Chapter 289: He Can Cover the Sky with One Hand, She Can't Escape No Matter How She Tries
"Stay at the party for a bit longer. I'll give you a ride then," Brady said while buttoning the top two buttons of his shirt. "I also know about your moving."
Of course, Brady knew where she was moving to.
Coincidentally, it was right next to Brady's mansion, which would be convenient for him in the future.
When Violet heard Brady mention her moving, her face immediately stiffened, and she felt a surge of inexplicable anger. But she knew that getting angry at him was useless. He had a significant influence in Future City and could easily find her. Even if she tried to hide, it wouldn't last long. Suddenly, she bit her lip, considering a compromise. "Mr. Hall, do you have to make me your woman before you'll let me go?"
"What's wrong with being my woman?" Brady didn't catch the grievance and reluctance in Violet's tone, thinking she was just questioning him.
"Then I'll go back and think about what you said," Violet calmed down, lightly pinching the edge of her dress, and said softly.
Brady glanced at her and suddenly reached out to gently touch her hair. "You don't need to feel wronged after being with me. I'll give you anything you want materially."
'Yes, you have the money to give me anything I want materially. But I have no interest in material things. I'd rather earn things with my own hands than rely on you,' thought Violet.
Moreover, Brady's words were clear: being with him meant only material things, no emotional attachment.
So Violet shouldn't expect anything more.
"I understand," Violet said, taking a deep breath.
Since Brady could control everything, there was no way Violet could hide from him. She might as well agree. Maybe one day he would get tired of her and stop bothering her, nor would he compete with her for Henry and Nicole.
Just thinking about Henry and Nicole made Violet feel that being with him wasn't so bad. To avoid future entanglements and prevent the Hall family from targeting her and the children, she felt that enduring some hardship now was nothing.
Having thought it through, Violet felt that being his sexual partner wasn't a big deal. After all, they had already slept together once, and she had lost her virginity, so there was no need to care about chastity.
"You won't play tricks and hide from me again, right?" Brady looked at Violet intently.
Violet shook her head, somewhat resignedly saying, "You're so powerful, where could I hide?" Even if she hid, he would still find her.
"Good." Brady nodded, glanced at his wristwatch, and said, "I have to meet someone. You can hang out downstairs. I'll text you when it's time to leave."
Violet nodded helplessly, acknowledging Brady.
Seeing Violet become obedient, Brady didn't force her any further and went downstairs to meet Isabella.
Violet sat in the bedroom for a while, feeling extremely upset and conflicted. 'Brady shouldn't be the type to stay interested in a woman for years, right? Maybe he will get tired of me after 'dating' for just over a month? This way, I won't lose much.' She comforted herself before remembering to look for Emily.
She hurriedly left the bedroom and went downstairs to the spacious banquet hall. Before she could find Emily, a butler and a maid stopped her. "Are you Ms. Devereux?"
Violet nodded. "I am. Is there something you need?"
"We are the butler and maid of this estate. Mrs. Jones asks you to leave the party immediately. You're not welcome here," the butler said, glancing at Violet with disdain and contempt. "Leave now."
As he spoke, he began to push Violet roughly, almost causing her to fall. Once she steadied herself, she said, "Wait a minute. I'm looking for my friend."
Violet knew this kind of party wasn't for her, where people there were all from wealthy families, and she was just a nobody.
"Who is your friend?" The butler was already impatient, urging, "Ms. Devereux, please leave quickly."
"Emily Hart from the Hart Group," Violet said, enduring the butler's disdainful look.
Just then, Emily, who had been looking for Violet, finally saw her. She walked over quickly and grabbed Violet's wrist. "Violet, where did you go? I've been looking for you."
As Emily spoke, the butler didn't dare make a sound. The Hart Group was a big company, and he couldn't afford to offend them.
"Mrs. Jones asked me to leave," Violet said helplessly. "Should I wait outside?"
"She asked you to leave?" Emily was instantly furious. "Who does she think she is? Her family isn't even as wealthy as mine. Violet, there's no point in attending a party that panders to power. Let's go." Emily despised people who looked down on others, so there was no point in staying.
Violet nodded, but she couldn't leave immediately. Brady had asked her to wait, so she quietly pulled Emily aside and said, "Emily, why don't you stay and have fun for a while? I'll wait outside."
"No, let's go back," Emily said, unwilling to let Violet be wronged. She protectively pulled her to leave, but before they left, Emily stopped in front of the butler and started scolding him, "You're the butler, right? Let me tell you, Violet Devereux is my father's adopted daughter. If you dare look down on her, you're looking down on the Hart Group. Just wait and see." With that, she pulled Violet out.
The butler's face instantly turned pale with fear. He hadn't meant to; it was Isabella's idea.
After Emily and Violet walked outside, Violet glanced at Emily, who had spoken up for her, and decided to tell her that Brady was there. However, she felt embarrassed to share the rest with Emily, fearing that Emily might start disliking her, thinking her weak for succumbing to Brady.
But she had no choice. Taking a deep breath, she said to Emily with a helpless expression, "Emily, Brady Hall is here. He asked me to wait for him."
"What? Why did he ask you to wait for him?" As expected, Emily got emotional upon hearing Brady's name, worried that Violet would be bullied.
"It's nothing, just about resigning." Violet continued, "You go ahead. I need to talk to him; otherwise, I can't resign."
Emily was reluctant and wanted to stay with her, but Violet didn't want to involve her in this matter. After a long time, she finally convinced Emily to leave first, while she waited outside.
