Chapter 316 The Woman I Bring out Couldn't Look too Aggrieved
Soon, a bowl of aromatic chicken soup was brought out. The nanny carefully handed it to Violet and started praising Mr. Hall. "Ms. Devereux, Mr. Hall really cares about you. This morning, he reminded me to make soup for you tonight. I asked him what you like, and he said he forgot to ask but told me to make something girls usually like. So, I made chicken soup. I hope you like it."
"It's quite good," Violet said, knowing the nanny was praising Brady.
If Violet and Brady didn't have a child and hadn't gone through all those things, she might have been touched and more sincere in their relationship. But having a child changed everything.
Violet had to protect what was hers and couldn't let her heart get lost.
That way, if Brady ever left her, she wouldn't be so heartbroken.
"If you like it, there's plenty more in the kitchen!" The nanny was happy to serve her and had already decided that Ms. Devereux was the woman Mr. Hall loved.
Other girls often came to the high-end apartment before, but Mr. Hall never seemed to care much about them.
However, Ms. Devereux was different.
"Thank you, one bowl is enough," Violet politely declined.
The nanny continued, "Ms. Devereux, what other soups do you like? I'll make them for you next time."
"No need for the trouble. I don't usually drink much of soup," Violet replied.
"It's no trouble. If you come here often, I should make some soup for you, right?" the nanny insisted.
"Okay, then make whatever you like. I can drink anything," Violet had no other choice but to accept.
"Is there nothing you particularly like?"
"No," Violet replied.
"Alright. I'll make different soups for you to try," the nanny said with a smile.
Violet nodded awkwardly. The nanny was so enthusiastic that she felt embarrassed to refuse. She lowered her head and sipped the chicken soup. After a while, Brady finally returned.
Two unfamiliar women followed Brady in, each carrying a small silver case, closely trailing behind him.
Violet turned to look at them. Brady loosened his black tie, walked over to Violet, sat down, and affectionately put his arm around her shoulder. "Is the chicken soup the nanny made good?"
"It's good." Violet felt a bit uncomfortable with Brady's affection, her heart racing.
Brady smiled and gestured to the two young women who had followed him. "Come over here."
The two young women immediately walked over obediently and quickly opened the small cases they were carrying. As soon as they opened them, the contents made Violet's eyes widen.
One case contained a dazzling diamond necklace, and the other had a beautiful beige chiffon dress.
So, the gift Brady mentioned in his text meant these.
While Violet was mesmerized, Brady had one of the women take out the dazzling diamond necklace and personally put it on Violet. "This is the Queen's Necklace I bought at Christie's auction last year. It's for you."
"The Queen's Necklace?" Violet was stunned and reached out to touch the necklace. It felt cool, but she couldn't deny it had a unique charm when worn.
Seeing Violet holding the necklace, Brady thought she was going to pull it off and immediately grabbed her hand. "If you break it, that's $3 million gone."
$3 million?
So, this necklace was worth $3 million? Violet was shocked and looked at Brady in surprise.
He was being incredibly generous.
But the more generous he was, the more reluctant Violet felt to accept it. She carefully tried to take it off, saying, "This is too expensive. I can't accept it."
"I don't take back gifts I've given." Brady firmly held Violet's hand, preventing her from removing it.
Violet felt speechless.
If she really wore something worth $3 million outside, she might get robbed.
More importantly, Violet didn't want to accept such an expensive gift.
But Brady was determined to give it to her. He then took out the dress from the other case and said, "Try it on and see if it fits."
"Why are you suddenly giving me a dress?" Violet was puzzled.
"There's a private yacht party this weekend. I want to take you there." Brady smiled slightly, and he gently touched the soft skin by her ear, caressing it.
However, Brady's fingertips were a bit rough, and the touch on Violet's skin felt hot.
Violet instinctively tensed her jaw, not daring to move.
Brady continued to stroke her, clearly enjoying it. "I don't want the woman I take out to look too shabby."
"Go try it on," Brady asked.
Violet couldn't refuse Brady's request now because she needed his help to deal with the Devereux family. So, she let him caress her earlobe and cheek, obediently took the dress he gave her, and went to a small room to change.
