Chapter 1007 This Time Going Out with Emily, Finally Experienced the Joy of Being Wealthy

"Was it really him who helped?" Austin's face tightened for a moment before he reluctantly asked.

Eugene's lips curled slightly. "Of course, Joseph is one of the top cardiologists in the country, maybe even the world. Do you think I could've arranged that?"

Austin got it now. It had to be Lucien stirring up trouble!

Did Emily know?

If she didn't, then it was all good.

"Alright, I got it." Austin thought for a moment, planning to go back and test Emily right away.

He needed to see if she had been in contact with Lucien privately.

With that thought, Austin quickly said goodbye to Eugene and headed upstairs.

Rushing upstairs, he found Douglas and Elodie discussing where to eat later.

Emily was sitting nearby, looking somewhat preoccupied.

Austin's heart sank. He had a feeling Emily might know.

If she knew, then what did that make him?

Austin thought about how he had finally gotten his hands on something valuable, only for Lucien to potentially snatch it away. He couldn't accept that.

So, after a few seconds of silence, he strode over.

As he approached, he maintained a gentle smile and said, "Emily, I need to talk to you about something."

"Sure, what is it?" Emily looked at him, her gaze calm.

"Come with me," Austin said as he led her to a side corridor.

Once they were a bit away from Douglas and Elodie, he stopped and asked, "Emily, do you know about Lucien and Joseph's relationship?"

Austin's question was blunt, causing Emily's heart to skip a beat. After a few seconds, she replied, "How would I know?"

Austin carefully observed her expression, trying to see if she was lying. But Emily seemed genuine, and he couldn't tell, so he let it go. "Alright, I thought you might know."

"No, why did you suddenly ask about this?" Emily deliberately countered.

Austin chuckled, pretending to be relaxed. "A classmate just mentioned it. It's funny how fate works, running into Professor Moreau's relatives everywhere."

Emily responded with a nod, not saying much more.

But inside, she was still a bit anxious.

She really needed to find a way to shake off Lucien's entanglement, or her parents would be disappointed in her.

Austin would be upset, too.

In the afternoon, Douglas, grateful for Austin's help, took him to a luxury store to buy a bunch of high-end items for him and his family.

Austin initially refused, but when it came time to pay, he didn't hold back, picking out over a dozen items.

From belts and scarves to watches and limited edition cameras, he accepted everything.

Douglas, in high spirits, was happy to buy as much as Austin wanted.

In the end, the total bill came to $500,000.

Austin pretended to be concerned about the cost, but he was quick to accept the gifts. Everyone was happy because Douglas's health checkup had gone well, so spending $500,000 didn't matter.

After all, that amount of money was nothing to Emily's family.

Leaving the luxury store, Douglas felt a bit tired and decided not to join the younger folks for more shopping, heading back to the hotel with Elodie to rest.

Austin and Emily continued to shop together.

Emily didn't mind.

Accompanying Austin through the luxury shopping district, Emily, who had been buying high-end items since childhood, was no longer interested in them. But Austin, whose family wasn't poor but couldn't afford to spend lavishly, was thrilled.

This trip with Emily allowed him to experience the joy of being wealthy.

Indeed, having money was great. Spending $500,000 without batting an eye, just swiping the card.

Just from today's shopping spree, Austin's sense of inferiority quickly gave way to ambition. He was determined to marry Emily.

With Douglas's checkup complete, they didn't stay in America much longer. The next morning, they bought plane tickets to return home. Emily still had to be Violet's bridesmaid.

On the return trip from America, Lucien didn't bother her.

Because Brady had sent him a message, revealing Austin's hidden secrets.

As he suspected, Austin was not a good man.
