Chapter 933 It Would Make Me Seem Too Merciful
The gunshot rang out, and the guy standing at the cabin door saw two figures hit the ground together.
He couldn't tell who got shot, but he was scared out of his mind and dropped the lock he was holding, rushing over to check on Miles.
Miles was one of the top heirs of the base.
He couldn't let anything happen to him.
The guy hurried over, ready to help Miles up, but Miles spoke first, "I'm good. Go get Julie."
The gun had almost hit him by accident.
Luckily, he dodged it.
But the bullet had grazed his waist, leaving a scratch.
A bit of blood seeped through his gray cotton-linen T-shirt, staining a small patch.
The guy nodded but couldn't help glancing over at them. Violet seemed fine, but there was blood on Miles' waist.
He didn't dare delay and quickly said, "Mr. Gibson, you're hurt. Let me help you stop the bleeding."
"No need, it's just a scratch," Miles replied casually.
The guy understood and felt a wave of relief; the bullet had missed.
He then went back to the cabin to get Julie.
Miles kept holding down Violet, who was still shaken from the accidental gunfire.
His eyes were fierce, and his voice was harsh, "Mrs. Hall, I was willing to let things slide because of Brady, to coexist peacefully without interference. But you've pushed me too far. If I don't teach you a lesson, it would seem I'm too soft."
Violet was still in shock from the gunshot. Brady had taught her how to shoot, but this was her first real experience.
So she was a bit stunned.
She didn't catch what Miles was saying, just stared blankly at the sky.
It wasn't until Miles yanked her up from the soft grass and picked up the gun that she snapped out of it.
She reached out to push him away.
But Miles firmly grabbed her wrist, not letting her go, his expression terrifying, his voice cold, "Scared? Where's that fierce intent to kill me from a moment ago?"
Violet glared at him, "I'm not scared, Miles. Let Julie go."
Miles was tired of hearing this. "Mrs. Hall, if you're so determined, would you dare to take her place?"
"If you dare, I'll let her go."
Violet was silent for a moment, not sure if it was an impulse or a deep-seated belief that Brady would come to save them.
So she agreed, "Fine, I'll trade places with her."
"How brave," Miles sneered, lightly tapping Violet's cheek with the gun.
Her blue eyes, similar to Julie's, looked deep under the bright sun.
"Let her go," Violet ignored his mockery and said.
Miles narrowed his eyes, then looked back at Julie, who had been brought out of the cabin, and said, "Let her go first."
The guy hesitated, not understanding, "Mr. Gibson, we went through a lot to capture her... how can we..."
"There's still another sacrifice," Miles said coldly.
The guy was still confused. Their target for revenge was Lance's sister.
How could they let an unrelated person take her place?
And this woman, wasn't Miles wary of her?
If they killed her, it would mean completely offending Brady.
"Ms. Devereux, don't save me. I don't agree," Julie heard Violet's offer to trade places and immediately burst into tears.
"If something happens to you, Brady will never forgive me."
"Don't worry, I won't die," Violet said with unexpected courage, looking directly into Miles' bloodshot blue eyes, "Because I believe my husband will come to save me."
"He will find me."
Her words were so certain and fearless that Miles was momentarily silent.
He stared at her coldly.
After a while, he suddenly laughed, "Then let's see."
