Chapter 969 Who Made Her Dad Quite Fond of Austin?
Around 9:30 in the morning, Violet and Emily drove to the university where Lucien taught.
The two women got out of the car and, without wasting any time, walked side by side into the campus.
"What classes are you taking here lately?" Violet asked. The last time she had rushed to the private island, she hadn't had the chance to ask Emily properly.
Mentioning classes made Emily instinctively pull a face. She wasn't cut out for studying. From graduating from a private high school to studying abroad, a significant portion of the funding was provided by Douglas.
She still preferred having fun.
"Graduate studies in finance. My dad insisted I come here, thinking it would give me more opportunities to interact with Austin." She hadn't wanted to continue her studies, but her dad liked Austin so much that he pressured her into enrolling in Austin's graduate program.
"Mr. Hart really seems to like him, huh?" Violet sighed, linking her arm with Emily's. "Sorry, you have to go through this."
Emily gave a wry smile. She no longer felt too sorry for herself; life had to go on. "What can I do? My dad wasn't good at studying either. He has always had a deep admiration for academic achievers. So, when I was pursuing Lucien, he was unaware of the issues between our families and encouraged me to pursue him, even setting up a blind date. Who knew Lucien wouldn't even give me the time of day…"
"Well, don't rush into an engagement. Take your time to observe." Violet didn't want to be too direct, fearing it might upset Emily.
Just a gentle reminder.
Emily had finally decided to give up on Lucien.
If she said too much, it might make Emily feel worse.
Better to let her figure things out on her own.
"Don't worry. I thought about it a lot last night. I don't plan to get engaged right away. I'll date Austin for a while, get to know each other better, and then decide." Emily was determined to take this relationship seriously.
She no longer wanted to be the spoiled, unreasonable rich girl.
"Good." Violet nodded, not wanting to dwell on the heavy topic. She smiled and said, "Where's your classroom? I guess I'll be playing the role of a college student's mom today."
Emily pointed ahead. "It's on the second floor of that building."
"I just realized, is it okay for me to sit in on the class? I don't have a student ID." Violet suddenly remembered.
"It's fine. Austin's class won't kick you out." Emily pulled her along. "Let's hurry."
"Alright."
The two women quickened their pace towards the building.
As they ran along the tree-lined path, their beauty caught the attention of the male students on campus.
The guys stopped and stared at them.
One was beautiful and pure, the other lively and charming, each of them with a unique appeal.
Their school didn't have beauties like these.
The guys watched in a daze until the women's slender figures disappeared into the building.
Inside the building, Violet and Emily continued chatting and laughing as they made their way towards Austin's office.
But as they reached the office door, Emily suddenly stopped.
She remembered that Austin and Lucien shared an office.
But she had decided to give up on Lucien, so why should she care if he was in the office or not?
What if he wasn't there?
So, Emily took a deep breath and knocked on the door three times.
A clear male voice from inside said, "Come in." Emily couldn't tell if it was Austin or Lucien, but she decided not to care. She turned the doorknob and walked in with Violet.
