Chapter 254 I'll Call the Police
Violet found herself being manhandled into the basement by a pair of men. They roughly shoved her onto the cold, hard floor before locking the door behind them and departing in haste. Struggling to her feet, Violet pounded on the door, her voice echoing in the hollow space as she cried out, "Let me out! It's illegal to keep me here!" Her pleas fell on deaf ears, the silence outside the door a stark contrast to her desperate cries. Eventually, she ceased her shouting, conserving her energy. Her phone had been confiscated, leaving her without a means to summon aid. She clung to the hope that Emily had heard her cries and would come to her rescue.
Alone in the dark, damp basement, Violet forced herself to regain her composure. She refused to let the Devereux family manipulate her. She chastised herself for her naivety in trusting them, particularly after their machinations involving her and Brady. Her quest to find evidence to aid her mother still hinged on Quentin. Violet was familiar with the layout of the Devereux mansion, including the basement. She recalled a small door hidden behind a wooden panel. She began scouring the room for a tool to pry it open. Meanwhile, Emily burst into the living room, having heard Violet's cries for help from her car. She immediately confronted the Devereux family members present, demanding, "Where's Violet? Where have you hidden her?"
Emily was no stranger to the Devereux family's ill intentions toward Violet. She had arrived prepared for confrontation, but she hadn't anticipated their audacity to make someone disappear so blatantly. "Emily, mind your words. Show some respect for your elders," Anna, a senior member of the Devereux family, said condescendingly, holding a cup of coffee in her hands. "I stand by my words. So, I'll ask again, where is Violet? Where have you hidden her?" Emily advanced, pressing for an answer. "Emily, Violet left quite some time ago. Is that so hard to believe? We couldn't have possibly kept her here against her will," Eileen said coldly. "She left? When did she leave?" Emily wasn't a gullible child to be easily deceived. "I'm warning you, hiding her is illegal." Violet had specifically asked Emily to come along to prevent any mishaps. And now, she disappeared, and they were claiming she had left. If Violet had left, why hadn't she bid Emily farewell? "Emily, don't make false accusations," Eileen sneered, gesturing for the men to escort Emily out.
Emily retreated a step and took out her phone. "I'll leave on my own terms, but not without Violet. I'm going to call her now." She began dialing Violet's number, only to find it switched off.Emily's suspicion deepened. "Why would she suddenly leave and turn off her phone? I have to take her with me."
She swiftly dialed the police, pointing accusingly at Anna and Eileen. "If you don't hand over Violet, I'll call the police."
