Chapter 153 This Man Is Awesome
Along with the deep voice, the presence of a tall man loomed closer.
Brady Hall knelt down gracefully beside tiny Henry and asked softly, "Tell dad, who's been bullying you?"
Henry finally turned to see Mr. Hall, the same man he had seen in the apartment building. His eyes widened in confusion; this was the man his mother had warned him against, saying he was dangerous.
They couldn't be around him, could they? Bad things might happen, right?
Henry's mind couldn't quite process the situation, and he didn't know what to say, staring at Brady Hall like a confused child.
And why was this man pretending to be his dad?
Yet, putting his mother's warnings aside, he thought this man truly looked impressive.
Behind him stood several men in sleek black suits, all waiting respectfully.
It reminded him of a scene from a cartoon he had watched the day before – a king followed by a host of guards.
Henry didn't know what a CEO was, so in his mind, Brady Hall might as well be as cool and formidable as the cartoon king, with numerous guards.
And the reality was, he indeed was awe-inspiring.
When the chunky kid's dad arrived and saw Brady Hall and his entourage of assistants and bodyguards, he was so frightened that he scooped up his son and tried to flee.
Brady Hall's bodyguards promptly blocked them.
"Stay put, please," the bodyguard ordered coolly.
Timmy's dad looked as if he might wet his pants, his face frozen with fear. The sort of commotion unfolding before him was something he'd only expect to see on a TV show - how on earth had it become his reality?
It really boiled down to his own son, the little troublemaker who had stirred up this whole mess.
He was itching to discipline his son right then and there.
"Yeah, pick on someone your own size, see where it gets you!"
Great, just great – his son had to go pick on the son of some big shot CEO.
"Look, sir, it's just kids fooling around, you don't need to make a big deal out of it," Timmy's dad began to wheedle in a low voice to the bodyguard.
Before he could finish, Timmy blurted out defiantly, "Dad, just hit him already! He took my ball!"
"Timmy, shut it! Just you wait till we get home," his dad, livid, promptly smacked him across the mouth – something Timmy had never experienced before, since his dad never laid a hand on him. Why today of all days?
Tears and snot ran down Timmy's face as he cried loudly, a complete mess.
Henry couldn't help but let out a snort of laughter.
Hellen wasn't finding anything funny, nearly having a heart attack with worry. What on earth was Mr. Hall thinking?
Hellen, gathering herself, quickly reached for Henry and agitatedly urged, "Let's go home, honey."
But Brady Hall gently interposed, "Hellen, can I take the kids out for lunch?"
"Thank you, Mr. Hall, but we'll have to pass on lunch today," Hellen said protectively, positioning Henry and Nicole behind her, her face a mix of wariness and anxiety as she addressed Brady Hall.
"We could go somewhere nice, there shouldn't be any issue," Brady Hall replied warmly, having developed an inexplicable protective feeling towards the twins.
Even though the paternity test had shown no biological links between them, he felt a certain connection.
He believed these kids were his.
But Hellen wasn't about to dine with him – she had managed to bluff him with a DNA test, so why would she get close to this man now?
How would she explain this to Violet?
Firmly refusing, Hellen saw Brady Hall didn’t press further but instead turned to Henry, "The kid earlier was picking on you. How about I have him apologize to you, would that be okay?"
Henry blinked, his eyes startlingly similar to Brady's, initially silent but eventually gave in to a little boy's burgeoning ego and nodded after a few seconds.
Brady Hall smiled at Henry's compliance – a genuinely handsome smile.
Then he signaled to the father and son pair, still held back by the bodyguard, who immediately understood and brought them over.
Once they were brought before Brady Hall, the pudgy boy's dad didn't wait for a word. He bowed like a guilty man and forced his son to apologize to Henry, "I'm sorry, our little guy was out of line. Please accept our apologies."
Though reluctant, the boy with the look of reluctance etched on his rounded face muttered to Henry, "I'm sorry."
After the apology, Brady asked Henry, "All good?"
Henry blinked, hesitated for a few more seconds, then nodded.
Content, Brady nodded back and gave a dismissive wave, gesturing to his security to escort the father and son away.
Henry watched the duo leave, then gazed up at the tall man beside him.
He felt a wave of admiration. This man was impressive.
He couldn't wait to tell his mom that this man had helped him, and he wasn't scary at all, like she had said.
