Chapter 136 Miss Annie, what rumors are you spreading? Where did I get a woman from?

"Cousin, what’s with you? Jumping at shadows like that, everything’s fine," Loraine Plahn had no idea what was going on with Brady Hall at his end and was baffled by his startled behavior.

"Oh, is she still there with you?" Arthur Stanley continued.

"Yeah."

"How about this—you both join us for dinner. And make sure to bring Ms. Devereux. It's a must."

"Why?" Loraine couldn't figure it out initially, but she caught on in a heartbeat and couldn't help but chuckle, "Cousin, have you taken a fancy to her?"

Arthur Stanley just laughed and said nothing more: "Just bring her along. The Majestic."

"Got it, gotta go." She hung up the phone, thinking her cousin might indeed have a thing for Violet Devereux, and glanced back at the woman sitting demurely, sipping tea.

A smile curled at the corner of her mouth.

Landing her cousin's affection wouldn’t be so bad.

After all, he was part of one of New York's prestigious families.

Which girl wouldn't want to break into that circle?

But fancying someone is one thing; marrying into these families is much harder.

Loraine thought it over but didn’t dwell much on it; if her cousin wanted to date someone, it was none of her business.

She approached the quietly tea-sipping Violet Devereux, “Ms. Devereux, how about joining us for dinner?”

"Ah?" Lost in thought about how she would spend time with her kids later, Violet was startled by Loraine's dinner invitation, "Loraine... there's no need, my family is waiting for me to have dinner."

"It’s a rare opportunity, come on, let's head out," Loraine said, grabbing her purse. “You wouldn’t turn down this small request, would you? Otherwise, we might not be able to work together anymore.”

At the mention of work, Violet had no choice but to agree.

Putting down her teacup, she hesitated for a few seconds before joining Loraine in the car to The Majestic.

The Majestic wasn’t far.

With Uncle Road out dropping off Leana, Loraine had to drive herself. But being a celebrity meant fully gearing up for a simple dinner out—sunglasses, baseball cap, and even a mask, she had it all.
After about 20 minutes, the car pulled into the underground parking lot of the Pearl Tower Grill.

Loraine Plahn stepped out with Violet Devereux, heading straight for the luxurious private dining room on the top floor of the restaurant.

As soon as they arrived at the door, Loraine knocked and proceeded inside.

Violet had thought it was just going to be the two of them for dinner. The notion of reserving such a large room for a party of two seemed a bit extravagant.

But as soon as she walked in, she understood why they were there.

Brady Hall and Arthur Stanley were present!

Catching sight of the distinguished man lounging in his chair, nonchalantly smoking, Violet's eyelids twitched. Had Loraine brought her here on purpose?

Whose idea was it—Brady Hall's or Arthur Stanley's?

While Violet was pondering this, Arthur Stanley greeted her warmly, "Ms. Devereux, come take a seat."

"Gosh, I had no idea you guys were here," Violet retorted, unwilling to sit. An incident earlier in the evening had given her a clear message—to stay away from Brady Hall. "So, I can't join you for dinner, sorry."

With that said, she made to leave.

"Why can't you dine with us? We're not the bad guys," Arthur inquired.

Violet pressed her lips together, glanced at the handsome, aloof man shrouded in the curl of white smoke, and said with gravitas, "I'm afraid if Mr. Hall's lady finds out I'm here, she might just run me over with her car."

"I value my life too much for accidents right now."

Indeed, she couldn't afford any trouble; she had twins to raise.

What would happen to her babies if something happened to her?

And so, she couldn't stay to dine.

After her remark, Arthur simply chuckled at the interesting turn of events, while Brady Hall, who had been silent, suddenly snuffed out his cigarette, his dark eyes fixed intently on the woman standing her ground, and said calmly, "Ms. Devereux, what rumors are you spreading? What woman do you think I have?"

Arthur laughed even harder at his friend's comment, while Violet's complexion turned peculiarly silent, caught off guard.
