Chapter 1045 From now on, no one is allowed to have any contact with the Moreau family, got it?
Lucien parked his car outside the Hart Villa and turned off the engine. He sat there for a moment, fingers drumming on the steering wheel, staring up at the second floor through the windshield. After a deep breath, he pulled out his phone and sent a quick text to Emily. "Hey, Emily. Don't stress about Austin. I'll take care of it."
Emily, who had just started to calm down, saw Lucien's message and felt her anxiety spike again. She really didn't want to deal with anyone right now. Ignoring the message, she turned off her phone and tossed it aside.
Lucien, not getting a reply, figured she was still upset and decided to give her some space. He stayed in his car for another hour, just in case she needed him, before finally driving away.
Inside the villa, in the living room, Emily and her sister Elodie came downstairs to find their father, Douglas, waiting for them with a stern look on his face. Emily knew she couldn't avoid this confrontation and decided to face it head-on.
She walked over, sat down across from Douglas, and said, "Dad, I'm really sorry for all the trouble I've caused."
Douglas frowned, ready to scold her, but seeing her tear-streaked face, his anger softened. Emily was his beloved daughter, and he had always spoiled her.
With a heavy sigh, Douglas said, "Emily, Austin told me about you and Lucien... Do you have any idea how much this hurts Mr. Roberts?"
Emily lowered her head, tears welling up again. The situation wasn't as Austin had described. "Dad, it's not like that. Professor Moreau and I didn't do anything."
"But you did spend the night out together, didn't you?" Douglas's voice was strained with frustration. Just thinking about it made his blood boil.
Suppressing his anger, he continued, "You know how the Moreau family treated us back in the day. Why would you get involved with him?"
Those years of oppression were humiliating for Douglas. But for the sake of baby Emily and his wife, he endured it all. It was a period of deep humiliation.
Initially, he was unaware that Lucien was from the Moreau family and had even encouraged Emily to date him. But once he found out, he strictly forbade their relationship. Who knew Emily wouldn't listen?
Given his disapproval and their families' history, why would she still get involved? Was she trying to make a fool of him?
"I didn't do anything that night," Emily insisted, biting her lip. "Dad, I swear, I really didn't."
"Enough, let's not talk about it anymore. From now on, you are not to have any contact with anyone from the Moreau family. Understood?" Douglas said sternly. He wasn't just saying it lightly; he was very serious.
Emily pressed her lips together and nodded silently. She and Lucien were never meant to be, and she had no intention of seeking him out again.
"Alright, you two need to stop fighting. Austin is also to blame for this," Elodie interjected, trying to ease the tension. "Douglas, I think we should find a suitable match for Emily. Stop focusing on him being an intellectual."
"I've realized that intellectuals might not be the best fit for our family. I plan to introduce Emily to my friend's son. His family is in the food industry, and he's hardworking, helping out in his father's company. Someone like that might be a better match for our Emily."
Elodie continued, "Plus, I know my friend's son well. They even played together when they were kids."
Douglas frowned. With the Austin situation unresolved, he wasn't keen on setting Emily up with someone new. Emily felt the same and immediately refused, "Mom, I'm not in the mood for dating right now."
"How can you not be? With Austin acting like this, he might come back for you. You need to find a boyfriend quickly," Elodie sighed. She had been worrying about this. She feared Austin would come back to pester Emily, which would be a real problem.
