Chapter 834 Darian Might Suffer If He Continued to Pursue Violet
"Emily, what brings you here?" Violet's face turned red as she saw Emily standing there.
She was worried Emily might get the wrong idea about her meeting with Lucien.
"I just came for some coffee. Didn't know you had plans," Emily said, forcing a smile and trying to ignore the urge to glare at Lucien. "Violet, I'll leave you two to your coffee."
With that, Emily headed to her table.
Violet knew Emily well enough to understand that she wasn't indifferent to Lucien.
If she were, she wouldn't have left for six months after being rejected, only to return after having a baby.
She didn't want Emily to get the wrong idea.
"Professor Moreau, could you wait a moment? I need to talk to Emily," Violet said, standing up.
Lucien glanced at Emily, then back at Violet. He nodded, "Sure, Mrs. Hall, I'll wait."
It had been over six months since Lucien last saw Emily.
He had expected her to keep pursuing him after he turned her down.
But she didn't. She vanished from New Future City, only to reappear months later.
Lucien shrugged off the thought.
Violet quickly walked over to Emily and sat down beside her without hesitation. "You're not mad, are you?"
"Why would I be mad?" Emily took a sip of her coffee, smiling.
But was she not mad?
Emily wasn't angry at Violet, just frustrated with herself.
Seeing Lucien again after six months, she still felt drawn to him. But she wouldn't be foolish enough to chase after him again.
He didn't want her, so why should she humiliate herself by liking him?
Violet tugged at Emily's wrist. "He's meeting me today about Darian, not for personal reasons."
"Violet, I'm not upset about you meeting him," Emily said with a resigned smile. "We were never together. It was all in my head, so you don't need to worry about me being mad."
The only person she could be mad at was herself.
For being so weak.
"Really?" Violet asked, half-believing, still worried. "I was afraid you'd be upset that I met with him."
"Violet, you're overthinking it. You can meet whoever you want. I won't interfere," Emily sighed, putting down her coffee cup and pretending to be nonchalant.
"Alright then, I'll head back. He wants to talk about Darian, and I'm curious about it," Violet said, seeing that Emily seemed genuinely unbothered. She got up and returned to Lucien.
As soon as Violet left, Emily pinched the bridge of her nose hard, only stopping when it hurt.
She needed to toughen up and not let Lucien affect her.
Back at the table, Violet sat down across from Lucien and spoke first, "Professor Moreau, let's continue our conversation."
She wanted to finish quickly to avoid running into anyone she knew and becoming the subject of gossip.
"Alright," Lucien nodded, speaking with gentlemanly seriousness. "I would like to ask Mrs. Hall to go easy on Mr. Voss in the future."
Go easy on him?
Violet frowned, puzzled by Lucien's request.
What did he mean?
"Professor Moreau, could you be more specific?" Darian might bring up their past sometimes, but he was generally well-behaved.
He hadn't crossed any lines.
"We're in a business partnership now." She said.
"I know you're working together, Mrs. Hall. Please, don't give him any false hope or get too close to him," Lucien said, concerned that Darian might suffer if he continued to pursue Violet.
Darian was setting himself up for trouble by chasing after someone he shouldn't.
If things went south, even Lucien might not be able to protect him. So he had to ask Violet first.
