Chapter 44 Miss Devereux, are you available for lunch?
Only someone as malicious as Lilian would come up with such a vicious oath. Violet looked at her, wanting nothing more than to grab the water cup on her desk and splash it on her face.
Tell her to leave.
But first, she must remain patient to achieve her goals.
Violet knew that she wasn't strong enough at the moment, that she couldn't act rashly.
So, she made this disgusting oath.
To prevent Lilian from harassing her in the future, causing trouble for her babies and Hellen, she suppressed her disgust and raised her right hand to swear for her.
After she finished, Lilian, satisfied said, "Good, I'll remember that."
"Then remember this too, don't come find me in the future, you are not welcome in my life."
"Heh, you think that you are welcome in mine?" Lilian lifted her heavily lined eyes in a menacing manner. "Don't be so delusional!"
"You can leave now." Violet really didn't want to see her.
Whenever she saw her, she thought of her mother.
If only the Devereux family had made a little effort, her mother wouldn't have died.
It was all because of them that her mother died.
She would remember this debt!
"Hmph." Lilian couldn't be bothered to stay any longer, she glared at Violet, clicked her high heels, and walked out of the office.
Although Lilian's interruption didn't hurt Violet, it ruined her good mood in the morning.
Especially when she was designing a hat for Lady Hall.
It completely disrupted her thoughts.
To avoid making mistakes, Violet got up and went to the pantry, brewed a cup of tea to calm herself down, and focus on thinking about the design style for Lady Hall's hat.
The pantry was empty at this time.
Violet opened a packet of tea and put it into her cup, added hot water, stirred it, then leaned back with the cup to alleviate the frustration from this morning.
She drank about half of the tea.
Finally, her best friend Emily called again.
She had already returned to her home country.
The moment Violet received Emily's call, her mood instantly brightened as if the clouds had cleared and she saw a rainbow. Her tone was excited, "Emily, are you really returning home?"
"Of course, I'm at the airport right now. I'll call you as soon as I land."
"That's great!”
"Is that so?"
Violet was still excited, her voice trembling a bit. "I'm currently at work and can't come to pick you up. I'll come find you after work tonight, how about that?"
"Haha, of course, that's great," Emily was equally excited. They hadn't seen each other in so many years. She almost forgot what Violet looked like.
Has she become even more beautiful? Violet had always been beautiful, like a little princess. In their eyes, If it wasn't for the troubles in her family, they could have studied abroad together and returned together, instead of being separated for so many years.
Emily couldn't think about that, it made her heart ache. "Come to the new apartment my dad bought for me after work. I won't go back to my parents' place for a few days. Let's chat properly."
"Alright." Violet nodded repeatedly. "Then, please send me the address of the apartment."
"Okay." Emily elongated the sound excitedly. "See you then."
"Without fail."
After hanging up with Emily, Violet's mood improved significantly. She got ready to go back to her desk with her cup of tea in hand.
Her phone rang again. Violet glanced at the unfamiliar number flashing on the screen. She hesitated for a moment before picking it up after a while.
The kind voice of Lady Hall came through the phone, "Miss Devereux, do you have time for lunch? Let's talk about hat designs."
