Chapter 172 Does She Have the Gall to Threaten You?

As expected of an Italian restaurant, the dishes served were quite upscale.

Yet, Violet Devereux wasn't particularly impressed with the cuisine; she quietly accompanied Brady Hall during the meal, and Brady kept the convo away from drama.

Instead, he was all about business.

Eager to expand JK's international presence, Brady hoped that JK could collaborate with designers from fashion shows abroad to create a global brand.

This plan was something her supervisor, Max, was also aware of.

Violet Devereux, currently an intern, naturally was not privy to the thoughts of the higher-ups.

But now, Brady Hall was sharing these plans with her.

His intention was clear; he wanted her to thrive at JK as a designer.

Perhaps even to become a well-known designer.

But was it possible?

Certainly, JK was an outstanding design firm, and she wouldn't quit if not for all the drama.

But after crossing paths with Henry and Nicole, she couldn't stay any longer.

Of course, Violet wouldn't share these thoughts with Brady Hall; she merely nodded in feigned agreement.

After that, Brady didn't say much, and they returned to the company after the meal.

At the office, Violet sat and found herself lost in thought over the international expansion Brady had mentioned earlier, though she didn't dwell on it.

She massaged her temples and decided to rest her head on the desk for a short nap.

In the afternoon, she had plans to visit the factory to work with the master tailor on bridal gown designs.

While Violet took her lunch break, Lilian Devereux was stewing over the morning events; she was thoroughly infuriated.

She couldn't quite gauge Violet's relationship with Brady Hall.

If Violet were truly Brady's girlfriend, Lilian wouldn't be able to touch her. Leaving her clueless about her next move.

Mulling it over, she had made her way to the Devereux residence.

At that hour, the Devereuxs had just finished lunch.

Mrs. Devereux was lounging in the living room, watching a TV drama, while her mother, Eileen Morgan, sat beside her, peeling oranges for her.

Eileen knew how to keep Mrs. Devereux in good spirits.

She had become adept at currying favor with Mrs. Devereux. After Violet Devereux was ousted from the Devereux family, the rumor mill churned with tales of Violet's mother's infidelity and curses she supposedly cast on Mrs. Devereux, wishing her ill.

To lend credence to the lies, she planted numerous curse totems in Violet's mother's room, all inscribed with hexes aimed at Mrs. Devereux.

Mrs. Devereux took the bait, hook, line, and sinker, cementing her deep-seated animosity towards Violet Devereux.

No one could harbor affection for a daughter-in-law accused of adultery and cursing the family, nor a granddaughter who purportedly followed in those ill-reputed footsteps.

Outside the villa's living room, Lilian Devereux strode from her car directly to Mrs. Devereux's side, clattering in her high heels.

Before even taking a seat, she crouched beside Mrs. Devereux's leg and began to sob theatrically, "Grandma, you have to help me. Violet Devereux is bullying me."

"What's the matter?" Mrs. Devereux, moved by her tears, immediately pulled her up. "Lilian, my dear granddaughter, don't cry. What happened?"

"Grandma, Violet Devereux is trying to steal Brady Hall from me. You know how much I like Brady Hall, and despite all that's happened before, I've kept my silence. But this time, it's different. She even threatened me," Lilian Devereux, sitting beside Mrs. Devereux and still brimming with tears, recounted.

Even Eileen Morgan had to admire her daughter's dramatics.

"What?" Mrs. Devereux fumed, her hand slamming onto the couch. "She dared to threaten you? Is she asking for trouble?"
