Chapter 114: In the End, She's Just Too Easy to Bully

At the private hospital in New York, when Loraine was brought in for emergency treatment, Arthur immediately arranged a group of bodyguards to surround her, preventing paparazzi, fans, and onlookers from approaching the celebrity. Violet and Max were allowed to pass through with Loraine’s hospitalization because of their connection to JK.

They were not stopped by the bodyguards and were allowed to wait outside the VIP ward in the emergency center. After half an hour of rescue efforts, Loraine was finally wheeled out of the emergency room, but she needed to be transferred to the intensive care unit for rest. Violet initially wanted to go and see what happened, but Max held her back and brought her to an empty room next to the nurse's station to ask about the cake incident.

"I also bear responsibility for what happened today. I didn't check the cake you brought," Max said.

"Mr. Green, I didn't buy the cake," Violet didn't want to take the blame for this.

"Who bought it?" Max had always thought that she researched Loraine and bought the cake specifically based on her preferences.

"Fanny, the designer, gave it to me this morning."

"Fanny?" Max Green furrowed his brow, finding it a bit hard to believe.

Fanny had been with JK much longer than him, even before he was abruptly promoted to the position of director. As a seasoned designer, Max didn't think she would do something to frame Violet. "Violet, are you sure it was her?"

"It was. You can call Fanny and ask," Violet said, refusing to compromise.

In the past, she might have foolishly taken all the blame upon herself, but now she wouldn't. She knew she might not stay at JK for long, and the designers at JK had always been biased against her. Although she didn't know where their prejudice came from, since they often caused trouble for her, why should she be a pushover?

Moreover, she didn't lie or embellish the truth in this matter. She just wanted to do her job as a designer at JK honestly and uprightly.

Max Green was skeptical. He knew Violet was not a girl who lied. After hesitating for a moment, he said, "I'll call her now."

Violet Devereux nodded, and Max Green went to make the call.

The call was quickly answered, and it seemed that Fanny already knew that Violet would truthfully explain the cake incident. She wasn't surprised at all, nor was she panic-stricken. Instead, she calmly spoke to Max, "Mr. Green, is there something you need from me?"

"Um, are you the one who gave Violet the cake this morning?" Max Green asked in a gentle tone.

"I did," Fanny casually replied. "Is there a problem?"

"Do you know about Miss Plahn's mango allergy? Did you really give it to her?" Max furrowed his brow deeper.

"I didn't know. If I had, I wouldn't have bought her that cake," Fanny deliberately sounded distressed and low-spirited. "Mr. Green, I'm sorry. It was my negligence that caused Miss Plahn's allergy."

"You can deduct a month's salary from mine." Fanny pretended to be sincere after a moment of acting aggrieved. "I'm truly sorry."

"If you were unaware, how could I punish you?" Besides, she was an older employee at JK, and it wasn't intentional. It wouldn't be fair to penalize her. "Let it go; Loraine probably won't want to collaborate with us at JK anymore."

"Oh? Really? Mr. Green... I am genuinely sorry." Upon hearing this, Fanny held back her laughter and pretended to be remorseful through the phone.

“I’ll hang up now.” Since he understood the situation, Max hung up the phone.

As soon as he ended the call, Violet on the other side almost understood what he was talking about with Fanny. So, she deliberately played with her, just to sabotage her own opportunity to work on the design project for Loraine Plahn?

Indeed, how 'thoughtful'! Violet Devereux tightly pursed her lips. She really couldn't understand what she did to offend these designers. Since she joined, she had been diligently completing all the trivial tasks assigned to her.

Even when Laura Murphy intentionally mocked or arranged for her to visit various factories, she had no complaints. She just wanted to be a good designer and earn money to support her family.

But in the end, she was too easy to bully.

Chapter 115: Both of Them Had Good Intentions

"Violet, why don't you go back first?" Now that everything was clear, Max didn't intend to hold her responsible. Fanny had a share of the blame in this matter as well. Of course, the main issue was that they didn't know about Loraine’s mango allergy. Therefore, both of them had good intentions.

However, since they had caused trouble, he didn't want to pursue it further. If Loraine didn't want to collaborate with JK in the future, it wouldn't matter. There would still be opportunities to work with other celebrities.

This was how Max saw it, but Violet had a different perspective. She had joined JK to become a renowned designer and fulfill her dream while raising her two children. However, if this matter wasn't resolved, she couldn't just let it slide. If they brushed it off this time, the next time she received a project from another celebrity, the other JK designers might still try tactics to prevent her from independently designing.

Therefore, she refused to accept defeat this time. She was determined to secure Loraine’s project. It was her easy-going nature in the past that had allowed her stepmother and stepsister to bully her. Eventually, her own mother fell ill and tragically died, and she was driven out.

Being kind made one vulnerable, a lesson everyone understood. She didn't want to be weak anymore. So, with this idea in mind, Violet sincerely and seriously said to Max, "Mr. Green, Miss Plahn's situation is my fault. I want to go visit her and see how she's doing."

Max hesitated a little. He was worried that Loraine would vent her anger on Violet and make her suffer. With the intention of protecting her, he hoped she would return to the company first. "You caused such a big commotion just now. She definitely won't give you a warm reception. You should go back to the company, and I'll handle it."

"Mr. Green, I don't want to avoid this matter. Can you give me a chance? I want to retrieve this project." Violet was unusually determined.

Max was taken aback. There was no way this project could be salvaged. How could she still have confidence in recovering it? "Violet, it's impossible now. If you want to stay here, then apologize with me."

"Mr. Green, trust me." After saying that, Violet headed towards the VIP isolation ward.

Looking at her slender and beautiful figure, Max Green was momentarily stunned. Soon, a faint smile appeared on his lips. This type of person that Violet was really made people like her. She faced problems without escape or retreat. He hadn't misjudged her.

Outside the VIP isolation ward, there were several black-clad bodyguards already guarding Loraine's room, preventing any disturbances. Violet walked over, glanced at the guarded door, and fell into deep thought. With a remorseful tone, she asked one of the bodyguards, "Hello, may I go in and see Miss Plahn?"

The bodyguard looked at Violet with his slitted eyes, and even though she was beautiful, he coldly refused, saying, "Miss Plahn has instructed not to see anyone right now, especially JK's designers."

Sure enough, Loraine had no intention of working with JK. Violet bit her lip and asked, "Then... when can I?" She planned to stay here today. One day should be enough to see her, right?

"I don't know," the bodyguard replied coldly.

Violet didn't ask any further questions and obediently sat on a nearby bench, waiting for Loraine.

Max came out of the small room just now and sat next to Violet for a few words before returning to the company. The company needed someone to be present at the headquarters, and he couldn't waste time at the hospital.

As Max left, Violet sat alone, thinking about what to say when she met Loraine.

Soon, a quiet hospital corridor was filled with the sound of footsteps, followed by the low murmurs and exclamations of medical staff. As if a big celebrity had arrived. Violet couldn't help but look towards where the footsteps were coming from. She was stunned when she saw Brady.

Of course, accompanying Brady were Arthur Stanley, Loraine’s fiancé. All three of them were extremely good-looking, no wonder the medical staff exclaimed.

Violet Devereux felt nothing towards them, took a glance, then looked away and continued sitting there.
