Chapter 374 Not a Girl Like Her with a Bad Reputation
Violet didn't respond to Matilda, who was starting to get worried and asked, "Violet, what's on your mind?"
Violet snapped out of it and gave a sheepish grin. "Oh, nothing, Matilda. Is Brady's mom coming back?"
"Yeah, you probably caught that when I was on the phone earlier, right?" Matilda plopped down next to Violet with a warm smile.
"Yeah." Violet nodded.
She had heard it, but she didn't think Ava would be back so soon.
"Violet, chill out. No need to freak. Ava's cool. She used to be a big deal in the industry, but then she took a break to help Brady's dad with his business overseas. She's usually super nice," Matilda said, trying to ease Violet's nerves.
"Yeah, I'm not nervous," Violet lied through her teeth.
She already knew what Ava was up to from the last gathering.
Ava had her friends set up that socialite shindig, and Violet knew exactly what that meant. Ava wanted a daughter-in-law who fit the Hall family's image, not someone like Violet, who had been booted from the DeVere family and had a tarnished rep.
Violet knew her place. She just hoped Brady's mom would cut her some slack when the time came.
Maybe she could ditch Brady early.
"Good, as long as you're not nervous. Try some of these pastries my kitchen maid whipped up. She's got skills," Matilda said, handing Violet a piece of pastry.
Violet took it and nibbled slowly.
While Violet was munching, Matilda went to call Brady, telling him to come over for dinner since Violet was there.
It'd be great to have the whole fam together.
As Matilda was calling Brady, Ava, who was an ocean away, suddenly got a weird feeling when Matilda mentioned some good news.
She wondered if something was up; but nothing major should be happening at home.
Ava couldn't think of any good news that would make Matilda so happy.
She decided to talk to her husband. "Michael, Matilda called today and sounded super happy, saying there was good news at home. Any idea what it could be?"
Michael, flipping through some papers, said, "I haven't heard anything."
"But Mom really did say that," Ava insisted, gently pressing her husband's shoulder.
"Then I don't know," Michael shrugged. Matilda hadn't called him about any family stuff lately.
If this good news made Matilda happy, he wasn't going to dig into it.
Michael paused and added, "Aren't you heading back this month? Check it out when you get there and let me know."
Ava raised an eyebrow and nodded. "Okay."
After hanging with Michael for a bit, Ava called Olivia, who was practicing piano.
Seeing Ava's call, Olivia stopped playing and answered, "Mrs. Hall, what can I do for you?"
"Olivia, I'm heading back to the country this month. Wanna come with me?" Ava asked gently.
Ava was really fond of Olivia. She was beautiful, quiet, well-educated, a famous pianist, and came from a good family. Naturally, Ava liked her.
Hearing this, Olivia was thrilled but kept her voice calm. "Ava, are you really going back this month?"
"Yep, wanna come?" Ava asked again.
"I'll ask my mom," Olivia said.
Ava replied, "Cool, let me know if you wanna join."
Olivia said, "Okay."
