Chapter 174 This Feeling Isn't Love

As the workday ended, a breathtaking evening glow began to take over the entire New York sky in hues of fiery orange and soft pink, casting a mesmerizing glow over the city.

The heavens were ablaze.

Violet Devereux was in a garment factory with a collaboration agreement with JK, working nervously with the tailors to rush the wedding dress for Loraine Plahn.

The tailors, handling a wedding dress for the first time, struggled a bit with the unfamiliar task.

They studied Violet's sketches for a long time before beginning to pattern and process the gown.

Because Loraine Plahn was a celebrity.

Her materials had to be the finest.

Including the unique flowing chiffon she had designed especially for her; it couldn't be the ordinary kind found in stores. Her chiffon would definitely be top-grade.

A small piece of the fabric costs a thousand dollars.

So, just the material costs for the dress were over fifty thousand dollars. With the later addition of pearls and rhinestones for embellishments, the total could reach two hundred thousand dollars.

But for celebrities, two hundred thousand was a trifling matter.

A wealthy starlet like Loraine Plahn wouldn't care about the expense.

She just wanted a dress that was beautiful and to her liking.

So, Violet Devereux spent the afternoon at the factory, supervising the tailors until the prototype was made. After checking it several times and finding no issues, she finally left work feeling assured.
Before leaving the seamstress' private office at the dress factory, she made it a point to instruct her with care, "Remember, this gown is for a very important VIP client of JK. She wants it kept secret until the final product is revealed—just between the two of us."

The seamstress understood the gravity of client confidentiality and reassured her with a smile. "Miss Devereux, rest assured, our five-year partnership with JK speaks for itself—we're well aware of professional ethics."

"Thank you so much," Violet Devereux said, genuinely appreciative of the discretion.

Loraine Plahn was a star who had made it clear that any news about her engagement, especially the dress, was to remain under wraps until she decided to release it herself on Facebook.

Violet, of course, intended to honor this confidentiality fully.

"No problem, Miss Devereux," the seamstress said kindly, smiling back at her. "You can trust us."

Miss Devereux was truly stunning, handling her work with such sincerity and focus.

She was still an intern, yet her performance was indistinguishable from that of a full-time veteran employee.

Having worked in this factory for years, he rarely came across a designer oozing with such vitality and promise as Miss Devereux.

Nodding, Violet said, "I'll be back tomorrow; it's time to clock out for the day."

The crafty seamstress saw her out, quite fond of this new designer at JK.

Of course, it wasn't romantic—he was in his 40s with a daughter her age. His fondness stemmed from her enthusiastic and warm approach to work; it was refreshing to see such spirit in a young woman.

Feeling embarrassed by his insistence on escorting her out, Violet eventually gave in, allowing him to accompany her to the factory's exit before he turned back.

Outside, Violet took a moment to admire the night sky brushed with New York’s city lights, realizing how beautiful the evening was.

It was a rare moment of relaxation for her.

After standing briefly, she hurried to catch the subway home; she was eager to spend time with her two adorable little ones.

Walking along, she remembered she owed her best friend Emily a dinner invitation—the last time she was supposed to celebrate her own birthday, Brady Hall had thrown a wrench in the plans. Now, it was the perfect moment.

Tomorrow, she would be free and could treat everyone, including her little ones, to a delightful meal out.

But as soon as Violet left the factory, a white Toyota rolled into the parking lot.

Laura knew Violet Devereux was there today to get Loraine Plahn's wedding dress. She was not going to let her off easy.
