Chapter 6 Could Violet Be Pregnant?

Violet bit her lower lip and forced a smile. "Mr. Hall, you must be joking. What could I possibly be hiding from you?"
"Really? Then what did you spill on me earlier?" Brady's gaze pierced through her.
"M... Milk," Violet stammered, her eyes darting around nervously.
She couldn't possibly tell Brady that it was her breast milk.
Brady was suspicious. He remembered they hadn't used any protection that night.
Could Violet be pregnant?
The thought stunned Brady for a moment, but he quickly dismissed it.
If Violet were pregnant, she would have used the baby to manipulate him long ago, given the Devereux family' claim that Violet had drugged him to marry into wealth.
At that moment, Max hurried over, showing utmost respect to Brady.
"To what do I owe this pleasure, Mr. Hall!"
"Let's talk in your office," Brady said coolly.
"Of course, Mr. Hall, right this way!" Max smiled obsequiously as he led Brady to his office, with assistants trailing behind.
Before leaving, Max gave Violet a lingering look.
As they disappeared, Violet let out a sigh of relief. However, a mix of emotions churned within her.
Hopefully, Brady wouldn't suspect anything!
She was pretty sure Brady had grown to loathe her even more.
Suddenly, memories from years ago came flooding back. She recalled the first time she saw Brady at a high-society gala hosted by the Devereux family when she was fifteen.
Back then, eighteen-year-old Brady was strikingly handsome and aristocratic, capturing the hearts of all the young women present, including Violet.
Like a love-struck fool, she stood at a distance, staring at Brady, too shy to get close, too scared to talk or ask for his contact. She feared rejection.
For many years after, Violet harbored a secret crush on Brady, and his image often drifted into her thoughts.
A year ago, her stepmother and stepsister framed her, leading to that fateful night with Brady.
The loathing in Brady's eyes back then had deeply hurt Violet, waking her from her dreams. She told herself to forget about Brady and move on.
Shaking off the memories, Violet steadied herself and walked to a quieter part of the hallway. She pulled out her phone to call Hellen.
Soon Hellen's gentle voice came through. "Violet, why did you hang up earlier?"
"Something came up. I'm coming home for lunch and bringing milk for the babies," Violet whispered to avoid being overheard.
"Alright," Hellen replied, "I'll take the babies to the market. See you at lunch."
"Okay, see you then." Violet ended the call and hurried back to her desk.
When no one was looking, Violet discreetly transferred the milk bag into an opaque lunch box she'd brought along and placed it in the break room's fridge. Then she got ready to tackle her work.
In the director's office, Brady sat with his long legs crossed listening to Max outline the design company's growth strategy.
"Mr. Hall, we plan to develop a high-end clientele, offering personalized services for celebrities and socialites, and collaborating with international fashion designers to expand globally."
"What else?" Brady asked, rhythmically tapping his fingers on the sleek desk.
Max felt a pang of anxiety.
Was Brady displeased with his strategy?
He feared that Brady might reject the plan he had painstakingly crafted over the past six months.
"That's all for now," Max responded.
Brady nodded indifferently. "Proceed with your plan and report back in three months. If the results aren't satisfactory, I won't continue to support this strategy."
"Rest assured, Mr. Hall. We will work tirelessly to elevate the JK and Hall Group brands," Max said confidently.
Brady stood up and suddenly asked, "I heard you hired a new employee?"
"Yes, a new designer, Violet," Max answered truthfully, "Mr. Hall, do you know her?"
Brady pondered for a moment, then replied coolly, "I don't."
So, Violet was indeed working here.
...
During lunchtime, while most employees of the design company headed to the Hall Group's cafeteria, Violet couldn't join them. She needed to go home to feed her babies.
She quickly grabbed the milk from the fridge, packed it in her bag, and ran downstairs to catch the bus home.
Fortunately, Hellen's apartment was close to the Hall Group building, just a 15-minute bus ride away.
Clutching her bag, Violet hurried out. As she ran through the lobby, she suddenly collided with the flamboyant and haughty Lilian.
It was the first time in over a year that Violet and Lilian had come face to face!
Anger flared in Violet's chest.
"It's you!" Violet seethed.
She had vowed to get revenge on the Devereux family!
