the ointment, and I'll send you to your deaths right now!"
His words made the servants turn pale with fear.
After a moment, one of the servants stood up, trembling. "I... I admit, this morning, after Miss Wilson and Ms. Phoebe left... Mr. Foster did come to visit Mrs. Phoebe."
