Chapter 899 When I Am Not Jealous, It Means I Don't Love You Anymore

"Why'd you hide her here?" Violet asked, clearly puzzled.

Brady continued, "When I was young, Grandpa sent me to train with a mercenary group in Radiantia. That's where I met Lance. We went on missions together, and one time, he saved my life by taking out the leader of that group."

"Not long after we got back to our base, the group sent assassins. They infiltrated our base and slit his throat. Killing him wasn't enough; they went on a rampage, hunting down his family to avenge their leader."

"Julie was only 16 at the time. After Lance died, I couldn't bear the thought of her being harmed by those people, so I arranged for her to be hidden here."

"If she stays here for the rest of her life, she'll be safe."

Of course, if she ventured out, he couldn't guarantee her safety every moment.

"Now that I've explained everything, can you stop being jealous?" Brady sighed softly.

Violet nodded. She had been a bit irrationally jealous earlier.

Even though Julie had said she liked Brady, as long as Brady remained steadfast, it shouldn't matter.

Besides, after hearing his story...

Julie's brother Lance was his savior. It wouldn't be right to stay mad at Julie.

"Honey, does she have to stay here forever?" Violet's anger had subsided, replaced by a touch of sympathy.

Brady nodded. "For now, this is the safest place for her. No one comes here, so she'll be safe."

"Have you thought about sending her abroad? She could live under a new identity." Violet felt it was a shame for Julie to be confined here for life.

"You're oversimplifying it. You don't understand that organization," Brady's eyes darkened, memories of the bloody scenes he and Lance witnessed during their mission flashing before him. "That group is more terrifying than you think."

"As long as there are people around, they can find her." Brady didn't want to keep her confined.

But when it came to her safety, he preferred she stay here.

At least here, he could protect her, fulfilling his promise to Lance.

After Brady finished, Violet suddenly took his hand and said, "Honey, let's go to the bonfire on the beach."

"Not jealous anymore?" Brady teased, noticing her softened expression.

Violet rolled her eyes and huffed, "Is it so bad that I'm jealous? If I stop being jealous, it means I don't love you anymore. Then, even if countless women surrounded you, I wouldn't care."

Brady was momentarily speechless.

But soon, he cupped her face and kissed her deeply.

The kiss was tender and lingering.

When it ended, Violet was no longer upset.

She took his hand, and they headed to the beach bonfire together.

The beach, covered in soft sand, was illuminated by the moonlight reflecting off the waves in the distance and the flickering firelight nearby.

Julie, dressed in her traditional attire, danced barefoot around the blazing fire.

Arthur and Eddy sat quietly, watching.

Violet and Brady arrived hand in hand, and Arthur immediately made room for them to sit.

Once Brady sat down, Arthur asked, "Is that the girl you mentioned, your comrade's sister?"

Brady nodded, "Yes, that's her."

Arthur understood. No wonder Violet seemed a bit upset earlier; she must have been jealous.

He then turned his gaze back to Julie, who was dancing, and then, almost instinctively, looked at Diana, who was sitting beside him, engrossed in her phone.

The firelight cast a surprisingly soft glow on her face.

Arthur found himself staring.

It wasn't until Diana sensed something and looked up at him that he quickly turned away, pretending nothing had happened.
