Chapter 338 Are You Trying to Set Me Up?

Oliver clutched his aching side and bolted out of the Hall Group building. Once he reached the open air, he finally took a moment to catch his breath. He glanced back at the towering, luxurious building.

He spat angrily at the ground, pressing his broad hand against the spot where Brady had kicked him. Remembering the blow, he muttered curses under his breath. "Damn it, is Violet really with Brady? Unbelievable!"

Suddenly, a realization hit him. He fumbled for his phone and dialed Lilian's number. She had been the one pushing him to confront Violet but had conveniently left out the fact that Violet was with Brady.

Was Lilian setting him up? Oliver was no fool; he wasn't dumb enough to willingly cross Brady.

Lilian didn't pick up right away. She answered just before it went to voicemail, her voice sweet. "Good morning, Oliver. What's up?"

"Lilian, you little witch, are you trying to set me up?" Oliver snapped over the phone.

Lilian, clueless about what had happened in the lobby, was taken aback. "Oliver, what are you talking about? How could I set you up?"

"Don't play dumb. If I hadn't come to see Violet today, I wouldn't have known she's really with Brady!" The more Oliver thought about it, the angrier he got.

He had once seen Brady and Violet together at the golf course but had dismissed it as a coincidence.

Plus, Violet had always seemed single, and he hadn't heard anything about Brady keeping a mistress.

Oliver had thought Violet was coincidentally staying with Brady.

But after Brady’s aggressive intervention, it was clear there was more to it. If Brady hadn’t cared, he wouldn’t have physically reacted like that.

"What? You went to the Hall Group building today?" Lilian was shocked, her brows furrowing. She forced herself to stay calm and played along. "You must be mistaken."

"I can't be mistaken! I just went to grab Violet, that bitch, and Brady came over and kicked me. Lilian, you must be trying to set me up!" Oliver gritted his teeth, his side still throbbing from the kick.

Lilian finally understood what had happened, but she still needed Oliver to go against Violet. So, even though she knew, she pretended to be indifferent. "Oliver, you're overthinking it. Mr. Hall wouldn't be interested in her. You must have caused a scene in the lobby, and Brady stepped in because of that. I'm telling you, there's nothing going on between them!"

"Lilian, don't lie to me!" Oliver didn't believe her.

Lilian continued to coax him. "Oliver, why would I lie to you? What would I gain from it? You and I both dislike Violet for the same reasons. And don't forget, she was unfaithful to you."

She continued, her tone gentle yet persuasive. "Oliver, think about it calmly. What kind of man is Brady? Why would he be interested in a woman like Violet? The Hall family wouldn't approve either."

"Oliver, don't overthink it." Lilian gently reassured him.

Oliver, known for his simplicity and impulsiveness, found himself swayed by Lilian's words. He softened his tone. "Are you sure they have nothing going on?"

"I have no reason to lie to you. If I'm lying, may I get hit by a car when I step outside!" Lilian swore through gritted teeth.

Oliver thought for a moment, his mind once again clouded by Lilian. "Alright, I'll believe you this time."

"Oliver, next time you go after Violet, don't let so many people know. We need to be discreet." Lilian suggested.

Of course, Oliver wanted to get back at Violet for cheating discreetly. He had come today just to test the waters. "I got it. That's all for now."

Oliver hung up and immediately called over an assistant who had been following him. "Take me to the nearest hospital right away. I don't want my kidney ruined."

The assistant nodded and carefully helped Oliver to a nearby car.
