Chapter 141 "Mr. Jacob, if you keep harassing me like this, I will have to report this to our superiors."

If You Harass Me Like This, Mr. Hall, I'll Report You to Our Superiors

His dominant and possessive proclamation left Violet surrounded and speechless with shock.

Why would Brady Hall, a man never lacking female attention, insist on having her?

Violet's thoughts were a tangled mess, as if her brain had been twisted into a knot.

"Now, let's get you home," said Brady, surprisingly tender. His voice was soft, a rare deviation from his usual tone.

Jerking back to reality, Violet shoved the robust Brady away and pressed her back against the car door. Her brow furrowed, face set with wariness and resistance. "Mr. Hall, a year ago you told me to get lost. What's changed today?"

Remembering the past, Brady couldn't help but laugh. His voice was slow and magnetic, "Weren't you the one eager to sleep with me over a year ago? Now I'm offering the chance, why the cold feet?"

Violet paled. Sleep with him? As if she had schemed or even desired that. It was all manipulations by others. Yet she didn't want to explain; it only muddled things further.

Violet dropped her gaze, uncaring if he would get mad. Her eyes, stark with resolve, "Mr. Hall, let me be clear one more time. I regret what happened a year ago, and now, I don't want to be anywhere near you. Please, no more pursuit."

Having said her piece, Violet braced for the tycoon's anger.

The worst-case scenario, she mused, would be quitting her job.

But as she waited, Brady showed no sign of outrage. Instead, he boldly cupped her tender chin, his voice deep and rich, "Good, I like a challenge."

Much had happened in the past year, and Violet hadn't crossed his path again.

Now, she had caught his eye, and that changed everything.

It had been a long time since a woman had intrigued him enough to consider a pursuit.
Violet Devereux was the first to break.

But Violet was livid, her entire body chilled as if doused with a bucket of ice cubes. Was Brady Hall sick or something? She had rejected him, yet he persisted in this manner?

How desperately did he need a woman?

Fuming with anger yet unwilling to actually slap him, she only pushed him away and fell silent.

If he wanted a challenge, he'd have to find it elsewhere—she wouldn't betray her own principles.

After Violet pushed his hand away, Brady Hall didn't act like those sleazy creeps who would continue to harass her; instead, he leaned back to rest with his eyes closed. He had downed two glasses of wine.

Though not particularly strong, alcohol can still tire a person out.

So Violet ignored him and he dozed off, deciding to wait until they reached their destination.

The rest of the journey passed in silence.

The car's interior was eerily quiet.

Thirty minutes later, they arrived at the apartment they had talked about before. As Brady’s car came to a halt, Violet hurriedly got out.

Without warning, Brady grasped her wrist, leaning slightly from the shadow-filled interior and said in an indifferent tone, "I'll come to pick you up tomorrow."

Then, he abruptly let go.

Startled, Violet’s face stiffened as she stared at the handsome man shrouded in the car's shadows, speechless. She got out and hastily moved to close the car door, but before shutting it, she turned and warned, “Mr. Hall, if you keep harassing me like this, I’ll take it as sexual harassment, and I'll report it to the authorities.”

With that, she slammed the car door shut without another thought.
