Chapter 1005 Today I, Emily, Tell You That I Will Agree to Marry Austin After Returning to the Country
"You don't need to lecture me about him," Emily snapped, her voice icy and her eyes flashing with anger as Lucien blocked her way.
"Emily, we can hash out our past later, but right now, you need to stop being so reckless. It's not good for you," Lucien said firmly, ignoring the fury in her eyes.
His assertiveness felt almost mocking to Emily.
Who did he think he was?
Just because she had chased after him before and he had brushed her off, telling her to stop? Did that give him the right to meddle in her personal matters now?
Emily found it laughable, and because it was so absurd, she actually laughed—a cold, sarcastic laugh that curled at the corners of her lips.
"Lucien, just because of what you said, I'm telling you right now, when I get back home, I'm agreeing to marry Austin," Emily said angrily, trying to push Lucien aside.
But Lucien didn't budge, his eyes darkening slightly.
He grabbed her hand, trying to lead her away. "I think you need to calm down."
Seeing this, Emily started shouting for help.
A nurse, startled by her cries, hurried over to ask what was going on.
Lucien calmly replied, "She's my girlfriend."
"We're just having a disagreement."
Though the nurse was skeptical, she knew Lucien was related to Joseph, so she didn't interfere further.
Emily, seeing that the nurse wasn't going to help her, immediately tried to bite Lucien.
Lucien gently but firmly held her chin, saying, "Emily, I didn't realize my feelings before, but now I know. I like you."
Emily didn't care about his confession at this moment; she just wanted to get back to Austin and Douglas.
So she shook her head vigorously. "I don't like you anymore. Stop bothering me."
"Emily, I can give you some space for now, but I just hope you don't act impulsively," Lucien said, not wanting to see her get hurt or deceived.
"I don't want to see you get hurt."
Emily didn't want to listen to anything he said, but knowing she couldn't break free from his grip, she pretended to comply. "Fine, I won't be impulsive. Just let me go see my dad, okay?"
Lucien knew she was pretending, but he didn't want to force her, so he let go of her hand. "Your dad will be fine. I talked to Joseph earlier. You don't need to worry too much."
Emily didn't respond, pulling her hand away and turning to leave.
Lucien stood still, saying, "Remember what you just told me. Don't lie to me."
Emily didn't stop, quickly walking out of the doctor's lounge and back to Austin.
When she reached Austin, he and Eugene had finished their conversation.
Seeing Emily return empty-handed, Austin asked with concern, "Didn't you get the water you wanted?"
"I suddenly didn't feel like drinking it. Are you guys done talking?" Emily asked, smiling as if nothing had happened.
Austin nodded. "Yeah, we're done." He paused, then remembered he hadn't introduced them properly. He quickly pulled Eugene over. "Emily, this is my classmate, Dr. Eugene Bailey, a medical assistant."
Emily smiled and extended her hand. "Dr. Bailey, thank you for your help this time."
Eugene knew he hadn't actually helped, but he didn't want to contradict Austin, so he shook Emily's hand politely. "You're welcome. It was my pleasure."
