Chapter 979 Has He Really Become More and More of a Wife's Slave?
"By the time you sort this out, I'll be in my coffin," Marlowe knew her precious grandson Lucien would say something like that.
She immediately put on a show, plopping down on the couch and starting to cry dramatically. "Of course, in your eyes, my words mean nothing. It's all because your grandfather died early, leaving me alone. What's the point of living like this? Might as well have taken me with him, save everyone the trouble."
"I live just to watch other grandmothers hold their great-grandchildren, while I have nothing. What's the point of my life?"
"Might as well have your grandfather take me away."
Marlowe cried and complained pitifully, leaving Rowan and Lucien's father, Terry Moreau, completely helpless.
They couldn't persuade her, so they had to let Lucien try.
Lucien was at a loss, too. He had been reconsidering things with Emily lately. Willow? He didn't have the energy to deal with that.
But Marlowe's health wasn't great, and he couldn't risk her getting sick from stress. He had no choice but to compromise. "Grandma, tomorrow, right? But if I don't like her, you can't force me."
Seeing him agree, Marlowe stopped crying and said, "Alright, just go and see."
Willow was quite pretty, and Marlowe was sure Lucien would like her.
"Okay."
With that settled, Marlowe stopped her act and happily chatted with Rowan about family matters.
Lucien and Terry were left feeling helpless.
The next day, it was finally time for the class reunion, just before 7 PM.
Violet had fed the baby and given him a bath. She went to the walk-in closet to pick out a dress.
Honestly, she didn't want to dress up too much, but she couldn't let those classmates who bullied her and Emily laugh at her expense. So, she carefully chose a pricey pale pink chiffon dress.
Brady had bought this dress for her, and he had pretty good taste.
The dress wasn't too flashy or overly sexy; it was fresh and elegant.
Violet put on the dress and was about to zip it up when Brady came home from work. He went upstairs to find her and saw her standing in front of the mirror, struggling with the zipper on the back of her dress.
The soft lighting in the closet gently highlighted her delicate back, adding a touch of tenderness.
Brady leaned against the doorframe, one hand in his pocket, watching her intently.
Violet caught a glimpse of him in the mirror and turned around, her face blushing slightly. "Why are you home so early today?"
"No meetings today," Brady said as he walked over to her.
He gently zipped up her dress from behind.
"Do you want me to drive you to the reunion?" Brady turned her around, his eyes filled with a mix of affection and possessiveness. "You look so beautiful."
Violet looked at his face and knew he was getting jealous again. She laughed, "What's wrong? Can't I dress up nicely?"
"You're so petty. If I buy a bunch of pretty clothes, you'll be furious."
Brady wasn't entirely against it, though he did feel a bit jealous. But he was confident enough. He leaned down and gently kissed her sweet lips. "No, wear whatever you like. I won't interfere."
He kissed her again, making Violet's heart pound.
Her face flushed as she said, "With you being so enthusiastic, I can't refuse your offer to drive me."
"But don't come inside. I don't want them to be intimidated by someone as important as you." Brady's name was well-known in New Future City.
Brady was silent.
Not allowed inside? That felt a bit undignified.
But thinking it over, he realized it was nice enough that Violet wanted him to drive her. He ruffled her hair and accepted it.
It seemed... he was becoming more and more of a doting husband.
