Chapter 685 Harboring Criminals, Reputation at Stake

"Mr. Lawson, you go ahead and start the press conference. I'll keep digging on my end. Eileen's gone off the deep end," Brady said, snapping back to reality and giving Ethan a stern look.

Ethan nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. "Alright, Mr. Hall, I'll leave it to you."

With that, Ethan took his team to prep for the press conference.

Brady stayed at the Devereux Villa, waiting for Eddy to pull up the surveillance footage from around the property.

Five minutes later, Eddy rushed in with a laptop. He opened it immediately upon seeing Brady and said, "Mr. Hall, Eileen shut down most of the cameras around the Devereux property, but she missed one. We got lucky and caught footage of her leaving."

As Eddy spoke, he quickly swiped his fingers across the laptop's touchpad.

Soon, the screen displayed footage of Eileen roughly dragging Juniper into a car. Eileen's movements were aggressive and wild, her eyes filled with malice, and she held a sharp knife in her hand.

Brady's eyes darkened, and his voice grew heavy. "Track her route immediately."

Eddy had already anticipated this and said, "Mr. Hall, I traced Eileen's movements. Her car disappeared on a certain road."

"What do you mean?"

"The surveillance on that road is incomplete. In other words, once she got on that road, we lost track of where she went," Eddy replied cautiously.

Brady's gaze shifted to the laptop screen. "Pull up the map of that road. Let me see."

Eddy nodded and quickly navigated the touchpad. The surveillance footage switched to a detailed map of New Future City.

Eddy continued to zoom in on the map until it focused on the road where Eileen had disappeared.

The road had two forks: one leading to Emerald Ridge Mountain and the other to the outskirts.

Eileen was most likely heading to the outskirts, but she could also be hiding near Emerald Ridge Mountain or somewhere along the way.

Brady studied the map intently for a moment before saying, "You take a team to the outskirts."

Eddy was puzzled. "Mr. Hall, do you think she took Juniper to the outskirts?"

"I don't have time to speculate. You take a team to the outskirts, and I'll take a team to Emerald Ridge Mountain," Brady said, closing the laptop and handing it to Eddy.

Eddy quickly gathered a team and headed to the outskirts.

Brady and the remaining team set off for Emerald Ridge Mountain.

It was already 2:30 in the afternoon.

Brady and his bodyguards drove up the winding roads of Emerald Ridge Mountain until they reached the flat peak. There, they found an old church and a few sturdy pine trees.

There was nothing else in sight.

Brady got out of the car and surveyed the area. Everything seemed normal, except the church doors were closed. He remembered that this church didn't close its doors to visitors until 5 PM.

Why were they closed so early today?

Brady walked a few steps forward and noticed a long, distinct tire track on the ground.

The track led from where he stood to the left side of the church and then disappeared behind the wall.

Behind the church was the mountain.

If Eileen had driven up here and then headed to the back mountain, it was a possibility.

Brady signaled to one of his bodyguards, who immediately went to knock on the church door to ask some questions.

The round door knocker clanged three times.

With a creak, a nun appeared, her hands clasped together, and asked gently, "May I help you?"

The bodyguard stepped back and showed her a photo of Juniper on his phone. "Have you seen this girl?"

The young nun glanced at the photo, her eyes betraying a flicker of panic. It was barely noticeable unless one were close.

"No, I'm sorry."

"Thank you." The bodyguard, unable to get any information, returned to Brady.

The young nun quickly closed the door, but just as she was about to shut it completely, Brady walked over and pushed it open forcefully.

The nun, unable to match his strength, stumbled back a few steps, her face showing signs of distress. "Sir, is there something else?"

Brady's smile didn't reach his eyes, and his voice was low and steady. "Harboring a criminal won't do your church's reputation any good."
