Chapter 674 Crime Committed by Acquaintances

The Devereux Villa Basement

Juniper came to, groggy and disoriented, only to find herself tightly bound with rope and dumped on a grimy floor. Her mouth was sealed with black duct tape, making it impossible to call for help.

Panic surged through her as she struggled against the restraints. She had been kidnapped once before as a child, but back then, her father had paid a $30 million ransom, and she was returned unharmed.

This time, she had no clue who had taken her or what they wanted. Was it money again, or something else entirely?

The basement was dimly lit, and the stench was overwhelming. She had no idea where she was.

Juniper felt tears welling up. She shouldn't have argued with her brother and father. If she hadn't been so reckless and let her guard down, the intruders wouldn't have gotten in.

But it was too late for regrets. She was already kidnapped.

She needed to figure out how to escape.

Juniper took a deep breath and began to survey the basement. The situation was bleak; the doors and windows were all locked.

There was no way she could break out with just her strength.

Despair washed over her again. Where was she? Did her brother or father know she had been kidnapped? Her father had just recovered from an illness. What would happen if he found out?

She couldn't bear to think about it.

Juniper curled up on the floor, sobbing quietly, regretting her previous recklessness and impulsiveness.

At the Hotel

Ethan scoured the suite for any clues but came up empty. This wasn't his turf, and he couldn't rely on local resources to find his sister.

The only person with the necessary influence was Brady.

But would Brady help, considering Juniper had offended Violet?

Ethan pondered for a moment. Regardless of whether Brady was willing to help, he had to try. Brady was his only hope to save his sister.

Ethan pulled out his phone and called Brady, asking for his assistance.

Brady was aware of Juniper's kidnapping. Initially, he didn't want to get involved, but Violet, seeing Ethan's plea, decided to intervene. She told Brady to help, considering Ethan was her brother.

Brady, unable to refuse her, agreed to help Ethan find his sister.

After hanging up, Brady sighed, "She hit you, and you're still helping?"

"Don't say I'm just being overly sympathetic!" Violet knew he would think she was being too kind-hearted. But she had her reasons. If something happened to Juniper, the media would undoubtedly drag the Hall family into the mess. She didn't care about herself, but she didn't want to implicate the Hall family.

"I asked you to help because, first, even if she hit me, she doesn't deserve to die. And second, if Juniper really gets hurt, the media will dig up all sorts of connections between me and the Lawson family. They'll twist the truth, and the Hall Group might get caught in the crossfire. I don't want them to tarnish the Hall Group or you."

Brady hadn't thought that far ahead. He smiled affectionately. "This time, you've thought it through more than I have."

"After everything we've been through, I've learned to be a bit more cautious, right?" Violet paused and then asked, "Who do you think kidnapped her?"

Although Juniper was a socialite from the Lawson family, their return to the country had been kept secret. No media had been alerted, so no one should know they were here.

Unless it was someone familiar.

"I can't say for sure, but it's likely someone she knows. Most kidnappings these days are carried out by acquaintances."

"That's what I think too," Violet agreed.
