Chapter 870 He Is Ruined Today

The police officer frowned slightly.

Darian's answers were so precise, it made him think he might have some counter-surveillance training. "Your teacher was unconscious. How could she have written this letter?"

"Sir, people don't stay unconscious forever. She was somewhat conscious when she was brought here."

The officer frowned again. "Do you have surveillance in your apartment? We need to investigate."

Darian shrugged. "Nope, I don't like the feeling of being watched, so I didn't install any." He paused and continued, "I know you want to suspect me, but you need evidence. Besides, I've already notified my lawyer. You can talk to my lawyer if you have any questions."

His answers were flawless.

The officer was getting a headache. Darian was the culprit, but there was no solid evidence to arrest him. "Mr. Johnson, if what you say is true, why was your teacher found in your basement?"

Darian let out a cold laugh. "Isn't it my freedom to put her wherever I want? I didn't kill her."

"But you didn't have to put her in the basement. She was your mentor."

Darian raised an eyebrow and said calmly, "You can suspect me, but that doesn't mean I'm the killer. So can I leave now?"

The officer put down his pen and said, "Sorry, no. Since she was found in your apartment, you'll have to stay here."

Hearing that he couldn't leave, Darian didn't get agitated. He simply said, "The killer is Brady. Aren't you going to investigate him?"

"We will investigate Mr. Hall as well. We will find out who the real killer is and who isn't. We won't wrong an innocent person, nor will we let a guilty one go."

Darian didn't want to say more. He decided to wait for his assistant and lawyer to arrive.

Meanwhile, Lucien and Alaric rushed over as soon as they heard Darian had been taken in.

As they arrived, they saw another of Darian's assistants hurrying over.

His clothes were a bit disheveled, and he looked quite distressed.

Alaric quickly blocked his path and asked, "Dean Palmer, why are you here too?"

Dean, who was also one of Darian's assistants, usually handled external affairs.

Alaric was responsible for many personal matters.

Dean looked pale and worn out, frowning as he said, "I'm here to confess."

If it weren't for the need to repay his high-interest loans, he wouldn't have taken the fall for Darian.

"Confess?" Alaric and Lucien were momentarily stunned.

"I kidnapped Jade," Dean said quickly before heading inside to turn himself in.

Alaric and Lucien were left in shock.

What was going on?

"Professor Moreau, if Dean did it, does that mean Darian is off the hook?" Alaric quickly regained his composure and asked seriously.

Lucien felt that things weren't that simple. Darian had been obsessed with Violet lately, ignoring all their advice.

Now, this had happened.

Everyone was dragged into this mess.

It couldn't be that simple.

"I can't be sure," Lucien said thoughtfully.

Alaric became anxious. "Does this mean Darian is involved?"

"I have a feeling he's not entirely innocent," Lucien said, feeling a headache coming on.

Now that Brady was involved, even if he wanted to help Darian, he couldn't.

"What should we do?" Alaric was panicking. If Darian went to jail, their studio would be done for.

All the reputation and wealth he had built abroad would be gone.

Especially since this wasn't abroad, where you could bail someone out with a hefty sum. This was Crestoria, where the law was always fair and just.

They wouldn't wrong an innocent person, nor would they let a guilty one go.

"Let's go see what's happening. Worrying here won't help," Lucien sighed.

He had already mentally prepared himself for the possibility that Darian might go to jail. If that happened, the best he could do was hire a good lawyer to reduce his sentence.

That was the last thing he could do for Darian.
