Chapter 652 Ten Million Dollars
The sharp pain in his chest made his heart ache intensely. Instinctively, he clutched at his chest. Seeing his unstable emotions, Eileen feared he might back out of helping and quickly said, "Mr. Lawson, you've seen it now. Can we discuss how to save Lilian?"
"Can you tell me how she died?" James asked, still clutching his increasingly painful chest, wanting to get to the bottom of it.
Eileen grew impatient. How did Evelyn die? Of course, she died of illness.
Could it be that they murdered her?
Eileen sneered. "She died because she was sick."
"Did she have a daughter? Where is her daughter?" James continued to ask.
"Mr. Lawson, aren't you asking too many questions? Let's keep things separate. Right now, it's about saving my daughter and exchanging this urn, right? As for her daughter, you'll need to offer something else in return." Eileen planned to extort him heavily.
"What do you want in return?" As long as he could find out Evelyn's daughter's whereabouts, he was willing to do anything.
He owed Evelyn a lot and wanted to make amends.
"Of course, money. We're not asking for much; how about ten million dollars?" Eileen said with a casual smile, making an outrageously excessive demand.
As soon as she finished, James's assistant frowned and said to James, "Mr. Lawson, this is blatant extortion."
Asking for ten million dollars just to find out someone's whereabouts?
If this wasn't extortion, what was?
But James didn't care. Ten million dollars was nothing to him. He didn't care about the money; he just wanted the information. So, he waved his hand at the assistant and said, "Prepare the ten million dollar transfer immediately."
The assistant was genuinely worried for him. "Mr. Lawson, please reconsider!"
After all, he could find out the information himself without spending extra money.
"I told you to do it, so do it." James didn't want to waste time. Evelyn was gone, and he wanted to see her daughter.
Especially since her daughter looked so much like him.
He strongly suspected she was his daughter.
The assistant, silenced by his reprimand, sighed inwardly and went to prepare the international transfer.
Eileen, hearing how readily he agreed, was overjoyed. Why hadn't she asked for more? She should have asked for fifty million dollars; ten million was too little.
Eileen was planning to extort him heavily.
"Mr. Lawson, I've reconsidered. Isn't ten million dollars a bit too little? I think..." Before she could finish raising the price, Violet and the others arrived.
Especially Brady, who, after walking in and overhearing Eileen mention ten million dollars, cut her off with a harsh laugh.
"Ten million just to track someone down?" His voice dripped with sarcasm. "Only you, Eileen, would have the nerve to demand that kind of money. Typical greed."
As Brady spoke, he slowly walked up to them. Eileen, seeing Brady and Violet, turned pale, her hands shaking as she held the wooden box. "Mr. Hall, what are you doing here?"
"Of course, I'm here to see if you're lying," Brady said coldly.
Eileen and Pelinka's faces grew even grimmer.
They knew that as long as Brady was around, their plan to extort James would fail.
"I'm not lying," Eileen said defensively.
"Eileen, let me make it clear. If you dare use my late mother-in-law's ashes to cause trouble, I can make sure you both join her. Do you want that?" Brady said heavily.
Eileen's heart trembled, her lips twitching as she said, "No, we didn't intend that."
"Then hand over the urn."
