Chapter 684 Helen Told Him That She Forced Evelyn Away
James was floored, unable to process Helen's confession. "Helen, what did you do to her?" He already felt guilty about Evelyn, and now this bombshell made things even worse.
Helen had just admitted to driving Evelyn away all those years ago.
Did Evelyn want to go with him to Eldoria back then?
Was it because of Helen that Evelyn ended up marrying Gerry?
"How did you make her not come with me to Eldoria?" James's eyes turned icy.
He had thought Helen knew nothing about Evelyn. After he and Evelyn had their falling out and she got married, he spent a long time drowning his sorrows in Eldoria, living like a ghost, drunk and miserable.
He was a wreck, and it was Helen who took care of him, helping him slowly emerge from the darkness. Eventually, he married Helen, feeling guilty for doing so.
He loved Evelyn deeply, but had married Helen, so he tried his best to be good to her, to cherish her.
And now, Helen was telling him she had driven Evelyn away?
How was he supposed to accept this?
Helen probably didn't even know the kind of abuse Evelyn suffered in the Devereux family. That was why James was so angry now.
"I told her I was pregnant too," Helen said slowly. "I told her we were already engaged."
With everything out in the open, there was no need to hide anything anymore.
"Helen!" James felt a surge of pain in his chest, imagining how desperate and heartbroken Evelyn must have been upon hearing this.
And what was he doing at that time? He was arguing with her.
He hadn't fought for her, he had just left.
James felt like he deserved it.
Clutching his increasingly painful chest, he struggled to breathe, his face turning a shade of blue. Helen, panicking, pressed the emergency call button. "James, what's wrong?"
"Get out. I don't want to see you right now." James tried to push Helen away, but as he exerted himself, he passed out.
Helen was terrified, screaming for a doctor. "Doctor! Is there a doctor here?"
She didn't want anything to happen to James.
Once they found Juniper, if he wanted a divorce, she wouldn't object.
At the Devereux Villa.
Brady and Ethan had come to investigate together.
They brought a dozen bodyguards and searched every corner of the Devereux family estate, including the basement where Violet had been held, but found no trace of Juniper or Eileen.
They did find dried blood drag marks on the floor, which was not a good sign.
Brady frowned, deep in thought. Eileen didn't have any powerful relatives in New Future City, and given the uproar over the Lawson family heiress's disappearance, no one would risk sheltering her.
So, where could she have taken Juniper?
There were only a few hours left until 8 AM the next morning.
Time was tight.
"Mr. Hall, where do you think she might be hiding with Juniper?" Ethan asked, worried.
"I can't predict." Eileen's social circle was small, making it difficult to trace.
Brady couldn't guarantee anything, which made Ethan even more anxious. "How are we going to find Juniper?"
"Mr. Lawson, don't worry. I promised Violet I wouldn't let her down or stand by idly." Brady whispered a few instructions to his assistant, Eddy, who quickly ran off to carry them out.
Ethan stood there, his brow furrowed, unsure of what to do.
Brady checked his watch; it was almost 1:30 AM. Time was running out, and it would be harder to find someone as the night went on. Brady turned to Ethan. "Mr. Lawson, why don't you hold a press conference now? I suspect Eileen is waiting for you to make a move."
"We can't provoke her. We need to ensure Ms. Lawson's safety first."
Ethan nodded. "It seems that's our best option."
After a pause, Ethan added, "Mr. Hall, the police will definitely get involved. What then?"
"Don't worry. I'll find Ms. Lawson before the police step in."
Brady's words were reassuring, and Ethan felt a surprising amount of trust in him, preparing to hold the press conference.
Suddenly, a bodyguard who had been searching the kitchen ran out in a panic. "Mr. Hall, Pelinka's body is in the kitchen freezer."
Brady and Ethan exchanged a shocked look. They didn't need to guess who was responsible.
Eileen had truly lost her mind, killing even her mother-in-law.
Juniper was in grave danger every second she remained with Eileen.
