Chapter 728 Sorry, Our Company Can't Keep You
Inside the hospital, Calliope stayed with Charlotte as she received stitches and a blood transfusion.
After the treatment, Charlotte was out of immediate danger, but she would be left with scars.
Girls often care about their appearance, and the thought of Charlotte getting scars from a work injury made Calliope, who had a pure heart, feel that Charlotte had sacrificed a lot for the company.
Of course, this was exactly the effect Charlotte wanted.
From the conversation she overheard in the car earlier, she learned that Calliope and Brady had a close relationship.
She could use this to her advantage.
The two stayed in the emergency room for half an hour before Charlotte was stable enough to leave.
Calliope helped her out of the hospital.
Brady's car was waiting for them, it hadn't driven off.
Calliope helped Charlotte into the car, and Brady returned to the front passenger seat.
The driver restarted the car, and Brady glanced at Charlotte through the rearview mirror to confirm she was okay before asking, "Ms. Devereux, where do you live?"
"I live at Crystal Bay Apartments," Charlotte replied weakly, her eyes slightly downcast, making her look exhausted.
Seeing her so worn out, Brady hesitated to tell her she didn't need to come to the office tomorrow.
"Are you alright?" Brady continued with polite concern.
"I'm fine, thank you for your concern, Mr. Hall," Charlotte replied sweetly and strategically, "It's the responsibility of the PR department to help the Hall Group, and I'm willing to get hurt for it."
Calliope couldn't help but feel moved by this response and quickly told Brady about the scars the doctor mentioned, "Brady, Ms. Devereux was really brave to get hurt for the Hall Group. I was with her inside, and she didn't complain about the pain at all. The doctor said her wound is deep and will leave a scar."
"Brady, the Hall Group should give Ms. Devereux some kind of reward."
Brady frowned and didn't respond immediately.
Firing an employee who got injured on the job seemed heartless.
But she was from the Devereux family, and she couldn't stay.
Violet, who had been silent, turned to look at them, a hint of an unreadable expression in her eyes.
Was Charlotte really that noble?
Brady had told her about the incident earlier; Charlotte was the victim.
Would she be like Lilian?
"Brady?" Calliope called out again when Brady didn't respond.
"Calliope, have your department head arrange for Ms. Devereux's resignation tomorrow. I'll make sure she's compensated for her injury," Brady said calmly.
Calliope was shocked and didn't understand why Charlotte was suddenly being fired.
Charlotte had just gotten hurt for the Hall Group.
Shouldn't such an employee be rewarded with a promotion, not fired?
Calliope was completely confused. "Brady, why? Why is Charlotte being fired?"
"We'll discuss this later," Brady didn't want to elaborate.
Calliope wanted to ask more, but Charlotte spoke first, her expression mirroring Calliope's shock and sadness, though her eyes were calm and confident, "Mr. Hall, did I do something wrong? Is there something I need to improve? I like the work environment and atmosphere at the Hall Group."
"Is it because of the lipstick mark incident? I didn't do it on purpose."
Charlotte's voice was hoarse as she asked, and Violet frowned.
Lipstick mark? What had they been doing at the office?
"The lipstick mark incident doesn't matter, and I know it wasn't intentional. But regarding your resignation, I'm sorry, Ms. Devereux, our company can't keep you," Brady said indifferently.
Charlotte nodded and pretended a sad look, making Brady seem like the villain.
She suddenly apologized, "Mr. Hall, is it because I'm Eileen's niece? What she did has nothing to do with me. And the press conference my family held."
"If that's the reason, then I apologize to you."
