Chapter 762 But Why Did He Bring Her Out Even Though He Is Married
Everyone took their seats one by one, and the waiter started pouring some coffee.
Matilda picked up her cup of coffee, blew on it gently, took a small sip, and then said, "I invited you all here today because I need a favor."
So, this dinner had a purpose after all?
The ladies immediately perked up, all eyes on Matilda.
Could she be asking them about investments? They had no clue about that.
"Don't worry, it's nothing major," Matilda said with a warm smile, setting her coffee cup down.
"Matilda, whatever it is, just say the word. We're here to help," one of the ladies said, eager to please.
"Yeah, Matilda, you don't need to be formal with us. Just tell us what you need," another chimed in, and the rest quickly agreed.
Seeing their enthusiasm, Matilda decided to get straight to the point. "Alright, I'll be direct. I invited you all here because of Brady. I'm sure you've all heard the rumors about him supposedly having a mistress. Well, I'm here to tell you that's not true. And the young lady in question is right here with me."
Everyone was momentarily stunned, then curiously looked at the young girl sitting quietly next to Matilda.
No wonder they found the girl unfamiliar when she walked in with Matilda.
So, this was the girl from the rumors?
"Matilda, what's going on?" one of the ladies couldn't help but ask.
Matilda turned to Helena and said, "Helena, why don't you explain to everyone?"
Helena knew this was her chance to make a good impression on Matilda, so she obediently recounted the entire story.
When she finished, three of the ladies looked particularly uncomfortable.
Their husbands had been involved in the incident that sparked the rumors.
They had no idea what had happened and thought their husbands had seen Brady with a mistress at a party.
But it turned out their husbands were the ones fooling around.
"So that's what happened. Those rumors are awful. Mr. Hall is such a respectable young man; he would never do something like that," the others said, expressing their disdain for the rumor-mongers. "Whoever started this is truly malicious."
"Yeah, it's hard to clear up such nasty rumors."
"Luckily, Brady is a man of integrity and would never do such a thing."
"Don't worry, Matilda. We know the truth now and won't believe those rumors. We'll help clear things up."
"Yes, Matilda, you can count on us."
Matilda felt relieved, knowing they would help dispel the rumors. She smiled and said, "Thank you all so much."
"Matilda, there's no need to thank us. The Hall family is the victim here. We were just misled by hearsay. We're truly sorry."
"It was all a misunderstanding."
Matilda smiled happily. "Now that we've cleared this up, let's not dwell on it and spoil our meal."
The ladies agreed, "Yes, let's talk about something cheerful."
One of them asked, "By the way, Matilda, is it true that Violet is pregnant again?"
They had heard rumors about Violet's pregnancy but weren't sure if it was true.
Matilda took another sip of her coffee and said, "Yes, she is. She's due in just over three months."
"Oh, that's wonderful news!" they all congratulated her. "Matilda, congratulations!"
Matilda couldn't help but laugh excitedly.
"Did Mr. Hall find out? It's a girl?" they asked, curious.
"Yes, it's a girl," Matilda confirmed. She loved little girls and was thrilled at the thought of having another one in the family.
She imagined buying them all sorts of pretty dresses, bags, and shoes.
"Wow, Matilda, you're so lucky. Girls are so sweet and caring."
"Yes, Matilda, you're truly blessed."
Their compliments made Matilda beam with joy.
But Helena, sitting next to Matilda, was shocked.
The handsome CEO was married?
She had thought he was single. Why would he bring her along if he was married?
Helena couldn't help but wonder if he had feelings for her, but didn't want to show it right away.
Was this his way of keeping her around?
