Chapter 1058 It's Worse Than Death! She Might as Well Be Dead
The plastic figurine flew through the air, and Austin didn't even flinch.
He let Emily hit him on purpose, and the figurine left a nasty cut on his forehead, blood trickling down his face.
It dripped onto his white shirt, making him look even more intimidating.
But he didn't care. He just smiled at Emily, a smile that made her want to throw something else at him.
So when she grabbed another figurine from the desk to chuck at Austin, the office door swung open.
Douglas walked in with his assistant to check on Austin's arrival.
The scene that greeted them was Emily throwing things at Austin, who was bleeding from his face.
Douglas immediately panicked and scolded Emily without hesitation, "Emily, what the hell are you doing? Who told you to do this?"
Emily put down the figurine and looked at Douglas, "Dad, he..."
"Mr. Hart, it's okay. Emily doesn't want to see me, and I get it." Austin played the part of the good guy, wiping his blood and taking the blame on himself.
Douglas felt even more guilty. He remembered how Austin had helped him get medical treatment in America.
He couldn't be ungrateful.
"Mr. Roberts, I'm really sorry. Emily has a bad temper. I'll make sure to discipline her at home. You should go to the medical office to get that wound treated."
Austin nodded, "Alright, Mr. Hart, don't be too hard on her. I can handle it."
Douglas sighed deeply.
As Austin headed to the Hart Group's medical office to treat his wound, Douglas began to reprimand Emily, "Can you be more sensible? Austin ended up like this because of you two, and you still act like this?"
"Is this acceptable?"
Emily bit her lip, feeling that Douglas had been completely deceived and couldn't think rationally.
This wasn't her fault at all.
But she didn't dare to provoke Douglas further. With teary eyes, she said, "Dad, he's really a jerk. Whether you believe it or not, that night with Lucien was all his doing. He drugged me, and I would have been violated by him if Lucien hadn't saved me. Nothing happened between Lucien and me, but you just don't believe me."
The more Emily spoke, the redder her eyes became, and tears streamed down her face. "You'd rather believe an outsider than me. He's playing the victim, but his misery is his own doing. He resigned because he defied the principal, and you didn't even investigate. You just took his word for it..."
"And in America..."
Emily was about to continue when Douglas sternly interrupted, "Enough. Go home and calm down."
Emily's heart sank at his words.
How had her father become like this?
Why didn't he believe her?
"Do you just not believe me?" Emily stood her ground, biting her lip.
"When it comes to anything involving Lucien, I can't believe you," Douglas said with a stiff face.
Emily finally understood. The feud between the Moreau family and the Hart family was the cause.
Her father blindly rejected Lucien and only trusted Austin.
"Dad, if you really want to keep Austin, fine, keep him." Emily's heart felt dead, tears streaming down her face. For the first time, she felt the pain of being distrusted by the person she loved most.
It was worse than death.
Maybe it would be better if she were dead.
Wouldn't that reset everything? She wouldn't have to be haunted by Austin anymore.
