Chapter 96 A Man's Instinct Made Him Stop
Brady had never taken the initiative to carry a woman back to his apartment before.
Violet was the first.
Although she had come to his apartment before with Henry and Nicole.
But that was for the paternity test matter.
It had nothing to do with today's events.
Brady didn't even know why he got the urge to come over and check when he received Arthur's call and saw that it was raining outside.
Sure enough, when he looked, the woman was really standing there.
Standing silly, getting soaked in the rain, waiting for Loraine Plahn to come out and see her?
It was truly idiotic.
Was this how the De Vere family had taught her?
Who was Loraine Plahn?
Someone who made her so allergic that she would consider killing her. How could she easily meet her again?
And she still wanted her to agree to the design?
In the end, she fainted after being drenched in the rain for so long.
Brady couldn't understand her, really.
But what he understood even less was himself.
He didn't really have any liking for her in the first place; he had only sought her out because he wanted a bed partner. But for some reason, when he saw it was raining, he wanted to check on her.
And then he came.
Brady suddenly furrowed his handsome brows. Just how desperate was he for a woman that he had to care about a mere bed partner?
But now wasn't the time to think about these things.
This foolish woman's body was running a fever.
She must have caught a slight fever from getting drenched in the rain.
After carrying her into the apartment, Brady called his private doctor and housekeeper for assistance.
While waiting for them to arrive.
This cleanliness-obsessed man, surprisingly, didn't mind Violet being all wet with rainwater and put her directly on his clean velvet bed.
Then, out of instinct, he wanted to help her take off her wet work dress.
However, just as his hand was about to touch her, his instinct as a man made him stop.
He didn't want to act indelicately or take advantage of her vulnerability.
So he simply covered her with a thin blanket and went to the living room to wait for the private doctor and the housekeeper.
As he sat on the spacious sofa, Brady took out a cigarette from the box and lit it with a snap.
Ignited.
Surrounded by a blue mist.
Before taking a few puffs, Arthur's call came in.
Brady swiped the screen and pressed the answer button. Arthur's voice, with a slight smile, came through the phone, "My cousin said someone is missing?"
"It has nothing to do with me," Brady replied indifferently, smoking and speaking casually.
"Hehe..." Arthur laughed softly, "It really has nothing to do with you? The security said a Bentley with a Beijing A license plate came to pick her up."
"There aren't many cars in New York with Beijing A plates."
"Tell me, did you take her away?"
Brady: ...
Pausing for a moment, he felt there was no need to hide, "I took her away."
"So, have you taken a genuine interest?" Arthur continued, "Are you serious or just messing around?"
Just as he had anticipated.
"You have too much free time? Why do you care about this?" Brady calmly said.
"Isn't it caring for your happiness?"
"Well, thanks then." Brady was ready to hang up the phone. "If there's nothing else, I'll hang up?"
"Okay, I won't disturb you." Arthur hung up the phone with a half-smile.
Brady threw his phone aside.
Continuing to bite the cigarette butt and smoke slowly.
After about 5 minutes, the private doctor and the housekeeper arrived one after the other.
Brady extinguished the cigarette butt and instructed his private doctor to treat Violet, while the housekeeper went to help her change clothes.
When they had removed Violet's wet work dress, the housekeeper became worried. There were only men's clothes here in Mr. Hall's place. Where could they find something for a girl to wear?
The housekeeper didn't bring any clothes either, so she had to go to the living room and find Brady, saying, "Mr. Hall, I've taken off Miss De Vere's clothes, but there are no girl's clothes in the apartment."
Brady made a sound of agreement, "Go to my wardrobe and pick out a shirt for her to wear."
The housekeeper understood and immediately turned around to get his white shirt.
