Chapter 939 At Least a Young Girl
Arthur hesitated for a moment before saying, "Alright, I'll do it."
"No need for that. Just follow my lead and stay out of sight," Brady replied, his voice steady from experience. He relaxed his clenched fists and continued, "We'll split into two teams. Arthur, you're with me. We're heading to the ventilation room. The rest of you, find Julie."
He had a plan to set the place ablaze.
Even if he didn't, he needed to lure Miles out.
After giving his orders, Brady couldn't linger. He opened the door, checked both directions, and led Arthur towards the ventilation room of their hideout.
The rest of the group went to search for Julie.
Luckily, the two male servants were from Vesperia, so they wouldn't raise any alarms while moving around.
Brady and Arthur kept their heads down and walked quickly through the corridor towards the base's ventilation room.
The ventilation room controlled the entire hideout's exhaust system.
If it caught fire, the whole place would be filled with smoke.
Meanwhile, Violet, who had been unconscious on the bed, finally woke up under the care of a maid.
The first thing she saw was an unfamiliar, luxurious room and a strange maid.
Instinctively, she was startled.
But she quickly regained her composure.
She remembered smelling something sweet in the villa on the island before passing out. It must have been something Miles used on her.
"You're awake," the middle-aged maid said cheerfully in the local language when she saw Violet stir.
Violet didn't understand her. She frowned and asked, "Where am I?"
"Are you from Crestoria?" The people at the base spoke both Crestoria and the local language.
They didn't interact much with the Crestoria people, so they usually spoke the local language.
Hearing her accent, the maid immediately switched to Crestoria. "Yes, so where am I?" Violet asked as she got out of bed.
The maid quickly moved to support her, showing concern. "You just woke up. You should rest a bit."
"No need. Just tell me where I am," Violet gently pushed her away and began to survey the luxurious bedroom.
The room was large and tastefully decorated. The marble floor was so polished it reflected her image, and the floor-to-ceiling windows on either side offered a view of a garden outside.
Could this be Miles' hideout?
Violet's heart skipped a beat.
"This is the base," the maid said, unsure of Violet's identity but figuring she could tell her since Miles had brought her here.
So it was Miles' hideout.
Violet couldn't stay calm anymore. Julie must be here, too.
Thinking of this, she quickly walked to the floor-to-ceiling window by the bed, trying to open it to see outside, but it was locked.
A password lock?
Violet immediately gave up and turned to the maid. "I want to see Miles."
"Mr. Gibson is in a meeting outside," the maid replied honestly.
"Fine, I'll go see him," Violet said, not waiting for the maid to stop her.
She quickly ran to the door connecting the bedroom to the meeting room outside and pulled it open.
The door opened with a sound, revealing a dim corridor.
Beyond the corridor was their meeting room.
Without pausing, Violet continued walking.
As she stepped out of the corridor, a bright and solemn meeting room appeared before her, with a dozen people, including Miles, looking at her.
Violet didn't flinch. She looked at Miles with a cold expression and said, "Where are you hiding Julie?"
Miles raised an eyebrow, his tone calm and indifferent. "I always thought you were smart, but don't you think your boundless kindness is a bit much? Is it worth risking your life for a traitor?"
"If you have so much time, shouldn't you be worrying about how to get out of here?"
"I don't care if she's a traitor. I only know that if I save her, my husband won't feel guilty," Violet said, confident that Brady would come for her. "Besides, I told you, Brady will come."
So, in the end, it was all about Brady.
Miles' thin lips curled slightly, mocking. "Once you're in here, no one leaves without my permission, including the traitor you're trying to protect."
He paused and added, "By the way, welcome to tonight's sacrificial ceremony."
"Be as arrogant as you want. Brady will come," Violet said, completely unafraid.
The tension between them was palpable, almost explosive.
The other base members were already secretly stunned.
They had always thought the woman Miles brought back was at least a young girl, if not wild.
But she was married?
