Chapter 111 Serious Consequences If You Eat This Cake
As they exited the restaurant, the golden morning light bathed the city in a hazy glow, like a veil draped over everything.
Max led Violet towards the parking lot. On the way, Max took out his keys and said, "Violet, don't worry about what just happened. Mr. Gu isn't that petty." Of course, whether Brady Hall was really not petty, Max had no clue. He just wanted to comfort her at the moment.
But Violet’s mind wasn't focused on the incident at the restaurant where she accidentally sprayed Brady with juice. Instead, she wondered why Brady wanted to buy high end children's furniture and what he intended to do with it. The results of the paternity test hadn't even come out yet! Did he really want to steal her children? It couldn't be.
As a billionaire CEO, he could have any woman he wanted, from socialites to famous actresses. These women were willing to have his children. Why would he stoop so low as to snatch children that didn't belong to him?
But as a man, Brady was unpredictable to Violet. She was truly afraid that he might suddenly regret everything. That would be unacceptable.
"Violet, what are you thinking? I told you it's alright, don't overthink it," Max said, glancing over and discovering that Violet was lost in thought. Her beautiful face was filled with worry. He continued to console her, saying, "It's alright if you haven't thought much about it. Later, let's go back to the company and bring the fashion print design with us." Max then cautioned her, "I'll accompany you this time. Last time, when it was Lady Hall, I didn't join you because she only gave you small tasks. I trusted that you could handle them. But this time, it's a wedding dress, and it's Gosh's cousin, a celebrity in the industry."
"We need to put in extra effort." Violet Devereux nodded slightly, her tone serious. She didn't intend to dwell on Brady Hall's custom children's furniture anymore. She needed to focus on her work.
The paternity test would definitely turn out fine.
The car returned to JK, and Violet accompanied Max upstairs.
Upon arriving back at the office, Max went to his office to retrieve some samples of the fashion print designs for Gosh's cousin to choose from.
Meanwhile, Violet went to her own desk to get her design notebook. Once she had retrieved the notebook, she turned to go to Arthur Stanley’s table as instructed by Max earlier. Suddenly, she saw a familiar figure at the door.
Fanny, a senior wedding dress designer from the design department, walked over to Violet desk carrying a small and exquisite cake. She wore her stilettos and approached Violet with a smile, saying, "Violet, are you going to meet Miss Plahn, Gosh's cousin, later?"
Violet felt wary of Laura Murphy but not of Miss Plahn, so she naturally replied, "Yes, I'm leaving soon."
"Please take this cake with you for Miss Plahn. She loves the cakes from this bakery." Fanny continued to smile innocently and said, "First impressions are crucial, and I've already messed up my part. It's all up to you now. I'll be really happy if JK can establish a connection with such a celebrity as well."
"How much is this?" Violet politely asked, feeling hesitant to take the cake for free.
"Don't worry about the cost. I requested it from the finance department, and the company approved it," Fanny lied shamelessly to Violet, but the jealous glint in her eyes revealed her true nature.
Loraine Plahn has a severe mango allergy. If she ate this cake, the consequences would be dire. Violet Devereux would have no future at JK. She might even be arrested by the police.
Being new to the workplace, Violet Devereux was cautious of Laura Murphy but had not anticipated Fanny's plot against her.
Completely unaware of being deceived, she gratefully accepted the cake and said, "Thank you, Fanny."
"You're welcome! Good luck!" Fanny handed over the cake, gesturing her support, and returned to her own office.
Violet, holding the cake filled with crushed mango flesh, left the office to meet Gosh's cousin with Max.
