Chapter 512 Your Princess is a bit naughty
The sun was dipping below the horizon.
Around six in the evening, Adeline got a call from Jasper, offering her a ride.
She gave him Violet's address, and Jasper quickly drove over.
When she hopped in the car, Jasper eyed the small cloth bag she was carrying. "What's that?"
Adeline grinned. "A gift."
Jasper raised an eyebrow at the so-called gift in her hand.
Adeline settled into the back seat. "It's just some juice drinks I made."
She smiled warmly. "Ethan got hurt, so I came to check on him. I saw Violet messing around with cold brew coffee and juice drinks. Since I was heading to Emerald Crest Estate, I thought I'd bring a little something."
Jasper's frown eased up. "Got any for me?"
Adeline chuckled. "Nope. I figured you wouldn't be into this stuff. I only made some for Blake, Lauren, Grandma, and Luna."
Jasper's eyebrow shot up. "Something for Luna too?"
Adeline asked, "What, Jasper, you think I shouldn't bring a gift for the lady of Emerald Crest Estate?"
Her words made Jasper's eyes darken.
After a moment, he turned to look out the window. "Luna is not the lady of Emerald Crest Estate."
Emerald Crest Estate was built from a design Adeline had sketched out of boredom.
So in Jasper's mind, no matter how long Luna stayed there, she was just a guest. The true lady of Emerald Crest Estate would always be Adeline.
"That's true." Adeline smiled bitterly. "Luna isn't the lady of Emerald Crest Estate yet. I used the wrong term. I should say, Luna is the future lady of Emerald Crest Estate."
Jasper frowned but didn't argue further.
The car ride got awkwardly quiet.
In the tense silence, Ryan quietly started the car and turned on the radio.
An old love song was playing.
The singer crooned in a sad, lonely tone.
Adeline turned her head to look at the distant sea and silently closed her eyes.
This song used to be her favorite. Every time Adeline faced Jasper's indifference, she would play this song on repeat on her phone.
Adeline felt like she was the fool being laughed at, yet she stubbornly refused to give up.
In the front seat, Jasper watched Adeline in the rearview mirror. Although her eyes were closed, the sadness on her face was clear.
Jasper frowned. "Ryan, change the song."
Ryan was startled, then quickly changed the station.
Only then did Adeline sniff and pull herself out of her past emotions.
She almost forgot that Jasper indeed hated this song. Every time he heard it, he would frown and ask her to change it, saying it was too sentimental.
Back then, Adeline didn't get why he hated it. Now she did.
Jasper couldn't stand a sentimental song back then, but now he could keep a constantly sentimental and sickly Luna by his side.
Adeline thought, 'Jasper doesn't hate sentimental songs. He just hates me.'
Soon, the car pulled up at Emerald Crest Estate.
As soon as Ryan parked, the gates swung open.
Lauren was the first to rush out. "Mommy! I missed you so much!"
Blake was right behind her, walking quickly.
Trailing them were Lily and Luna, who clearly didn't get along.
Adeline scooped up Lauren and handed the small cloth bag to Blake. "Blake, these are gifts for everyone. You can hand them out. The peach juice is for Lauren, the orange juice is for you. The latte is for Lily, and the black coffee is for Luna."
Blake nodded and took the bag over to Lily and Luna.
Lauren, nestled in Adeline's arms, pouted. "Why do we have different drinks? It's not fair. I think black coffee is the best. It should go to Lily since she's the most important in our family."
Then Lauren wriggled out of Adeline's arms and ran to Blake.
She looked up at Lily with a pout. "Lily, don't you think so?"
Lily, amused by Lauren's cuteness, quickly picked her up. "Alright, alright, I'm the most important and I want the black coffee."
She shot Luna a meaningful glance. "Even a six-year-old like Lauren knows I'm the most important in the family. Some people aren't even as smart as a six-year-old!"
Luna's eyes narrowed, a flash of resentment crossing them, but she quickly suppressed it. "Lauren is so sensible."
Luna decided not to argue with Lily. She wanted to see if Lily could survive tonight!
Blake suggested, "Let's go with Lauren's idea and give the black coffee to Lily."
Blake opened the bag and found the coffee. He was about to hand it to Lily when Adeline stopped him.
Adeline frowned. "Isn't this inappropriate? I specifically brewed a latte for Grandma."
Adeline's actions made Lauren pout again. "I don't care; I think Lily deserves the best."
Seeing his sister like this, Blake smiled helplessly. "Mommy, let's listen to Lauren. Even though Lily is older, she might like the young taste. And Aunt Luna isn't in good health; a latte might be better for her."
But Adeline still looked reluctant.
Jasper, standing nearby, couldn't take it anymore. "It's just a drink. Do as Lauren says. If Grandma wants to try the latte and Luna wants to try the black coffee, the servants can make more."
After saying that, Jasper strode towards the estate. "Let's go inside. Stop arguing at the door."
Seeing that Jasper had spoken, Adeline had no choice but to reluctantly agree.
Lauren took the black coffee from Blake, quickly prepared the straw, and handed it to Lily. "Lily, try this drink!"
Lily drank while holding Lauren and leading Blake inside. "Stop standing at the door, come in."
As Lily turned, Lauren winked at Adeline.
Adeline squinted, a hint of a smile in her eyes.
Luna didn't see the exchange between them; she only saw Lauren's tantrum.
Luna snorted and took the latte. She didn't drink it; instead, she glanced at Adeline. "They say daughters are closer to their mothers. Why is yours different, always going against you?"
